Me and my wife love this little gem. The view is the best in Del Rio and the food is always good. We love the atmosphere, there's nothing better than a nice dinner at a calm relaxing spot. The staff is always friendly and super helpful i love how the beer is always served with a chilled glass. I guess as we have gotten older we enjoy going somewhere where you can carry on a normal conversation and not have to raise your voice. Please know this is a family restaurant and service tends to be a lot slower than you are used to, so it might not be for you. read more

Historic Memo's has still got the touch! Arguably one of the better sit downs in Del Rio, you'll get authentic Mexican food with a gorgeous view of the San Felipe creek. If you appreciate history and fast service with a "family owned and operated" atmosphere I would recommend calling ahead to make a reservation first. Excellent homemade salsa and queso, and any fajita option will be a safe bet. Just make it clear if you're sensitive to spicy like I am. On Thursday's they have live music! Recommended by a friend of mine so decided to check this place out. It is located right before the mini-bridge on E Losoya Street on the side of the road; though there are no big signs it's relatively easy to find since it's right before the bridge and also the only store on that corner next to a small dead-end alley (Calderon Ln). Parking is not bad though I arrived late past 20:00 in the evening, I was able to find a spot in front of the restaurant to park. I imagine if you arrive earlier during busy hours you may have to park on the street somewhere closeby. They have free baked tortilla chips, which is nice; you do have to request for non-spicy sauce if you can't take spice, since their default sauce is relatively spicy (as a non-spice eater). Ordered the beef stew enchiladas with guacamole, which came with beans, sliced lettuce, carrots and cheese, very authentically hispanic, giving a home-made feel and the portions are pretty large. Thought the food was not particularly exciting, it is pretty decent. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, though they seem to be a bit understaffed on that evening. The prices I would say slightly higher than what it's worth, but overall reasonable. If you love live music, this is the place to be on Thursday evenings since they invite live bands to perform. They also have a pool table where you can play, which was quite nice. The ambiance is very homey and easy-going, relatively clean with a bar at the left flank of the restaurant so you don't need to order full meals and can just come and chill at the bar. Of course, if you enjoy restaurants with a history, this is a must-go because they have many historic photos dated 80+ years. Last but not least, you can also come here for the view - the windows of the restaurant glances out to a large park with a beautiful blue river. If they can get innovative with their menu and reduce the pricing, it would be a 5-star restaurant. Potentially the top restaurants in Del Rio! Keep up the good work Memo's! read more

I had chicken tacos that were somewhat bland and came with the standard beans and rice, nothing to get excited about on anything just ok food. The location is so beautiful, and our server was so sweet and wonderful... However, the food is terrible. When I say TERRIBLE, I mean terrible. I got sick when I got home and I'm still sick this morning I had the taco salad with chicken and it was beyond bad... I'll eat anything, so I went forward, even though my grandmother warned me the chicken looked bad... anyway, I'm certainly paying the price now. We went on Saturday night and there were never more than 4 tables inside the whole place. With the view and location being a beautiful as it is, it's an absolute shame the menu is as lazily outdated as it is... Del Rio certainly lacks in the restaurant department, but this place could change that if they changed their food suppliers, menus, and spruced up the place a bit. read more

The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of two was because of the beautiful view. I ordered chalupas and was given two stale tostadas with a crap ton of beans, questionable shredded chicken and one tablespoon of cheese...lukewarm and flavorless. But the worst part about it is the service. Our waitress was SO SO SO rude. Anytime one of my friends or I asked her a question, she just stared us down with daggers for eyes and answered in the most unhelpful way possible, usually just a curt "no." I never received the side of cheese I asked for and I sat at the table for an hour and a half before receiving my food. The music was so loud no one could talk to each other at the table, I'm sure I won't get my hearing back for at least 10 min after I leave the restaurant....and I still don't have my cheese. Memo's has some seriously good TexMex on their menu. Everything from their enchiladas to their guisada burritos were on point. I've only been in Del Rio a week but I've been back two times now. That ought to tell you something. My understanding is that it's a Del Rio landmark and treasure. First, to address a comment about supposedly "hard" tortilla chips. Well, if by hard, you mean fresh and made in house then, yes, they are thicker than stuff you'd buy at the grocery store. They also happen to be infinitely better tasting than any other commercial tortilla chip I've had sans Julio's. So there's that. Their salsa is pretty tasty as well. Their menu is fairly standard for a TexMex place and everything I have tried was done well. I whole heartedly recommend the guisada. It's tender and the sauce is tasty. The rice and beans are about on par with any other decent TexMex restaurant. Today they had a buffet which looked good but I went with guisada burritos instead. I didn't regret my choice! Yum. They have live music on Thursday nights, I believe. It is my understanding that it often gets crowded--I've yet to go, so I cannot confirm first hand--so you may want to call ahead if you decide to go for dinner that evening. Aside from the food, the second best part of Memo's is the friendly waitstaff and management. Dolly is such a wonderful person to speak with and knows quite a bit of Del Rio's history. Also, as others have alluded to, is that Memo's sits upon the banks of the San Felipe springs. There's a short (1/2 mile long) walkway that you can walk along to work off some of that delicious food should you choose to do so--just walk across the bridge to the park on the opposite side of the creek from Memo's and take a stroll. Or, if you have a mind, a dip in the water as many of the local kids are want to do. read more

Visita this place on recommendation of my colleagues. We got there and The place is nice, clean and has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Sits next to a spring fed river with a nice open view of it. We got sat and the server took our order. Overall the meal was good. I eat a good amount of Mexican food and I have to say, this place is just average. This place sits in a hidden location but with a good view and found it to be a great place if the owner would make it more of an upscale place with even some outside sitting over looking the river. Additionally, the reason for yummy three star review is that the restaurant had some good dessert options but a couple were not available because they had run out of and not ordered more and the cheesecake was still frozen and wouldn't thaw out in time. Again, good place, but the quality needs to step up. With some additional focus on the food and deserts this place could be the best in Del Río. Right now it's on par with other Mexican food options. Rating this long established local restaurant is challenging. The atmosphere is nice, with a comfy neighborhood vibe and a nice view of a park with a tourquise stream. Unfortunately the chicken fried steak I had for lunch, while not stringy like so many, was so bland as to be tasteless. The tacos were slightly better except for the hard orange tomatoes. The fries were good though skimpy. The "salad" consisted of a couple leaves of iceberg lettuce and half a slice of tasteless tomato. The biggest negative was the shock of finding that the actual prices were as much as 50% higher than those in their website. At the web prices this would be a solid 4. As is I feel it a stretch to give them a three. read more

I was very disappointed in a restaurant that I held in high regard. Our delivery order was handled in a totally unprofessional manner. We ordered two orders of the 3 tacos, one order had only two tacos with only meat in them. Two 10 piece orders of pericos contained only 8. Second the complaint about the drinks. Charged me 1.25 for a can of Coke which I think is robbery! Decided to eat inside since our last pickup of food was horrible. Tonight the service was ok. When our food was delivered to our table we were missing two meals, one for our toddler who was already not happy because it took so long and one of the meal brought out was missing the chicken in the enchiladas!!! We used to eat there regularly, but about two years ago they started charging for extra chiips and salsa. With your meal you only get one bowl of chips and one small cup of salsa which isn't enough for two. When you order more salsa they charge you a dollar fifty for the small watered down stuff and $2.00 for an extra bowl of chips. I'd much rather they raise their prices than to nickel and dime you into a $40.00 meal. Sad, used to be a great place to eat. read more

I had dinner there with my dad and son while in town for a bass tournament. Never again! After eating the chicken enchiladas I was fearing food poisoning... the chicken tasted like it was made a week before (so stale/dry) Everyone in our group could only stand to eat less than half of our plates (and we were starving!). We should have known better! We were the only people there at 7:45PM on Sat. To add insult to injury the service was slow and indifferent, I felt we were interupting their B/S session the employees had going in the corner! Over all, this place is pretty good and we will definitely be back. I will admit the bathroom was pretty gross and dated- they could benefit from some renovating. Other than that, the atmosphere was really nice; the back of the restaurant is lined with large windows overlooking the creek, there's a stage with a grand piano where we were told live music is played every Thursday, and the stone walls and wood accents gave the place a cozy, classic feel. The service was friendly and attentive; they even opened 20 min early because they noticed we were waiting in our car for them to open. Even after it got busy, our server was as attentive as possible and very apologetic for any long absence. Much like the other reviews say, the drinks are a bit pricey here for what you get... margaritas in Del Rio are not very good in general but I still have to mention that the margaritas here are way too sweet. The food was pretty good! The chips are fresh and crispy, the salsa is flavorful and spicy (could have been chunkier but that's a personal preference), I don't really recommend the guacamole- it's essentially unseasoned mashed avocado and diced tomato- but the Mexican dinner was tasty (I ordered the small and they gave me a large but still only charged for the small, which was awesome!). The beef taco that came with the meal was SO good- they did a good job of seasoning the beef. Also, the cooks were really accommodating; I ordered beans in my enchilada which I realize isn't typical but it's what I was craving and they agreed to do it. Good food for cheap! For me, Memo's was about a 3.5, but I'll round-up. The food was fine, though pricey for the smaller portion size. I had the "large" Mexican plate and it was half the food you get at other places, but it still cost $12. Tea was over $2. Sitting by the windows gives you a nice view, and the restaurant does have a long history. The decor is very old-fashioned, but then again it is an old place. Overall I'll come back again, but I do see room for improvement. read more
