Terrible customer service! We order from here pretty regularly. Such that we eared a $10 discount. This restaurant, however, treats customers who have earned a discount for being repeat customers like garbage. I ordered cuatro golpes & 2 other items & my cuatro golpes was light! Instead of 2 of everything like usual, they sent only 1, (1 egg, 1 piece of salami, 1 longaniza, 1 cheese). When I called to complain the attitude I got was, "The app offers that discount & so that's how the order comes." There is no indication ANYWHERE that if you earned a discount for being a regular customer, & you use that discount, that you'll get a subpar order. Did I mention that the one fried egg I got was over fried? I spoke to the manager who offered no apology & nothing other than to blame it on the app. She didn't even care if I wrote a bad review. Food was mediocre at best. Their desserts are disgusting. The service was atrocious. On a 90 degree day they had the a/c shut off. We were a large party sitting in a room that registered 84 degree temps. Despite asking them to turn the a/c on 4x - they never did. I can't even get to the food because the restaurant was disgustingly dirty. The restrooms are in similar condition to public restrooms frequented by homeless people. The soap pump didn't work but the top was left off so you can stick your hand in to grab soap. Completely unsanitary. Dirty floors with empty bags left in the open. Freezing cold - needed to wear a coat to sit. Understaffed - only one server for the entire place. If the visible is this dirty, what was the unseen parts of the kitchen like? I can't believe what I just dealt w at this establishment. I ordered 2 dinners, $45 including tip and only half arrived (1 of both dinners). That's not the worst part... when I contacted the restaurant last night at approx 925pm. Whom ever picked up initially explained that it must've been the driver that took out the food. Fine - that could've been a possibility. The issue was when I was trying to ask if there was anyway they could contact the delivery service to have them deliver the other half of our dinner, the employee became EXTREMELY upset and beyond rude. I literally had to stop the conversation and ask her why she was yelling. She had no idea what I was attempting to ask ans wouldn't even allow me to speak. I've been in hospitality 20 years and would never speak to someone who experienced an already bad service with my / Our business. One would've thought it was me that was the one that was in the wrong here! I hung up confused on what had just occurred. Malecon is a real hit or miss kind of restaurant, however I say "restaurant" very loosely because I don't recommend coming here for a sit-down meal. I've had Malecon cater a number of parties at my house and we've always been satisfied on that end. The prices are reasonable and their delivery staff was always prompt and set everything up the way we asked. Not only that, but our guests always rave over the food, particularly the stewed chicken, beans & rice. The big fault here is the restaurant itself. Coming here for a regular dinner is a totally different experience and brings up a few red flags in my mind. While it's a beautifully decorated restaurant, the prices compared to the size plate you end up with just don't match. The food tastes very different than what we get catered, and you can end up waiting 20-30 minutes for a plate of food that is already sitting in the front buffet area for takeout orders. The biggest turn-off for me during my last meal there was the random, errant shrimp vein in the middle of my plate of yellow rice. Neither I nor anyone else at my table ordered shrimp or anything seafood-related, so how did that get there? It just didn't sit well with me. So maybe I won't come here again for dinner every night. Will I still call for a cater order? Maybe. But I do think there are better Spanish restaurants in the area that are a lot less expensive. read more
