I proceeded to pull off a piece of the pork chop and couldn't eat anymore of it. I pulled a piece of the catfish and was taken back by how mushy it was in the center. I tasted a fork full of the green beans and the red beans & rice. Every piece of food I ate tasted like it was drowned in salt. I have high blood pressure so I could not continue eating the food. Over $30 worth of full has to been thrown out due to the salt type ingredient. I'm a big fan of soul food cooking and what I tasted (not ate) last night sent my blood pressure through the roof. I was able to enjoy the cornbread and inhaled it because I was so hungry. Maybe it was a timing issue because I it was later in the day. They close at 7pm and I was there close to 4. I don't know and not going to guess why my food was editable.

My daughter and I dined at Snow Island Soul Food & Daqs and what could I say? I ordered the fried…read morecatfish & fried wing plate with cabbage, yams, cornbread a tropical punch beverage and peach cobbler. The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. But the fried catfish, fried chicken wings and yams were on point, I would order the catfish and chicken wing plate to go anyday! The peach cobbler was very sweet. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. But the kicker for me was, our two meals, two beverages, and two desserts cost $61!!! As many Soul Food Restaurant I have eaten in with my daughter for two people, I have never been charged so much for two soulfood meals with two beverages and two desserts. RECOMMEDATION: Of course my palate is different from other customers, but I would never return to the establishment due to being over charged for two meals, two beverages, two desserts and the lady's restroom was the pits.

Today we got the 3 plate meal (2 huge pork chops, 6 wings and meatloaf that could easily feed 2,…read morejust itself. Pur sides were brocc; oli cheese casserole and sweet potatoes!! Again, everything was on POINT!!!!! Will definitely coming back!!!

I love visiting New Orleans because the food is on an epic level of flavorful, so I decided to see…read moreif San Antonio had anything close to NOLA Cajun or Creole food. My search led me to Nuttin Betta....a fitting name, because you really aren't going to find better Cajun food in these parts of Texas. I ordered carry out online through Uber Eats. The ordering process was easy, and the employees actually read my notes requesting hot sauce and utensils. Attention to detail like that is crucial when you're ordering carry out. The restaurant itself was very clean, and it's clear the owner takes pride in the appearance and experience they give their customers. I'm excited to explore more of their menu.

Well today I made it my area cause I came out that way just to eat there. Being from New Orleans I always try to his Cajun spots and support. So was glad to make it in. My son and I were greeted as soon as we came in. We grabbed a seat and they offered us drinks as we waited for his mom to join us. Not a huge place and there was steady business between to go and people sitting in. The music was on point. And there were many relics of home. The pictures of the projects from NOLA on walls on to the bathroom made me pause and take them in. If you know you know. As for the food, my son got chicken tenders, his usual, I got a fried catfish and shrimp plate, a bowl of gumbo, and 3 of the Cajun dry rub wings. My son's mom got a crab and shrimp boil. My son's tenders were legitimately huge. He got 5 and could only finsh three. This is a kid who eats 20 McDonald's nuggets. So they were huge loI I tried the gumbo and the first flavor I got was red beans and rice. But it worked. The roux was more subtle but it had a good bit of shrimp and a lot of sausage. And a couple crab legs. I did enjoy it. Not the best gumbo I've had in San Antonio but I'd still order it every time I eat here. If you get the Cajun dry rub wings, do not inhale before, during or after you eat them. That rub will spice your throat quick lol make sure you drink something in between. But they were fine. The shrimp were fried perfect. The cafish was fried harder than I like. But thats a preference. It tasted great but I like my wings crispy and my catfish just lightly coated. Cause when you eat the tail it's like just a big crunchy with no meat cause it's all fried out. Again my preference. It was still very good and the meaty bits were delicious. I tasted some of the boil and it seemed the seafood might have been boiled then had the sauces poured over it? The shrimp didn't have a lot of flavor on their own unless you dippwdy them in the sauce. My son's mom said she felt like that about the whole boil including the crab. Tasty still tho. Oh their sweet tea, swamp water and kool-aid all get high marks. All in all so glad I came and will be back. Preference things aside it was really good. Maybe when gas prices go down haha jk y'all got a fan.

Ordered the Soul Rolls and just WOW. A egg roll type wrap filled with seasoned ground beef, greens and Mac N Cheese. With Brown Gravy. MMM. Could be a meal by itself. Friend ordered Fried Green tomatoes. No complaints from him. Perused the menu with the Wednesday special being Meatloaf, 2 sides and a drink. ($11.99). I ordered meatloaf was delightful dense meat... not many fillers smothered in brown gravy. A side of Mac N Cheese and Okra.. SO MUCH TO EAT. Friends got the Swai fish with Yams and Green beans. Second friend had Catfish with cabbage and okra. They both loved their individual plates, had enough to create a to go plate for later. And don't get me started on the Banana Puddig for all 3 of us. MMM. Support this business. They do Soul cooking excellence.

Same for the sides. And the gravy. Everything was just...okay. I wanted to support so badly, and maybe it was an off day, but I won't be back. The woman who took my order wasn't friendly either - although I saw her at least be amicable with another couple. Don't know that I would want to eat in the restaurant, but there were a few diners there when I went to place my order.

Highly recommend all of their flavors, especially the garlic Parmesan and funnel cake. Anything hot is always delicious but it's nice to do something different from time to time.
