"When in Rome, do like the Romans" goes the saying. "When in…read moreChinatown, do like Chinese", I say. If that means summoning the waiter by simply waiving your hand, or even snapping fingers, so be it. If that means ignoring chintzy decor and dirty looks (there goes another Gaijin), so be it. If that means ordering 57 dishes of the most amazing tantalizing delicious food, whereas you can only eat no more than 7 dishes, so be it. True happiness comes from within, and that's why my dear aunt used to say "When you've eaten, your soul becomes kinder". Mind you, good food isn't easy to find. Good CHINESE food? Oh, mate, you're asking for the moon! But, here, at Kam Tong, "good food" is simply an understatement. Food here is beyond that. Of course, you must be willing to look past the garden variety of moo-shoo pork and sweet and sour chicken and order the REAL Chinese food. And that, my friends, is where the true pleasure lies. Go on, order. I'll wait. What, you want EVERYTHING on the menu? Well, yeah. Me too! The quality of the food here is in smells, flavor, taste and sight. If you go for one place in Bayswater, make this your one stop. Cheers (we're in London, after all!) Addendum. As we were sitting down for our second meal in as many days at Kam Tang, somebody at a table next to ours asked for Pad Thai. PEOPLE!!! Dafuq is wrong with you!!! You wouldn't ask for fish and chips at a French restaurant, or sushi at curry joint. Then why the fuck not learn what the amazing Chinese cuisine is all about!!! Argh!

You have to be a member and place your order before 7:30 pm. A zero for customer service because any reasonable business would have taken into account that this is a first visit and just 35 minutes after their cutoff time. I do have to confess that they were polite, and the food was reasonably good. Not excellent though.

The soup was probly my favorite, good noodles and clean refreshing broth and nicely crisped duck breast skin. The Cantonese steak fillet wasn't what I would describe as steak, much smaller thinner slices but the beef was quite tender. The sauce was a bit too sweet and sticky like a darker sweet n sour sauce and kind of basic. The mapo tofu wasn't very soft. Overall pretty good tho and quick & efficient.

Alas, we went into this place because it looked nice from the outside. The interior was clean and nicely appointed, however it seems the food was made for a very bland palate. This restaurant was recommended through multiple Instagram videos, which is why I'm very surprised to see so many negative reviews. I absolutely LOVED my meal. To start, I ordered the Tsingtao beer because I had never tried Chinese beer before. I loved it, it was the perfect "starter" to our dinner. Next, we ordered the pan fried dumplings, and they were nice enough to fry them extra for me after I asked. We also ordered Ho Fun with beef. The noodles tasted fresh and the beef was not overcooked like these reviews are claiming. Finally, I ordered the spare ribs. I have never enjoyed ribs so much before. These were spectacular, and I think there was nearly 10 of them on the plate. Even after I got full, I kept trying to eat them because they were so delicious. I ate them with a side of white rice. The restaurant is small inside but they have outdoor seating. The servers were very attentive and brought everything out quickly. We were very satisfied with our meal and the overall experience.

We found this establishment thanks to the fine folks of Yelp, and we decided to try it out. We were eager to try many things so we opted for one of the pre-set menu items that includes a 5 course meal. They brought out an array of appetizers including wontons, dumplings, and others. Our main course consisted of Sweet and Sour pork and Stir Fried chicken. Both were great, however, our intermediary course is where it was at for me. Crispy friend duck. They served it nice and crunchy with wraps and celery strips to top off with deliciously prepped plum sauce. You can add any other toppings to your duck style fajita at your leisure, and I must say, this was the highlight of my meal. Give the duck a try, its probably one of the best I have ever had and was not gamy at all.
