Initially, I dropped off the shoe and was told I would get a call with an estimate. I dropped them off on a Saturday and had heard nothing by the following Sunday so I reached out via Facebook messenger and left my number. I was called back by Farrell, the owner, and given a quote, a time estimate and an option to pay via PayPal (they don't do credit cards). Once that was all squared away, Clarke's went to work on my shoe. When it was finished Farrell called me to let me know I could pick it up and explained a little about what he did to the shoe. While Bel Air is a bit of a drive for me, the customer service and quality of the work that Clarke's provided means I will be returning in the future.

Again, I have been coming here for years and I have been able to save tons of shoes from the shoe graveyard. This particular trip came about because of a pair of boots that I purchased on final sale. I couldn't get my foot inside of the boot so I brought it here to get a full zipper placed so I could were these boots for any boots on the ground events. Soooo, after a few days my boots were ready for pick up and I was able to wear my boots as promised. Happy customer 10/10~ will definitely be back to salvage any of your shoe needs. The stitching color a spacing is visible so if it was a bad job you'd see it. I cannot see any difference in the old stitching and the new. She matched the color and the stitch length perfectly. New belts would have cost me around $80-100 apiece but she did both for a very reasonable price. I could also see other orders of heavy Chippewa hiking boots and similar items waiting to be picked up. They looked great and care was taken to renew the leather. You cannot find a better place anywhere.

For over 50 years I have had to wear a 3/4" lift on one of my shoe due to polio. So I am well familiar of the price range it costs to put this size of lift on my shoe. When they quoted me the price, I wanted to walk out on them but decided against it because I was already there and I am new to Baltimore. They knew how much other shoe repair charged and their argument for adding an additional $50 to the $100 that other places charge was their quality of work was better. No, their quality of work was not better and there is nothing special that they did that justify the 50% mark up. It was equal to other places I have gone to across the US. Their service wasn't better either as I have had quicker and just as good quality of work as they did. Dan Brothers are a rip off! They should provide fair pricing.
