So when I did a quick search and saw Miller's only five minutes from my worksite, I figured I'd give it a shot. I honestly wasn't expecting much. From the outside, the place looked surprisingly classy, and inside I was greeted and seated right away. My hostess -- who also turned out to be my waitress -- recommended the special of the day: a three-bone rib plate. That sounded good, so I ordered it with tangy coleslaw. She also suggested I try their bacon bourbon topping on the ribs. I'm usually a dry-rub guy, so I asked for the sauce on the side. When my food came out, I actually got four ribs -- and let me tell you, they were amazing. Probably the best ribs I've had this side of Memphis, Tennessee. I ate them dry but dipped into that bacon bourbon sauce every few bites, and before I was done I was tempted to lick the bowl clean. It was that good. The slaw, on the other hand, wasn't quite as tangy as I'd hoped -- a little underwhelming next to those incredible ribs -- but overall, the meal was fantastic. My waitress, Chloe (I hope I've got the name right!), was friendly, attentive, and kept my Dr. Pepper filled the entire time -- which always makes me happy. I thanked her for the recommendation and told her I'd definitely be back. I can't wait to bring my coworkers next time and show them what they've been missing at Miller's on Broadnax!

I was happy to see the okra wasn't thickly breaded -- it was thin, crispy, and you could actually see the okra through the coating. That's my favorite kind! The corn nuggets were okay, just not something I'd go out of my way for. After the meal, we tried an appetizer of their giant cheese balls -- definitely something new for me. The cheese inside was a bit runny, so I probably wouldn't get them again, but everyone else around us seemed to love them. Our server was on time and generally adequate, though she did let my tea run dry and I had to flag her down for a refill. My only gripe is that this place is in serious need of some updating. It doesn't have to be modernized, but my god the air in here is like soup and everything in here is sticky. I felt like I needed a shower after eating, partly because I was stuffed with a giant greasy burger, but also because the air in there is soup. I love the old school atmosphere, but the humidity is a real problem. It's hot and humid enough outside most of the year. $35 for two burgers and fries in an old building, surely they make enough money to replace the tables and chairs with ones that aren't sticky and can get some decent HVAC to suck the moisture out of the air. The food is 4 stars for me, but the shape the inside is in drags the overall rating down. It's a very popular spot, and the environment really needs some work.
