    I love this place! For COVID they have a beautiful and colourful back patio, very comfortable. It's my second time at this restaurant, I remember the Ropa vieja being delicious the first time I was here, and decided to try it again... It did not disappoint! On the contrary, I believe this time it was even better! Unfortunately I couldn't have a mojito (they have the best mojitos in town!) But I'll come back again for sure for one or two

    Ate here for a Summerlicious dinner, where the only thing on the menu was anything that's part of their Summerlicious offer. The food and mixed drinks was nonetheless enjoyable, the kind of thing I'd imagine shoving down if I was loafing around a tropical beach--it is supposed to be all Cuban style, eh? I really loved the Ensalada de Chef--a baby spinach salad with blue cheese. Truth be told: blue cheese makes everything better. There's a large rear patio, with enough shade to make you feel more relaxed even in a disgusting heat wave. If you like dining outside with the air serenaded with Latin salsa dance music and punctuated with the competing sound of idling bus engines, then therefore this patio I speak of, my friend, is a hidden paradise on the Danforth. {TTC: right 'round the corner from Broadview subway station.}

    Had the Confit de Canard with Yuca fries and the Bistec a la Planta - New York Steak. There was only one other table dining and felt a little dry like the chicken.

    Great Cuban food but the music is too loud for the small space. The musicians are in the middle of the place and the amplifier is set to way too high of a volume for the room and one needs to yell to be heard at all. Things got better when the musicians got a break. The service is not the fastest, but it is friendly in a non-supplicating way. The 'Tapas' appetizers are 4 for $21 or 1 for $6. They are too small for $6 a piece, so the $21 deal is better value. This time I had the Biftec, their steak, which is the most expensive item on the menu. It was done very well, with yuca fries and vegetable, but tad overpriced for what you get. It is a good place to bring a date and share Tapas.

    Great mariachi band, awesome service, and good food! Try the tapas

    This was a friendly place. We went here for winterlicious. The service is great and music was nice. The good was good but just doesn't have a Cuban vibe. I felt it was ordinary food. I was hoping this place had more of a Cuban experience. That said that's the only reason why I gave it a 3. I was hoping to get a Cuban feel but I did not.

I popped in, sat at the counter, and was greeted immediately by a pleasant woman who took my "to go" order and told me the sandwich would be ready in just a few. While I was waiting, she kindly asked if I needed anything to drink. I declined. Shortly after I took home perhaps the best cubano sandwich I ever had. The warm sandwich had a perfect balance of ingredients. The Cuban bread with a thin crispy crust and soft inside made for a perfect mouth-feel. Absent was globs of mayo and mustard, flavors that often override the real stars of the show, the roast pork and ham. In it's place was a light dressing that complemented the meats perfectly. I've had Cubano sandwichs in Miami and NYC. The Cubano served up at LaCubana is as good, if not better. The only shortcoming: malta (a non- alcoholic malt beverage, popular in Puerto Rico and Cuba) wasn't available.

All cocktails are half priced and we had 5 different cocktails and loved them all. Here's the cocktails I had, in order of most favorite to still favorite: 1) Mango habanero margarita: it's described as being sweet and tangy but definitely has a bit of a kick to it and varies drink to drink depending on how much of their homemade mango habanero hot sauce they add to it. But it's always delicious! 2) Pandaiquiri: it's a clarified cocktail with hints of coconut and pandan. They also have quite a generous pour for this one. I'm not complaining! 3) Carajillo affogato: I would save this one till the end. It's the perfect dessert cocktail to end your night at Bar Habana. It's served with a scoop of boozy ice cream and a spiced rum-espresso combo to pour over. I could drink the drink without the ice cream too, but mix the ice cream into the drink and it's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. 4) Piña colada: pretty solid piña colada and only at #4 cause it wasn't unique to this bar. 5) Reverse mojito: described as light and refreshing but we found this to be a little sweeter than we'd have liked. I would prefer a regular mojito to this, but glad we tried it For food we got the conch fritters, grilled shrimp, honey glazed pork belly, and guava bbq short ribs. The short ribs were amazing and so tender. The portions are pretty good for the price and quite filling. Those 4 dishes were like a meal. The pork belly was good too but I would've liked a bit more pineapple salsa with it. The conch fritters are good for the price but you don't really get much conch in it. If you do get it though, ask for the mango habanero hot sauce to dip instead of the chipotle mayo. And lastly, the grilled shrimp was cooked well and a decent portion. I would definitely go back again, happy hour or not.

This is such a restaurant. But for the greater good, and because it totally deserves to be hyped up, I'm gonna share this gem with you! Granted, I have only been here once and I had never had Nicaraguan food before but everything this restaurant served up from drinks to appetizers to mains to dessert was unbelievable. It may look like nothing special on paper and even look understated on the plate but once it's in your mouth your tastebuds are in for a ride! Let me explain a bit more...the "tacos" look like a sundae collided with a salad on the plate but when you break it up and try it the crunch and the sweet and the sour just works like magic! I ordered the Churrasco but swapped out the mashed potato with rice and beans - how the Nicaraguans eat it I was told - and boy was I glad I listened! I have never downed so much rice and beans so quickly in my life; normally I avoid them so that's testament to how tasty it was. 3 out of all 3 of the desserts were delicious but the standout favourite among my party was surprisingly the cheesecake, so don't knock it till you try it. The atmosphere is lively and colourful, and the service was great too! That's it; I think I've shared enough - you're welcome

The restaurant stayed busy throughout dinner, with a steady flow of customers coming in, and after the meal I could understand why. We started with the soup of the day, which was an oxtail soup. It tasted very fresh, rich, and comforting, with a lovely fragrance that made it especially satisfying. For the main course, we ordered the fish of the day, a whole fried sea bass, and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was crispy outside, tender inside, and full of flavor without feeling heavy. It also came with fried plantains, which were such a nice touch and made the meal feel even more special. Overall, this was a wonderful first experience with Nicaraguan cuisine, and definitely a place I would happily come back to.

It was our first time so we asked the staff what he recommended and homie came through! The Colombian Salchipapa is basically a fully loaded Cuban fries supreme on steroids. There was plantain, pulled pork, cilantro lime chicken, chorizo, cheese, and corn, all topped with hickory sticks. All of that paired with their house-made tartar sauce was heavenly with the best flavors and textures. The Cubano Smoked Brisket Sanguich was also incredible. There's smoked brisket, roasted mojo pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and fried onions, all stuffed in Cuban bread. The brisket and pork were super tender and juicy too. It was such a satisfying chew that we literally ate in silence while nodding in approval the whole time, lol. Hot tip: we had leftover tartar sauce from the salchipapa, so we poured it on our sanguich and it made it even better! Definitely worth getting it on the side if you're getting the sanguich alone.

Staff were friendly off the bat and very attentive after each dish was finished, making sure to wipe off the table or exchanging the plates which I was really impressed with despite how busy they were. We decided to go with their tasting menu where you gave them a price range you wanted to stick to - I believe it was $85-$200, and you can mention some dishes you definitely want to try and they curate the rest for you which I thought was so unique! I loved the idea of that. The dishes we really wanted were the octopus, bone marrow and scallops. The only standout dishes to me were the scallops, and a salad I cannot remember the name of but was so shocked at how good just a simple salad could be. Other than that, the other dishes were still good, but nothing extraordinary to be honest. The octopus was a bit too charred which was disappointing as it was what I was looking forward to the most. The tasting menu we got also had mainly vegetable dishes (other than the ones I just mentioned), so was hoping to get a few more meat dishes. This is definitely a great spot for vegetarians as it had a lot of veggie dishes. I would still come back to maybe try some of their other more meat focused dishes.
