My sister and I were craving some cantonese food, the type you find in those restaurants which have…read morebeen operating since before the hipster revolution. This place is great, they have all of the traditional starters such as Sesame Prawn Toast and Battered King Prawns, which go so well with chilli sauce. Since we had stuffed ourselves with starters, we opted for chicken with green peppers and black bean sauce, with Egg Fried Rice of course. If you are looking for 'no frills' cantonese food, then this place is recommended. The service was polite and friendly too. The price is very reasonable, it's a great place to go.

My Aunt is obsessed with Chan's and sings its praises whenever she gets a chance (for a short time, she used to frequent this place almost every week). I walked to Chan's as it was getting dark, slightly nervous that I wasn't going the right way. When I entered, I saw a tiny (really) restaurant with plenty of tables full of people eating happily. It's a good sign when the type of food served in a restaurant is being devoured by people of the same ethnic group, it gives you a feeling that you can trust the place. I got my food to go. A heaping vegetarian dish and rice. The prices were fair and everything was packed perfectly. I relished it at home that night and the next. Everything was excellent. What got me was the service. Although the man taking my order had never met me, he was concerned about my walk home and offered to call me a cab. He advised me (since as an American I was clearly out of my element) that the area wasn't great to be alone in at night and wanted to make sure I got home safely. Since I didn't know my address heart, I didn't have a chance to take him up on the offer and walked home. Chan's isn't the type of restaurant that stuns you with high ceilings or decor or exciting lighting. They focus on the food and their customers. It is a restaurant of people who come with their families continually. I will be back the next time I am in East Ham.

Therefore, the delivery time would not be as exact as if it were truly taking place through Uber eats. So I was checking the app pretty frequently just to see what the updates were, and the entire time was seeing that the restaurant was preparing the order. Until I got a phone call from the front desk where I'm staying asking me if I had ordered food because they were in the lobby. So there was no type of notification provided to me regarding the updated order status. Now let's talk about the food. The chicken balls were pretty good. They were still very hot and crispy and definitely what I was looking for. The sweet-and-sour sauce was way too vinegary and it had a weird spice to it, almost like cinnamon or something like that. The chicken satay was not good. In fact it was inedible. The fish sauce flavor was way too strong, and the dish itself needed salt, which is kind of impressive when you consider how salty fish sauce is. And they didn't even include like a small container of rice. I had not ordered rice because the only rice option on the menu was almost the same price as the entrée which led me to believe that there was a small container provided for you and that if you wanted the extra rice, you would have to pay for it. But I guess that was not the case. Overall, I did not enjoy the food and I will not order from this restaurant anymore during my stay here in London.
