It's been a while since I came to Mamoon's falafel, and it did not disappoint. The customer service was really welcoming and friendly when I had some questions since it's been a while since I've ate here my son and I absolutely loved the falafel and he really enjoyed his Shawarma sandwich. I ordered the lamb platter. I believe it's called with baba ghanoush hummus and half rice half salad. I wasn't a huge fan of the rice. The dips were really great, especially with the pita chips. The salad was a little too plain for me but overall it was a yummy meal. I think I would go with chicken next time maybe the chicken sandwich or the vegetarian plate since I did really enjoy the dips and the falafel the most. The pistachios baklava was pretty good too. I used to work in the West Village so Mamoun's original location saw me visit at least once a week for their delicious shwarma and falafel. It has been quite some time since I've had Mamoun's so while I was wandering around Hoboken I was delighted to come across a location on Washington! Yes, I know it's been here for quite some time, but I'm kind of new to hanging out in Hoboken so this was a wonderful surprise for me. The original Mamoun's is a hole in the wall that can barely fit 4-5 people inside standing. In heavy contrast, this location is on a corner with plenty of room. The interior leans heavily towards wood and dark colors, giving it a slightly classic and industrial look at the same time. The wall along the right is lined with old photos of the West Village (including the legendary Cafe Wha-?). It is a wonderful reminder of where this chain originated and brought back memories of my younger days working in the Village. In heavy contrast to the original Mamoun's, you go up to an ordering kiosk and you pay with your card. The menu is well designed and I was delighted to see that you could mix drinks if you'd like and you can order different sizes of sauces (at an added cost of course). I wanted the basics so I ordered a shwarma, falafel and unsweetened iced tea. The food was prepared very quickly. At the pickup area there are napkins and cutlery. They apparently package everything as if it was to go, so no trays or anything here. They handed me my order and I sat down to eat. I carefully unwrapped the shwarma and man...it was like going back in time. There was a pita stuffed completely with a salad and shwarma meat (I went with lamb for that classic flavor). One difference from the original location is the lack of a hot pepper put on top of the shwarma. That used to be a nice touch they did back in the day, but to be honest, I have no idea if the Village location does this anymore. Folks, the shwarma was absolutely *delicious* and beautifully cooked. I recommend using the foil to keep the structural integrity of the sandwich together (though by the bottom it will just start falling apart). I also purchased a side order of falafel and they were perfect. Crispy on the outside, light chew on the inside and fresh! It's not hard to find falafel, but finding *good* falafel is tough so I was super happy with this side. Mamoun's is wonderful. It is a culinary blast from the past in a modern setting. We ordered food to-go late night on a Saturday a few weeks ago. We got there about 30 minutes before Mamoun's was about to close. There were still a few customers eating inside this corner spot on Washington. The woman behind the counter who took my order was friendly, and she also asked if I needed sauces when she handed me our food. We devoured the side of fries in the car and ate our platter orders when we got home. They held up during the car ride. First time stopping by since my SIL loves this spot. Tried the shawarma and the grilled chicken signature sandwiches. They are served in a pita with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and tahineh sauce. I wished mine had a bit more sauce (next time I'll ask for extra on the side) and a more lettuce. Just felt like a a lot of meat that was kind of dry. We also ordered a small hummus that came with a pita and side of falafel. Didn't love the hummus sadly but falafel was pretty good! They have alot of seats and I bet they do a lot of take out. Can't go wrong with Mamoun's Falafel. When craving Mediterranean food, there are different options here to choose from, whether you dine in or take out. You have the option to order a staff member or self order at the front. I love eating the Chicken Kebab plate. You can modify your food in case there is something you don't want in your meal. Everything on my plate is tasty and delicious, I love their homemade pita dipped in hummus. The times we have come here, we usually dine in and finish our food later at home. If you need to have leftovers, I recommend no more than one day. Fresh is always better. Leftovers won't taste as good past the day. Service is good, and all forms of payment are accepted. Hoboken is horrible with traffic. Just be mindful of all signs. It's always a pleasure to come back to Mamoun's. read more

Since my first trip to Hoboken six years ago we've always ordered delivery from Mamoun's. Today I happened to be walking by at lunchtime so I decided to stop in. When you get to the counter you can order in person or from their touchscreen menus. I tried the touchscreen and it was slick -- especially since I was using my credit card. You can easily customize your order by selecting ingredients you do not want on you sandwich. After selecting your food, hit finish and pay, select a tip, enter a "name," swipe your card and it's done. My order was ready in a few minutes -- your experience may vary depending on how busy it is. There are plenty of tables if you want to eat on site. I opted for the Lamb Shawarma sandwich. The pita was stuffed with seasoned meat, lettuce, tomatoes and onions and topped with tahini sauce. It was a bit drippy (in a good way) so you probably wouldn't want to eat it walking around or in your vehicle. A refreshing mint lemonade complemented the sandwich quite nicely. My family in Hoboken are vegans so we usually order things like falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, and lentil soup, along with a stack of pita. Vegans and vegetarians will be pleased with all the tasty meatless options available at Mamoun's. BTW -- their Middle Eastern hot sauce is the best I've ever had -- but proceed with caution because it's ultra hot and spicy! P.S. I wasn't planning on it, but my daughter and son-in-law decided to order dinner from Mamoun's in the evening -- so Mamoun's twice on the a same day! This time I went with the "Manhattan Sandwich." The original in the west village was the late night spot to get a great falafel at 3-4am 2 decades ago. This spot is very sterile & lack personality but the food is basically the same delicious food. Times have change & the place is a bit pricey but you will not be disappointed if you love falafels & shawarma. Service is pay as you can order or you can use the machine yourself & add anything you want to your sandwich or plate. Vegetables are alway fresh, chicken & lamb is always flavorful, food is not spicy unless you add hot sauce yourself which is very hot. They server tahini instead of that awful white sauces lot of mediocre places serve. Decent place to dine in but it's still a qsr that you have to pay 1st. I stopped by to pick up lunch. The clerk at the counter greeted me warmly and took my order for a Shwarma Platter. It was a very short wait before the bag with my order appeared. When I reached home about a half hour later and opened the bag, the accompanying pita bread was still warm. I opened the plate, there was a very ample serving of lamb but I would have preferred if the slices had been larger. Both the lamb and the seasoned rice could have used more of the tahini sauce. Although the plate came with pickles, olives and pickled turnips, a little more of them would have added some needed acid. The next time I order, I'll ask for more of those elements. The plastic knife and fork were small, flimsy and thus useless. Even though there were some flaws, the service and quality of food were good. I remember when i used to eat at Mamoun's original location in Washington SQ... It was amazing there. The meat was superb... But in here, it felt watered down. I ordered the shawarma and it wasnt that good. It was dry. They didnt pour much of the sauce, the meat tasted nothing, and it was filled veggies, and only few dices of tomatoes in there. We were in the Hoboken area and didn't want to spend a fortune getting something to eat so we decided to grab a bite here. The restaurant is clean and friendly people working here. They have an electronic order kiosk in addition to a human order taker. The falafel sandwich was amazing like what I remembered. Fresh crispy falafels with plenty of veggies stuffed in a Pita. You do have to ask for the hot and tahini sauce or you won't get any on the side which I highly recommend. They have a bathroom for the customers here. Great spot to have a lamb shawarma. I usually get it for lunch or after a happy hour in Hoboken. They're very generous with the amount of lamb given compared to the New Brunswick location. I usually order through the app 5 minutes before I get there and my food is ready for pickup by the time I arrive. They have a great location off 3rd street and plenty of seating inside, but parking could be an issue. read more

You place your food order on the self order screens and there's pictures that accompany the menu items, which I always find incredibly helpful. As I was there I noticed that a lot of people come in and eat here. There was always a line and steady flow of people dining in. I ordered the falafel and shawarma gyro and it was tasty. It needed some sort of sauce so I used a sauce that they provided for another entree. My family also ordered the shawarma plate platters and it looked yummy. In the last several years, I've noticed the quality of food go down - especially at the Hoboken location. The seasonings are not the same as they used to be, the falafel has no flavor, the iced tea or Lemonade are now too sweet (and mint-less), and the pitas are different (i.e. super thin). While it doesn't rock my world and blow me away and keep me running across the river the way it did at one point, this is still some of the best Middle Eastern food you will ever eat in your life. I think the best thing about my moons (I mean Mamouns) is the combination of all the different stuff they put in your pitas. We're talking about some of the best toppings imaginable for beautiful fluffy open pita bread (the only kind worth stuffing with anything really), and this is the kind of food that really blows me away. Our leadership system is broken And our deepest fears all are unspoken But when it comes to food It would be f*cking rude To not come to Mamoun's of Hoboken! Then there's also the excellent selections of lemonade and other exotic drinks - the mint lemonade is second to none. I'm a massive fan and you probably will be too when you come here and try this. If the employees thought my mother was a cow (they may do by now), it'd be Ma-moos. My best experiences of Mamoun's of Hoboken are when I leave Buffalo shortly before midnight, and then still manage to miraculously make it to this location before they close, which is 5am on Fri and Sat. Not a lot of people can do that drive in that time (and without even getting a ticket on that route, yet). Especially in bad weather. If Bart Simpson and Eric Cartman were regulars here (Eric is a regular everywhere), they'd be Ma-toons. I actually managed to roll in here by about 4.47am before a 5am close, after a 5-hour-high-speed drive from Buffalo. Not only did they serve me, but gave me a bunch of free stuff. Customer service was absolutely exemplary. Quite the opposite of that waitress in Syracuse. Mamoun's has some of the best customer service anywhere. Lovely guys. It rocked my world because after all that time on the road, you don't want to get there and find it's closed 15 minutes early, like many places do or would. If they sold digital songs whereby the artist got almost no profit, they'd be Ma-itunes. Hummus World (Long Island) was the best until it closed down. Mamoun's is the best that is still alive, it's exemplary and incomparably delicious. I pita the fool that disagrees. Get the shawarma and falafel combo in a pita. It's just $6.50 and stuff it with *everything*. When I say everything, I mean pickles, hummus, crazy flavourful bits n pieces of spiced veggies, drizzled with tahini. It comes together into an absolute miracle. If all the guys in here had a crush on me (or my Mum), they'd be Ma-Swoons. They do have other stuff like Kofte and Chicken. But I'm never able to stray from the tried and trusted Shawarma + Falafel combo in a Pita. It's so good. If you saw Tom Green's fave bird here, they'd be Ma-Loon's. And that's not very fun. When you always expose your bum. Or rather your Mum. Or rather she exposes her own Bum. Maybe it's where I get it from. In any case, I like to put my bum on things. It's fun for everyone. As well as the ridiculously low price (NYC area and yet 6.50 for a stuffed pita full of heaven), there's the added bonus of their hours. 5am on Fri and Sat, and 1, 2 or 3 on other nights. So you can come for breakfast if you're insane and up early. The MacDougal Manhattan location is open til 5am every night! If they closed at 12pm instead of 5am, they'd be Ma-noon's. Mamoun's is my favourite pita kebab in all of NY-NJ, and possibly in the USA. And I can't take my mother anywhere. I've driven her to Jersey on at least 666 occasions, and every time, she exposes her bottom to the staff. Some of them think it's gross, some think it's funny, and that one creepy hairy guy in the back seems to actually enjoy it a little bit too much, if his burly grunts are anything to go by. I don't know why my "Ma moons" them but what I do know is, it's become so famous here in Ho-boken, that they have renamed the restaurant after these predictable moonings, accordingly. They cooked nicely and the meat itself was delicious but I feel like it was not Mediterranean because of all the spices that too me tasted more of Indian food. The Naan bread was the best part. I ordered DoorDash when I first arrived to my hotel in New Jersey. That was probably my 1st mistake. I had this place on my hit list for my trip to the area and after eating it I have mixed reviews. My falafel I'll say tasted just as I imagined it would be it was good, full of flavor. My only complaint was that it was not hot. The lamb pita was wayyy off putting the meat was practically ice cold and the sauce was extremely bitter I wished I had just gotten the falafel sandwich instead of just a side of it.
