    Mambo Classic #4
    Sheryl L.

Restaurant was nicely decorated for Hispanic Heritage month. The Mambo classic 4 (15 fried shrimp with a side of fried rice), which was $2 off during lunch on weekdays, was delicious and a great value. I ordered 12 grande shrimp sautéed with scampi sauce but was given grilled grande shrimp skewers. We planned to share so I didn't ask for a remake. The server brought out a dish of scampi sauce. The shrimp would have been more flavorful cooked in the scampi sauce. The shrimp skewers were good but slightly over cooked. The signature fried rice is always delicious. I signed up for the rewards program to get half price fried rice on Tuesday.

New spot opened and wanted to try it out for myself. Promptly seated, we were provided menus and got our drinks and app ordered. Our server seemed enthusiastic and sweet but also seemed rushed even though it was not busy. Our appetizer wasn't ordered correctly and was given to us after our main meals were provided. We ordered a frozen mango margarita and a lime margarita on the rocks, YUM. Not one for frozen drinks, but I may pop on by for another mango margarita. The apps we did get delivered: shrimp cocktail, and the bite-size, deep fried salmon. We did not order this but we were told salmon was "chicharrón style" I couldn't locate in the menu but it had a nice crunch and was flavorful. The shrimp cocktail (Ceviche) was erroneously ordered... as basic as it was, it didn't taste awful. When we got our buffalo shrimp, it was very saucy and had a nice kick. Vuela a la vida platter is a mix of squid, shrimp, and octopus sautéed in choice of Mambo Ranchero Sauce or scampi (i wasn't asked if I preferred a a sauce and was automatically given scampi - not my fav as the buttery sauce seeped into the rice making everything a bit more oily then I'd prefer.) Fish tacos came out last as this order wasn't place until after we received our meal (the shrimp cocktail was ordered instead) We also got the mambo #1 fish, shrimp and rice. Space was clean and people seemed friendly. I'm glad I was able to experience this place

Our first time at a Mambo Seafood location and it will not be our last. Idk if these are independently owned or staff is just that good because the customer service was 5 stars! But we came for the food right? This restaurant was recommended to us solely because of the rice. Yes the rice is that good! You could come and get an entree of just rice and leave full and satisfied. I opted to get the shrimp scampi which were jumbo shrimp and cooked to perfection. Next time I'm trying that mojarra! Thank you Mambo Seafood for the excellent food and even better service!

    Fish and stuffed shrimp

It's decent. There was a bit of a wait on the food. I had the 2 fish filets and 2 stuffed shrimp. The food was good , the prices decent. I personally just thought it would have been better... the ceviche was good... it just felt like something was missing... I am not a salt person- but I kept Adding salt to it all...

Delicious food at great prices! We had eaten at the one in the RGV previously and were very familiar with the menu. We mostly ordered fish and shrimp but my daughter ordered the octopus in scampi sauce. I love their light breading, the fried rice, and their tarter sauce is delicious. One of my daughters loved the stuffed shrimp. The drinks are flavorful and fun. We had a pitcher of the pepino lime and a watermelon margarita. Service was perfect and the restaurant was bright and spaced out. The only issue was the restroom floor was a bit sticky.

OMG! 1st there are no fish places on the southeast side (j Anthony or laguna madre) we would go to BB Tex-Orleans now that was an awesome place- really miss it- but Mambo's? Wow!!!- great place fantastic servers- ask for Juliette shes one of the best servers & i think southeast San Antonio has the best- But the food? Expect spicy I don't eat it- so not a lot of choices for me the mambo rice was excellent my husband had the snapper grilled with the Z-style finish He was in heaven! I had the stuffed shrimp & fish fillet of course the shrimp was spicy- husband says it was fantastic- but those fish fillets (fried) were on point - the red sauce was way too spicy for me but drinks from the bar made up for the heat- the "playa de coco" incredible, but as in all bars the tequila pour could have been a little heavier my husband had the Mar y Sol, refreshing, His street elote was the best he's had but again very spicy even the part that didn't have the goodies on it. To be honest i didn't ask if they could spice down the food! The ambiance was nice- back ground music really nice & not blaring Mambo keep up the great work We will return!

I really wanted to enjoy this new restaurant... but sadly it wasn't up to its expectations. Firstly, the rice and shrimp wasn't flavorful and didn't amaze me. The shrimp wasn't fully cleaned and I found some dirty parts inside. Also the elote corn wasn't really seasoned as much as i'd like and didn't have flavor. I didn't go inside but ordered it through take out and the service was okay. Overall, I hope they fix the flavor in the food cause I see the potential!

They took forever to come back and take our order. The food was average, not bad. They literally nickel and dime you. They charged for the water and drink refills. We bought a plate of mini tacos, a guisada torta, birria tacos plate, a single pancake and 2 bean and cheese tacos. The bill was around $95.00 I wish I would have saved the receipt to upload on here. I also tried this place when it was a steakhouse on 2 separate occasions, it was no Texas Roadhouse but they charged the same and more than Texas Roadhouse. We got steaks, pulled pork and brisket tacos. The pulled pork & steak were ok, nothing special and the brisket looked like they warmed up cold brisket on a griddle and flattened it out. It was thin and kind of crispy from being flattened under a spatula. Overall I wouldn't have recommended it before as a steakhouse but I definitely wouldn't recommend it now as a Mexican restaurant! If u want to waste your time and money, this place is it but other than that SKIP THIS PLACE! Oh and don't get me started on the service fees... it's technically illegal to charge someone for using their debit card!

The young lady that I spoke with was friendly and had a pleasant tone. The food was a bit bland and arrived lukewarm, which took away from the overall experience. I ordered a ribeye with corn on the cob and a salad as my sides. My son ordered a burger with a few modifications, but upon unboxing it, we realized it had everything on it. Not a huge deal, he was able to pick the undesired toppings off. That said, I know takeout doesn't always reflect the quality of dining in, so I'm open to giving it another shot in person. The menu looks promising, and I'd like to see how everything tastes fresh from the kitchen. Not bad, just not memorable this time around.
