We initially sat in a booth, but the restaurant only had two highchairs, and both had broken safety straps. I was not comfortable putting my baby in one, so I had to improvise with our car seat. Because of how small the restaurant is, this made it difficult for the table behind us to get in and out. The server also had to squeeze past us while carrying hot plates of food, including passing them over my baby. For safety, I ended up having to hold my baby while we ate. We eventually moved to a larger table because it was open. Shortly afterward, a large group came in, and we immediately felt like we were being rushed out. Our table was being picked up as if we were finished, and when my wife asked for a refill, the manager/owner questioned how much she wanted because she didn't want to waste a full cup if it wasn't going to be finished. Throughout the rest of the meal, we felt like we were being watched and given the impression that we needed to hurry up and leave. At one point, another customer commented to the server about our baby crying, and the server responded that he had "been like that for about 20 minutes." We were so uncomfortable and rushed that we barely enjoyed our meal. My wife was literally still chewing as we were walking out. I understand that restaurants get busy, and I understand that babies can be noisy. But families with children are customers too. If babies and young children are not welcome, it would be better to simply make that clear rather than make a family feel unwelcome while they are trying to eat.
