Big silver airstream across the street from the old Maui pine office, near Pau Vodka distillery in Haliimaile. Stopped there on a whim morning. Ordered 2 lattes. One hot and one cold and a smoothie. Service was good. Very friendly. Our order took less than 10min to make. Nice! However, wish there was a roof or tent to block out the summer sun. We were baking! Smoothie was great! No ice added. Yummy and refreshing. My iced latte was HOT. Not temperature hot, but spicy hot. I was baffled. But then I remembered they had a drink called Pele's Latte. The description says it has Hawaiian chili peppers infused into the drink. Not my thing. Chili pepper coffee? Ummm, no thanks. But it seems I got that anyways. Not sure if they didn't wash the frother or maybe the pot, but my iced latte was undrinkable. My husband's hot latte also had the same spiciness, but not nearly much as mines. If someone with a sensitivity to spicy peppers drank this, it could've been bad. Thankfully, I love heat. Just not in my coffee.

    Such a cute set up!

We had heard about this new gem in the country and tried it for the first time today. Wow, what a delight!!! Location is gorgeous, the design...very appealing, and the coffee 100%! Of course we had to try the fall special, Pumpkin Spiced Latte was like Christmas in a cup. Very friendly service by Daniella! We will definitely make this a weekly stop as we head to the beach!

We were heading back from a sunrise at Haleakalā when I decided to check Yelp for good nearby coffee places and this popped up, so we headed on over. This coffee shop is on Baldwin Ave in Makawao and the inside is pretty large with lots of seating. They also have a display case with baked goods over by where you order. After looking over the menu I ultimately decided on one of their specials, a cherry vanilla latte, which I don't think I have seen before in a coffee. After only a couple of minute wait, I had my latte and was out the door. My coffee here ended up tasting really good, almost like a cherry vanilla ice cream. The cherry flavor came first and that was followed by the sweet vanilla. While I know the coffee was there, it got lost a bit with the cherry vanilla flavoring. Still, I enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. A cherry vanilla latte is a new combo for me, but I enjoyed it and only wish the espresso was a bit more pronounced.

Housed in a cute but surprisingly spacious trolley car in the Kulamalu center, Crema Maui also offers t-shirts, earrings, coffee-related gear, plants, and other great accessories. There's a good sized outdoor seating area that's just right for early-morning quiet contemplation or for people watching later in the day as the nearby shops get busier, with music in the background that's comforting and peaceful (unlike the aural assault too many places seem to think means "hip" these days). I got a plain latte, which was perfectly done, and a chocolate cruffin, which was a decadent and delicious treat--flaky, with crunchy outer layers and soft center, filled with rich dark chocolate that was smooth and not too sweet. A wonderful way to start the day!

Crema, cream in Spanish, is a local cafe located on Makawao's Kupaoa and Ohia Ku. What makes the…read moreplace unique is that it's outside, in a retro trolley bus. Seeing that the place has limited hours on a daily basis, get there early. I figure this is a good place to go heavy on cafe drinks for seeing that I lost a hefty bet against one of my brothers regarding the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The bet details? Had the Knicks come back from the 3-1 hole, I'd get a Mr. Patrick Ewing jersey, but because the Pacers won 4-2, I need to get him a Tyrese Haliburton sweater and the price differential. Normally, I'll type the usual "Yes guys, the girls are cute" statement (I know you all are thinking "You just did!" now), but though that statement is true here, the opening statement I really want to type for paragraph 2 on my review of Crema is basically "Chickens"! Totally random, but let me explain. Chickens and roosters have been good luck charms regarding food places, and I believe pigeons may have joined in on the fun also according to 2 of my brothers. Places without chickens have been hit or miss spots. Really! From what I remember, with the mixed berry muffin, I had a decaf Americano, a Blue Moon drink, and one of their "Gochiusa" name quirk drinks in the Beatrice, a matcha ice latte with cookie crumbles and local strawberries. Kind of hard for me to get the balance of caffeine needed as I woke up at 2 in the morning to see the sunrise at Haleakala National Park, but I made the process work! I think. Anyway, the drinks are that good. The muffin's a good brunch to have. I believe the sister that did the driving and planning said that she likes the music and the incorporation of sourdough breakfast items like the English muffin, and I agree. I suppose I better list a flaw. I don't know. The place could use another food item with vegetables. Yes, I am aware that Clover has spoiled me so much, but this constructive statement is just that: constructive. Crema is a real clever spot. The girls will be as beloved as the "onee-chan"/"still young lady"/"forever 17 lady" of Clover (read or watch a series like "Love Hina" or "Angelic Layer" way early on along with knowing who Inoue Kikuko-san if you're wondering why I have these quirky words in quotation marks) some day. (My mom claims that she's forever 16.) I know this review has so many wacky words that make it as wacky as "Wacky Races" (I feel old for typing that series up), but the important part to remember about this review is go visit Crema. Thank me later. +/Crema is a cool cafe for its retro look, hospitality and good, good foods and drinks! -/Outside of having one more food item with vegetables, that's it.

You can tell they prep their own coffee beans. The lilikoi pop tart was good, tart and tasty and not overly sweet. The blueberry muffin good too. However the artichoke pastry was dry and unseasoned and I had to leave half of it as it just wasn't worth eating. First time this has happened here as we usually love their food and coffee. I had heard about the Maui Cookie Lady cookies in early 2016 and knew that I had to get one the next time we visited. At that time, the cookies were only available at various local markets that would get a delivery once or twice a week. There was no dedicated retail store then. In November 2016, it finally happened! I was able to find a small supply of Mitzi's, the Maui Cookie Lady's, cookies at the Market Maui (since closed). My first cookie was Da Half Baked - a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with Reese's, Snickers, AND Oreo! OMG...only a super creative cookie chef extraordinaire could have imagined such a delight! I knew that I would be a fan forever!! On every subsequent trip, I sought out the amazing cookies. It wasnʻt always easy to find them, as the batches were small and offered in very limited locations. I would be on a mission and never gave up until I found them. My friends and co-workers were always so excited when I brought them back a "world-famous Maui Cookie Lady" cookie when I returned from Maui. In late 2020, the year after my last trip to Maui, the Maui Cookie Lady opened up a retail shop in Makawao. I haven't been able to stop by in person yet, but I will be going the next time I visit. I tell all my friends about the cookies, and several have been able to stop by the cute shop. When I am lucky, a friend will bring back some ono cookies for me. The Maui Cookie Lady cookies are not like most of the cookies you are used to eating. The first thing that you will notice is that they are really big!! I like to say that they are "gargantuan"! The second thing is that they are made with creative ingredients that may be familiar to you, or they may be new. Many of the varieties incorporate local ingredients lilikoi, Kona coffee, and macadamia nuts. The combination of flavors will excite any cookie loverʻs taste buds. Donʻt worry if you are not local to stop by the shop in person. You can order cookies online, individually or via the monthly subscription box. If you are visiting and want to take a few home with you, know that they can be frozen and stay great when you want to enjoy them. They do not contain preservatives, which I think is a big plus. In addition to creating great cookies, Mitzi is a big supporter of the community. She helps with various fundraising efforts to help those in Maui. As a former teacher, she is connected to educators in Hawaiʻi and their special needs. Once I get back to Maui, I will visit the store and update this review. I can't wait!
