They also offer live piano playing on certain nights. Our server, Jaynisha, did a lovely job taking care of us. Hubby had the bourbon pork ribeye and it was excellent! Definitely a 5/5. I had the salmon with lemon basil sauce and enjoyed that as well. The veggies and mushroom pilaf were also very good. Hubby was disappointed that his beer was warm, but our server did try to get him another choice to remedy that. Sadly, that one was warm as well, so that had to be a problem with whoever was in charge of the keg that night. The food did take quite a while to come out; however, Jaynisha offered us a free cheesecake to make up for that. I appreciated that she did that unprompted by us. As a bonus, the salted caramel cheesecake was really good. I really wanted a chocolate martini to end the meal and once again, Jaynisha came through for us! She was able to go off menu and create one that I would like and not only was it good, I felt taken care of. We will be happy to return on our next visit to Davenport!

Their bathrooms are located in the basement and the smell was even stronger there. The restaurant must have high turnover as our bartender and server both said this was their first week. Drinks are still tasty and very reasonably priced. However, menus could use an update as still look the same from 10 years ago. The piano player reminds me of Will Ferrell impersonating Robert Goulet on SNL. He seems to be a fixture here too. I will say kitchen is open so you can see the staff. They were communicating well to get food out in a timely manner. Still a decent spot, but it could use some upgrades.

However, I had promised my husband a nice steak dinner, so we decided to stay. The steak choices were an 8-ounce filet mignon or a 10-ounce sirloin cap served sliced sushi-style. We ordered the $52 sirloin cap, and it was incredibly chewy. Thankfully, it was already sliced, or we might not have been able to cut through it. I told our waitress how tough it was. She apologized, but did nothing to correct the situation--there was no offer to replace the steak or make things right. I ordered the yellowfin tuna appetizer because I used to love Maxwell's previous tuna dish so much that I would order it as my entrée. Unfortunately, this version was disappointing. The tuna was okay but had very little flavor, and the cashew chimichurri sauce was mediocre at best. The Brussels sprouts were overcooked, and the sauce seemed like it was trying too hard without adding much to the dish. Dessert was crème brûlée, but it tasted like plain vanilla custard with very little flavor, topped with overly caramelized sugar and berries. I truly wish I had trusted my instincts and walked out. For what we paid, the meal was nowhere near the quality we expected. Honestly, the two-for-$25 meal at Applebee's would have cost a quarter of the price and probably would have been far more enjoyable. We will not be returning.

David expertly guided each of us through our drink choices, and encouraged us to try the charcuterie board. The mushroom "pâté" was incredible! I was craving a hibiscus lemonade which isn't exactly on the menu, and David made me a custom cocktail taking into consideration my favorite flavors. My drink was a perfect blend of tart & sweet. I actually went back to this establishment a few times because I wanted to give Stout's Irish Pub the benefit of the doubt. I thought maybe the first experience was just an off day for the waitresses. Unfortunately, after going back, I realized it wasn't a one-time thing. Each time, I've found the service to be rude, dismissive, and generally unwelcoming. There seems to be a select group of staff who are very close with certain customers and will spend their time talking with and befriending them, while other customers are seemingly ignored. I've also noticed staff spending a lot of time on their phones or sitting at the bar instead of checking on customers. The overall attitude from some of the staff gives off major "mean girl" energy. It's especially noticeable because there was a newer staff member during my most recent visit who was genuinely kind, attentive, and good at her job. I really enjoyed interacting with her, and she honestly stood out from the rest in the best way. The food is just okay and, in my opinion, lacks flavor. If you order it to go, expect it to be pretty soggy by the time you get home. I gave this place multiple chances because I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately the repeated poor service and mediocre food have completely turned me off. I won't be returning.
