Sizzling Beef Steak with Black Pepper

We came here after a long day for dinner. We were really hungry. After we sat down, I checked Yelp for food suggestions. It looks like some people said the food are not so good. We wanted to give it a try. We ordered a Sizzling Beef Steak with Black Pepper and French Beans with Minced Pork in Chilli Sauce. Both were pretty good. The beef steak is very soft just like many other Chinese restaurant. The only different is that the beef from other restaurants usually have no beef favor or very least favor. The beef steak here is delicious and has so much favor. I highly suggest the Sizzling Beef Steak with Black Pepper! You must try it if you love beef steak. The French Beans with Minced Pork in Chilli Sauce is spicy but it's a little bit too salty. The minced pork is tasty. Overall I think the foods are good here but they are a little bit pricy. That's why I give 4 stars for it.

When a restaurant has such an extensive menu, it is safe to assume that not every dish will be outstanding. Your enjoyment of your food would therefore be a function of your selection of what to order. Fortunately, I have enjoyed everything I've ever eaten at China Palace Excel. Located just outside the west entrance of the London ExCel conference center, this restaurant seems to be the choice for many business lunches. I was in the area for vacation, and was the most dressed down person in the restaurant on each of my visits. While I've enjoyed everything here, from dim sum to large main dishes, the one item that is easily my favorite is the baked crab in black pepper sauce. The succulent crab meat and the savory black pepper sauce with diced vegetables are best enjoyed with some egg fried rice. Service is polite, perhaps a little distant and inattentive for those who are visiting from the US, but no real service issues at all. Prices are reasonable. Overall, I found this to be one of the better dining options in the area. The restaurant is located in an old building that looks like an old train station. The entrance to the restaurant is a blue door that is marked "south entrance", not the door that has a sign with the restaurant's name on it (tricky, I know), but the larger door to the left.

    Spring rolls

I went here with coworkers after a day of working at the ExCel Center. I ordered the spring rolls, scallops, and garlic vegetables. The spring rolls had a nice, light flavor to them. There were three of them so you could share that with other appetizers for the table. The scallop s were in an XO sauce. It was very tasteful. The vegetables mixed in it were carrots, mushroom, and asparagus. The garlic vegetables I ordered on the side were also good. It had enough garlic and they were cooked perfectly. I did wish I would have known the scallops came with vegetables would be the other thing!

Mmm beef udon noodles and crispy shredded beef!

Visited China Palace based on Yelp recommendations - what a find! The dim sum menu is vast and as a dim sum connoisseur I was slightly sceptical but I had no need to be. The scallop and prawn and chive dumplings in particular were fantastic! We also enjoyed a quarter duck and a few main dishes. I would definitely recommend u-don noodles with beef and black pepper - to die for! I wouldn't however recommend the house white - not good. I will definitely be back!

Prawn starter with hot and sour

I enjoyed coming here, and starting off with a few beers and the prawn & garlic starter which were cooked just right. I then moved on to a hot and sour soup. The broth was thick and spicy... just the way I like it. The menu items for the main meal is extensive, but even so I wanted something a little different, so I picked out the pork cutlets meal and asked if they could do it in a brown garlic sauce, add in some onion, garlic, peppers and make it good and spicy. I was a little apprehensive on what would come out but to me great joy, the dish was simply outstanding. The service was good, the portions were just right and the ambiance was nice. My only complain would be the beer was not as cold as I would have liked it, but it certainly did not detract from an outstanding meal. If I'm in this part of town again, I'll sure be stopping on by and brining along several friends too!

Therefore, the delivery time would not be as exact as if it were truly taking place through Uber eats. So I was checking the app pretty frequently just to see what the updates were, and the entire time was seeing that the restaurant was preparing the order. Until I got a phone call from the front desk where I'm staying asking me if I had ordered food because they were in the lobby. So there was no type of notification provided to me regarding the updated order status. Now let's talk about the food. The chicken balls were pretty good. They were still very hot and crispy and definitely what I was looking for. The sweet-and-sour sauce was way too vinegary and it had a weird spice to it, almost like cinnamon or something like that. The chicken satay was not good. In fact it was inedible. The fish sauce flavor was way too strong, and the dish itself needed salt, which is kind of impressive when you consider how salty fish sauce is. And they didn't even include like a small container of rice. I had not ordered rice because the only rice option on the menu was almost the same price as the entrée which led me to believe that there was a small container provided for you and that if you wanted the extra rice, you would have to pay for it. But I guess that was not the case. Overall, I did not enjoy the food and I will not order from this restaurant anymore during my stay here in London.

If you check out the included photo you'll see a wide assortment of flavors on display, from spicy dumplings swimming in delicious hot oil to aromatic spicy crab, which was a surprise hit. Yes, there are spicy dishes a plenty at this place, but you'll also find plates suitable for milder tongues as well. The entire menu is packed with delicious food which will satisfy just about anyone in your group. Indoor dining isn't happening these days, but during my previous visits to Jin Jiang I always found the service to be friendly and attentive while the atmosphere was quite comfortable. Seriously, this is the kind of rare find (outside of your local Chinatown) that I want to support through these tough times because I love restaurants that work hard to expand the Chinese cuisine experience beyond the same boring stuff that has sadly become synonymous with takeaway. Give them a try if you're looking for something different. They just might become your new favorite Chinese.
