Home in Ohio. That's our real tree, also had 7 "Everlasting" trees throughout the rest of our home.

A few years ago when we moved to Florida we had a collection of exquisite Christmas Decorations that my wife and I had been collecting for all the 47 years that we had been married. We had lived in Ohio in a 6000 square foot home and we literally would decorate every room in our home. We decorated very elegant and very classy, so much so that the Cleveland newspaper came out and did a photo spread and story about our home. When we downsized, I could have gone through the process of selling everything and making money. But after a conversation with the amazing people at House of Hope, my wife and I donated thousands of dollars worth of Christmas decorations to House of Hope. It was very difficult to part with our treasures, but what an extraordinary feeling it gave us to know that our decorations would soon be creating memories for so many other families. All I can say at this point is, God Bless the House of Hope and all the wonderful individuals that give their time and of themselves to help this tremendous place.

According to their website "House of Hope is a non profit agency that provides food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance, information & referral, and life-changing case management services to Martin County residents in need." To fund their programs including a food pantry and job coach program, they operate several thrift stores including this one, as well as Hobe Sound and Indiantown. I was surprised by how large and nice this thrift store is. Several rooms are filled with seasonal decorations including a large area of Christmas decorations, household goods, small appliances, clothes, accessories, kids items, large selection of furniture, and books. Everything was arranged artfully to give the store a boutique feel. In addition to shopping at their support stores you can donate your items at the rear of the store as well as give your time as a volunteer. Information on how to volunteer, their programs, and events are listed on the House of Hope website. This is a wonderful organization that deserves all of the community support it can get.

House of Hope keeps everything so clean, neat, and we'll organized, it's fun to go treasure hunting there. But what they do for the homeless means so much more. I'm going to begin volunteering there.

Since that time they have been offering patients and their families in Martin and St Lucie counties services related to end of life care by a team of physicians, nurses, nursing assistant, social workers, and chaplains. To fund their mission, Treasure Coast Hospice operates a thrift store in Stuart which I have previously reviewed and this newer location in Port St Lucie. The store is located in a strip mall. It is one large room with racks of clothing, small pieces of furniture, household goods, collectibles, holiday items, books, small appliances, jewelry, and accessories. Everything was neat, clean, and attractively arranged. Prices were very fair and they had an additional sale on green tag clothes which were an additional 50 percent off, 50 percent off shoes, and 20 percent off pictures. If you were lucky enough to find a yellow tag clothing item, they were only $1. They had some other sales as well so that almost everything in the store was additionally discounted. I really wish I had the room for the watermelon serving dish. I also loved the little doggie creamer. They had a lot of vintage items which also caught my eye. This is a great organization which you can come out and support by shopping their stores and donating to them. Also you can help save the planet by keeping items out of the landfill. Thrifting can do a community a lot of good.

Inside you can find clothing, accessories, small appliances, furniture, household goods, toys, books, and collectibles. The sale of donations to Hibiscus Treasure House provides money for their programs as well as supplies the Hibiscus Children's Center's residential facilities with the items the children may need like clothing, baby items, furniture, toys, games, and movies. Families in need and children aging out of foster care can also obtain vouchers to shop at the thrift store. This was my first visit to this store and I was impressed by both the mission of this charity and the excellent store they run. I was able to fill a bag with toys for my classroom and holiday decorations for $7. When I was checking out I mentioned what I was purchasing the items for and they gave me an educator's discount. Please support this wonderful organization by donating your gently used items and by shopping here. They have their own truck to pick up your large furniture donations.

He came up with the idea for a charity in response to a fellow classmates question, what is your church doing for the poor? The group chose St. V\incent de Paul, patron saint of the poor for their name and under the guidance of Sister Rosalie Rendu, they increased the number of people they were able to help. Volunteers of the organization are called Vincentians. The charity spread from France to Europe. In 1845 they established in St. Louis, Missouri. The organization is now world wide in 150 countries with 750,000 members. Every year across the country the St. Vincent De Paul Society provides 1.4 billion in aid to more than 4 million people every year. The store is staffed by volunteers and proceeds go to providing food and clothing, housing, rent and utility assistance, to the Port St. Lucie community. They sell donated furniture, household goods, lamps, small appliances, art collectibles, books, CD's, clothes, and accessories. They had a great selection and the prices were very reasonable in their clean and well organized store. They had a cute boutique section and you may even find vintage and antique pieces tucked into the shelves. Follow them on Facebook for notification of upcoming sales. If you are looking to donate, they accept household furniture, household goods, clothing, and toys in very good condition. Donations of food must be nonperishable and not expired. This long standing charitable organization is a wonderful place to shop and to give to.
