The shirts in here are very cute but the service and the people working here are the worst. We had two strollers and the back door was locked we asked the person to open it they were sitting at the checkout counter all three chatting and seem to be bothered by the intrusion. There were no customers. I overheard another customer asking a question and one of the very rude sales associates told her we don't have that shirt. She could have directed her to a shirt in the store that may have been similar but she just went back to chatting with her colleagues. If I own the store all of them would be fired. We've been in the store before and had a lovely experience but after this visit we will not be back. My mom had to interrupt their conversation to ask for assistance and they were rude to her as well. read more

My son purchased a Malibu t shirt for me at the Denver airport. I was pretty excited about it as I grew up flying on TWA. My dad worked for them over 30 years. Not impressed at all with the quality of the logo on this shirt. The colors are off and the lettering edges are not well defined. I had purchased a similar t shirt at the TWA Hotel at JFK and it was far superior in quality and the logo was spot on. I reached out to Malibu Shirts customer service and was told, "Our prints are distressed because that is the market we cater to." I personally would not have made the purchase had I been present. Certainly anyone who appreciates a great airline like TWA would not walk around with a "distressed" logo on their shirt. $30 lesson learned. Maybe I can trade it in for a distressed PanAm t-shirt. read more

Received absolutely terrible customer service from this company. My first experience buying clothing from them resulted in my shipped package being lost. THEIR COMPANY POLICY ON LOST PACKAGES IS TO NOT REFUND OR OFFER CREDIT TO THE CUSTOMER. They told me to file a suit against the shipping company and said it "could take multiple months for it to be resolved" My money is gone and I do not have the product I paid for. update: I stand by my opinion about the store itself; however, following this review, I did have a pleasant and productive experience with the corporate customer service office and they were willing to hear me out and address my concern. Terrible customer service and products. I spent a lot of money at this store and upon the first wear (not even outside of my hotel room) the shirt began to fall apart. I brought it back to the store for an exchange and they were terribly rude and refused to honor the exchange despite the obvious defect. I followed up with a phone call and email to the store's management and so far have had no response. Be wary before you spend time or money ($40 for a t-shirt... It started by me asking if people are really getting tickets for not wearing masks, again, we both had masks on. All tourists are checked prior to coming over to Hawaii. I adore this store and all of its great quality, vintage prints. The shirts last forever and are such an amazing souvenir. Unfortunately, my most recent visit in was terrible because of the woman working the store. (Blonde hair and lots of piercings just in case you're looking to improve your customer service) Super rude to everyone inside and clearly hated that she was having to refold all of the shirts people were looking at. It's obvious customers are a nuisance to you - here's a tip: if hate your job, get a different one. You ruin the brand you represent when you have a nasty attitude. read more

LOVED this shirt shop!! So many cool vintage prints. I got a few shirts--my favorite being the endless summer throw back and the primo beer shirts. I wore it home and my grandma was like WHERE DID YOU GET THAT!! My dad used to drink that (my great grandpa). I started showing her pics of the store and it brought back so many great memories of when she was growing up. I ordered a few more so I can surprise her and they got here faster than I expected. Thought I would give Malibu Shirts a try while on vacation...I bought a long sleeve shirt at their Waikiki Beach Walk location and the screen print washed 95% out, in first wash...wrote to the store and they called to tell me they would do nothing... buy 99.9% of my shirts at Crazy Shirts...better weight and quality materials and their screen print has NEVER washed out any percentage... read more

Awesome place to get your Maui souvenir shirt without it being too touristy-looking! They get the rights to old Hawaii t-shirt designs and then reprint them. Cool designs from things like Waikiki Surf Club and old soda shops! The staff members LOVE Hawaii and its rich history. They are very knowledgable about the history of the designs, which is also printed on the tags of each shirt to take a reminder home with you, and are excited to tell you about each shirt! Originals of the designs are on display throughout the store. Don't miss it if your in Whaler's Village! There was a check in offer when I was there, so check in before checking out and ya just might get lucky. read more

The vintage designs at this place are very cool but the quality of their shirts could be better. They're not super soft like most tee shirts are now. Oh and they are expensive! They can be a little snooty too; I asked the guy at the Wailea location why the store is called Malibu shirts and he snippily replied, "Why not?! You can name a store whatever you want to!" Okaaaay, I knew there was a back story so I asked ant another store. The story is that the owner is from Malibu and original opened his store there,, then went on to open more stores in Hawaii and has since closed the Malibu location. This place is AWESOME. High quality, unique and original vintage designs, and the stores (there are 6 across the Hawaiian Islands) are INCREDIBLE. Like stepping back in time! This store had a lot of old favorite designs and brought back a lot of memories. From old primo shirts to pan am designs and many other local favorites. I wish this place were a little more affordable, but they do offer a kamaaina discount. Soon to be opening in wailea, from what I heard. Great place for gifts. Went out of my way to check out their "Used, Vintage and Consignment Clothing". There were none. This store sells NEW, 'vintage inspired' clothing. As some of the other reviewers have noted, this is a great place to get souvenir t-shirts that aren't super-touristy. I am not normally one to buy t-shirts for myself on vacation, but I walked out of the store with 3. The employees (who are very friendly and helpful) explained that they have the rights for old Hawaii-related logos/designs and now print them on t-shirts, and they took the time to explain the backstory of each shirt I picked out--who knew that OGG (the airport code for the main Maui airport) was chosen by a pilot who flew there all the time (in case you're curious, his last name was Hogg but he didn't want to shorten it to HOG so he chose OGG :-)). They have a ton of different designs and styles for both men and women, and lots of other cool memorabilia as well. Prices are little more expensive than you'd pay at a regular "tourist-trap" store, but in my opinion you're getting your money's worth based on the unique items and the fact that there's a story behind each one. read more
