The space is tiny, but the afternoon tea was amazing. Both the tea and food were fantastic!

I'm so glad I tried it because I hadn't been planning to get anything but once I tasted it, it had me SOLD. I was so sad when I finished the bar even though I was savoring it like Charlie from the Chocolate Factory book BUT I'm buying a whole bunch for my family's stocking stuffers for Christmas (they each picked out their own flavor and I'll order them all together) and for my own Christmas presents, hehe. So excited to try more flavors but mainly, to have my favorite brown butter chocolate again! Really high quality chocolate, have never experienced such a rich and complex taste in chocolate that melts so beautifully in my mouth. Normally I'm a die hard dark chocolate fan but the brown butter milk chocolate is so rich that it gives dark chocolate vibes. PS Thanks to the sweet cashier for changing my chocolate life forever!!

The shop was clean and bright and when you first walk in you are surrounded with all the chocolate goodies on the shelves. The bar making experience is in the back but Tim the owner said they are expanding their Pearl location so in the future this experience will be over in their other location. Tim was funny and engaging and gave an amazing presentation about chocolate and their shop's history and future. I loved that they take pride in their sustainability and responsible sourcing and were so touched by their family stories. You can clearly feel the love and the passion for chocolate and the joy they bring with their tasty treats and experiences. The whole experience took about 2 hours (hairnets and all) but we really learned a lot and got to be creative with our toppings and took home our yummy treats (and bought extra chocolate from the shop). Please come support this wonderful local business and treat yourself to some world-class chocolate!

It's always empty here in Beaverton for a reason. Hillsboro…read moreand Lake Oswego... read up. This is a biz model that you will see through. From bulks tea to repackaging. Marketing at best- designed branding and upscale look. That's how they can charge triple. Profit margins of middlemen example. Their tea from Africa is probably the best gimmick here, note: order extra hot (which you will get lukewarm) don't order cold it's horrible. Anyhow we are tea drinkers in nature and didn't get any sense of aroma. It might taste better if you fool yourself that the owner isn't American, up to your judgement ;) I know because I have good friend from Kenya. Many authentic women/minority for good cause out there that you can prove. Gimmicks are everywhere be careful. My recommendation for loose tea to take home; Tea is originated in Asia- here in Beaverton there are great options 1. Asian market for Oulong, Jasmine, Puerh, or 2. Apna Indian market for Chai, or 3. Uwajimaya for authentic matcha, Genmaicha, etc. Educate yourself go get a real deal. You pay a lot less for good stuff plus organic options, get air tight tin containers from Michaels, best consume within a year. And honey from farmers market is real local. Don't be fooled. Talk to the people who make things, not the repacking business. Afternoon tea? Invest in a set of tea pot, order British earl grey, grab pastries from New Seasons and do better yourself or if you have a lot of money left grab a flight to London, skip the fake expensive ones. Warn you.

He doesn't drink much coffee, but after Italy, he knows when it is a good drink. This is located inside a chocolate factory - none other than Woodblock, the best of the best. Now they've added SUPER delicious baked goods! Last time we got their chocolate chip cookie that is finished with a big slice of woodblock milk chocolate in the center. I also got a mini cinnamon roll, and for me, the cheese puff. The cheese puff is the combination of a popover and the best of alpine cheeses. I always end up getting a special bar or two for a host gift or just for my sons. The space is beautiful - high ceilings, lots of light and wood. I have two teen boys, so I spend PAINFUL amounts of time in the car shuttling them, delivering stuff to them. I will choose that drive for a Woodblock morning!

The retail section also has single origin chocolate bars from Ecuador and Peru, drinking chocolate, beautiful bars peppered with various add ons, chocolate covered hazelnuts and more. All packaged beautifully - perfect hostess or just because gifts! Woodblock has designed a beautiful space. Inside, when you enter, there are tables and chairs for those that want to enjoy chocolate, tea or coffee beverages and snacks there. Further back is the Counter that offers bakery items like chocolate chip cookies, savory cheddar & jalapeño scones, croissants and muffins. They have a variety of drinks which of course includes hot cocoa! But also matcha lattes, mocha's. Chai lattes and chocolate sodas To name a few. Located one door down from NE Broadway on NE 17th, It's worth stopping in! Sure, you can buy their chocolates at several retail places around Portland, but here, you can enjoy fresh pastries and chocolate drinks and purchase goodies to go.
