If I could give 0 stars I would! First time I order from here and already a bad experience. Not only was the manager rude on the phone when my husband ordered she rushed him. I get it a Sunday but there is no reason to be fucking rude. Secondly, the driver brings our order she called 3:10 I missed the call, but on her second call which was 3:12, I picked up and went outside. I asked her how much it was and with an attitude, she told me 36 I had 30 so I went back inside to get the rest. When she had called the second time she gave an attitude saying that she had called many times and we weren't picking up the phone. She had only made one call mind you. So I told her next time to learn not to give an attitude to clients. She was like what you going to do hit me. I came here with 2 other people and the place was empty. The environment looks old and out dated, really needs a make over. Note you are not seated you find a seat yourself. Waitress came in a average time but her body language seemed like she really didn't want to be here. I ordered rice and pork, I have to say the pork was flavorless. Its like biting into watered down meat, no seasonings or anything was tatsed. The rice helped swallow it down. Then again you can get that type of rice or better anywhere else. It was alright. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but the beef stew was good. Portion was small but the rice and beans were also good. The pollo guisado was not my favorite just looked weird and lacked seasoning. The waitress was nice but the service was slow. The place itself seems clean and comfy. The cashier, who has usually been nothing but kind, used profanity toward my 15 and 13 year old brothers due to one of them "looking like a guy that spit on her on several occasions. " When I approached her to ask about the incident she gave me attitude, did not provide me with a manager, also didn't care that I have been a long time customer. We've order multiple times and every time this place messes up our order. We keep giving it another try because why not, one more chance...well after this time NEVER again! We're a family of 5, we also order the family combo, yet this time as per the woman taking the orders we didn't, we only ordered 3 things. We customized our order, so the fact that she was saying we didn't order the combo, told us she messed up and didn't want to admit it. My husband called and the best solution was him returning all the food to get our money back. So when he gets to the restaurant, she then offers to fix the combo with he missing items, she also refuses to call the manager. She told him wait until she gets back, really?? That's how your customer service works? Ultimately we end up having to wait for the manager to call him back and my hubby brings home pizza. Manager calls back and attempts an explanation but still makes no sense and they don't so refunds. It might have been my lucky day or they realized too many bad reviews hurt's Malecon. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because they do deserve. I ordered mofongo seafood, it took a bit longer than I expected but it was worth waiting for it. Huge portion, half a grilled lobster lots of clams, mussels, calamari, etc Service was ok but it could be better, at least it wasn't inattentive service, my waitress was very nice and friendly. Overall it was really good considering the other reviews, but in my opinion they are trying to improve. I'll definitely come back to see if I'm right or wrong. read more

Rotisserie chicken NOT! my husband brought a chicken, Yuca and green bananas on Wednesday night, it was rubber, and in the inside RAW.. it had been season with Sazon! Mi Gente Sazon is good for stews! I have been cooking for more than 42 years I could tell you the chicken was boiled! yes boiled had more sazon that the chicken was RED! then thown in the broiler so it could look like rotisserie the only part that look like rotisserie was the UPPER PART OF THE drum sticks the rest was as RED as when the chicken was thrown in the broiler..the worst is yet to come! THE NEXT DAY IT HAD SPOILED! the smell was horrible! the Yuca was hard so were the bananas..being Spanish I will rate your food a big fat ZERO.. The worst service ever! We brought our friends from Texas and their two children for a late lunch at 2 p.m. on Sunday after church. Our friend is a minister and was wearing his collar. They used to live in the area 10 years ago and remembered Malecon fondly. Besides us, there were about three couples eating and a party of 12. We ordered batidos for the kids and 6 meals. We got one bread basket with 4 slices of bread and water. After 30 minutes, the waiter came out with one order of rice and beans and two meals and one batido. I said jokingly that the waiter obviously had no kids if he brought only one batido for 2 kids. He didn't get it! So one child had a meal and a batido. One adult had a meal and another adult had rice and beans and no meal. After another 30 minutes, 3 more meals came out. One woman, our friend from out of state, had nothing to eat and no batido for the other child. Finally the batido and the last meal came out and it was the wrong meal. Chicken Mofongo instead of Lemon Chicken. Give me a break! The waiter looked shell shocked. Off he went. Another 15 minutes went by, our friend walked to the front to cancel her order but they said it was already started. She began picking at her husband and her children's meals. We finished our meals and the lemon chicken came out. Yes, the food tasted good but the service is UNACCEPTABLE. There was not a language problem as I am a native Spanish speaker. first off.. the food is not great. although the staff is friendly enough once they have your money they could care less about you as a customer. apparently they feel they make enough money, they don't have to cater to one customer. ordered a $50 delivery, they got the order wrong. when I called to complain they told me they would rectify the order as soon as possible. after a 40 min wait I called back and was told; they decided not to rectify it because they were busy and the guy took the order wrong and didn't charge me accordingly. yet nobody called me to tell me so, as my food was still untouched because I was under the impression they were returning. needless to say the food was never eaten as it was cold and dry. I will personally never eat from this place again. and would suggest if you want Spanish food you give your money to a place that values you as a customer and has better food. Had such a bad experience with their delivery. They are usually pretty slow but tonight I ordered food and was quoted 20 minutes. 45 minutes later there was still no delivery I called and was told I have to understand because it's raining outside. (Wait but I drove in the rain earlier it did not delay me, and it was only lightly misting when I called). Anyway, I was told another 15 minutes. I called after 20 minutes to cancel my order and get a refund (I used my credit card and pre paid) only to get hung up on twice. They did tell me it was going to be another 8 minutes before hanging up on me. Then another attempt to call and they arrived. This time it turns out the owner's daughter was there and said they tried calling me twice and I did not pick up. So I told her to call me right there and gave her my number. She then said they had my wrong number. When I questioned her how this could be when they used my phone number to bring up my account she said she didn't know. Riiiight. Well your parents certainly lost my business going forward because you're a bad liar. Not to mention I always tell my friends to eat there now I will warn them against your restaurant. I am giving El Malecon 1 star because you can't give out 0 stars. Everyone who had given this restaurant 1 star is absolutely right. I called for a delivery order that ended up costing $35. The girl on the phone kept telling me to hold on while i was ordering. One hour after placing my order, it still had not arrived. I called the restaurant and the girl was very rude. She said the food was just leaving the restaurant and hung up on me while i was asking her why i hadn't received my food. This really got on my nerves so i called back and this time asked to talk to the manager to demand a refund. The owner came on the phone and told me that they were just packing the food, more than one hour after i had ordered. I told her that if the food got to my house cold i was going to return it. When the delivery guy arrived i told him to wait at the door while i checked the food to see if it was cold. He took off before i could check. The food turned out to be cold and the chicken pieces were cut so small and burnt to a crisp that i could barely get any meat off of the bones.
