OMG! How can you not love this place! I so wish I could remember the name of the neighborhood beagle (or maybe Bassett hound) that found his way inside where I was there! Their food tastes as if your grandmother is in their kitchen. My favorite thing to order is their homemade yeast rolls. They melt in your mouth and I'm not troubled by kneading or waiting for the dough to rise in my kitchen! I consider them so favorable I take home several dozen to freeze for later use. Other delicious items I prefer are fried or blackened catfish and grilled hamburgers. I eat few items but my friends and family voraciously consume from their extensive menu and are invariably satisfied! If you are fortunate Oscar will be there delighting diners with her humorous personality and upbeat attitude. If you meet her you will hope she's there every time you dine. Been visiting Lake Martin for a few years but this was our first trip to Poplar Dawg's. Good service and great food. Probably some of the best baby back ribs I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Happened to grab a cabin rental on the lake. Forgot our food and needed a quick bite before we started our day. This was the closest open spot. We took a family of over 10 and ate a fantastic and filling lunch for about $90 which included a few alcoholic beverages. We waited 3 hours! And the lobster was not cooked well it stuck to the shell and I had to scrap it off the shell and literally had 3 bites the best thing I ate and really the only thing I ate was the baked potato, we will probably need to make a sandwich when we get home, so many people were upset about the wait and there was no Organization when you walk it there is not a sign that says wait to be seated so people were just walking around asking what to do to be seated read more

We have a house on the lake and make it a point to visit Poplar Dawg's every time we are in town. They have THE BEST sandwiches, great desserts, and AMAZING staff! All of their sandwich meat is Boar's Head and it is VERY fresh. Every sandwich is served hot (pan seared meat and cheese) with a side. One of the best places in town!!! I don't know if they have a new cook, but the food was amazing. We all had steak, pork chops chicken and it was fantastic food. It was better than the Spring House and the prices were much better. Last year, I wasn't too impressed with the sandwich I had, so we really stopped going. We live close, so we will definitely be going back!!! read more

I have been eating here for years and always had the best steaks and service. Tonight it took 45 minutes to get food and filet was burned.( Ordered medium). I said something to waitress about it taking so long and she said there was a new owner and cook. Won't be in business long with this service and food. read more

Had the Reuben Sandwich., it's delicious.. Gave 3 stars because service is not good. Took an hour from the time I ordered to the time delivered. Also, owner needs a better way to handle the check out. To go orders seem to take precedence. Why not have waitresses take the check up to the cashier? read more

Have eaten at Poplar Dawg's a number of times. We especially like Thursday Prime rib nights. The rib is small (about 14 ounces) but is tasty and plenty for us. They will tend to overcook it so ask them to cook it as you like it. read more
