I discovered Mami's Crunch at the farmers market, and these are some seriously wonderful crackers.
I bought two different varieties, and at first $8 for each small package struck me as expensive. Two weeks later, I still have about half of BOTH packages--and I've completely changed my mind about the price.
These aren't ordinary crackers. They're a wonderfully esoteric little creation made from really good ingredients, without cheap wheat flour or some other filler there mainly to turn a handful of interesting ingredients into a much larger pile of crackers.
Everything I saw was gluten-free, although that isn't personally a selling point for me. I love gluten. Give me seitan and I'm a happy man. What impresses me is what these crackers contain rather than what they leave out: nuts, seeds, seaweed and other ingredients that bring actual flavor, texture and substance.
And that's the remarkable part. I eat one or two and I'm satisfied.
I don't keep reaching into the package until I've somehow eaten half of it. One or two actually feels like enough. So instead of looking at that tiny package and thinking, "I paid $8 for this?" I'm looking at TWO half-full packages two weeks later wondering where these amazing crackers have been all my life.
