Pennies For Heaven is a thrift store founded in 1971 and operated by the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The shop is run by friendly volunteers who raise money for the church by selling donated high end clothing and shoes, jewelry, accessories, men's clothing, household items, books, small appliances, golf equipment, books, children's clothing, and toys. The proceeds from all sales directly benefit the Mission and Ministry of Church of the Good Shepherd. They are a not-for-profit, so they do not charge sales tax. Pennies for Heaven is always having a sale. On the day I visited red tags were 50 percent off, red/yellow tags were 50 percent off, and blue tags were $1.00. The store is neatly organized and has interesting items at great prices. They accept donations of gently used items during our regular store hours. Furniture pickup is by appointment only.

They had a large selection of children's items which was great for me. Everything in the store was an additional 50 percent off. I was able to get two bags full of books, a twister game, stickers, balls for the treasure box, and some other assorted odds and ends for $3.50. The staff here was wonderful, so sweet and caring. If you are looking to score a deal, unload things you no longer need, and keep the planet healthy by recycling than come out and support St. Mark's.

I was surprised by how large and nice this thrift store is. Several rooms are filled with seasonal decorations including a large area of Christmas decorations, household goods, small appliances, clothes, accessories, kids items, large selection of furniture, and books. Everything was arranged artfully to give the store a boutique feel. In addition to shopping at their support stores you can donate your items at the rear of the store as well as give your time as a volunteer. Information on how to volunteer, their programs, and events are listed on the House of Hope website. This is a wonderful organization that deserves all of the community support it can get.

We both shopped around, my husband went one way to look at things he was interested in, and I went a different way to explore the store. No one ever greeted or spoke to me. It was my first time in the store and they had lots of nice items. I did have questions about some items I wanted to purchase, but was never acknowledged the entire time. I walked through the store from the dishes, clothing, to the furniture side. One tall dark haired woman walked past me at least 4 times in the store but only spoke to my husband across the store a couple of times. I was very sad when I left the store. He told me so much about this store and I was excited to get there. Not sure what happened here, but I wonder if it was because we are an interracial couple that I was never acknowledged, but my husband was.

It is located across from Publix. I didn't see any spots to park by it, so you may need to park further up or find a public lot to park in. My dad decided to drop me and my mom off to check out the store while he looked for parking. It's a full store with tons of items on racks, in cases, and on shelves. Spotted bags like the tote bag from the Chanel Surf collection and it was reasonably priced, apparel from different brands, and accessories. Prices varied on the items based on brand and condition. The gentleman behind the register was friendly, but let us shop on our own for the most part. I think his wife was working there too and she was helpful as well. She noted they do not have a dressing room, but said if you needed to try something on, you could go into the room with special occasion dresses and try things on, as there are no windows or areas where anyone outside the store could see you changing. I did try on a crop top, but wasn't sure about buying it, due to some small holes and I questioned if the brand noted on it really ever made something like that.
