Fixture falling out of the wall
    Whitney D.

This hotel has so much potential, they don't upkeep it at all though. Broken curtains, electric lit mirror was falling out of the wall, broken wall plates, stained sheets, etc. is it worth the price per night? Yes I'd say so, but not a penny more. The only reason for two stars are the employees are friendly and helpful.

What a Boo-tiful Inn!! Malaga Inn was rated the 6th Best Haunted Hotel in the U.S. According to their website, the Malaga Inn was built in 1862 as twin townhomes by two brothers-in-law. The townhomes were eventually sold outside of the family and changed owners many times before being purchased by the current family in the 1960s. Room 007 is supposedly the haunted room. The location is on a quiet street near a park surrounded by gorgeous old Oak Trees. In the middle between the two original homes is a pretty courtyard with wrought iron seating, and a fountain. Our room was large and painted a nice calming grey blue. There were nice floor to ceiling windows, and I enjoyed that the window view was of the courtyard. The bathroom was also a nice size.

We were so lucky to get a room during the first full weekend of Mardi Gras. I found this hotel to be a perfect location and absolutely charming. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and kind. I seriously can't wait to come back here again next year. The rooms that face the courtyard (as expected) are a little loud, but I still slept really well. I love the fragrance of the shampoo and conditioner. Next year I might look for one of the larger rooms, but this actually was perfect and we were fortunate it was available, period!

An older hotel that's been kept up pretty well. You have the usual things with older places - so you're not going to get perfection - but it's lovely and nicely furnished. And quiet. There is lot parking, an ice machine, some seating in the lobby, and the staff was pleasant. TVs in both the sitting area and bedroom. We arrived later in the evening, and the desk person showed us a shortcut to our room that saved us a bit of walking. We only stayed overnight, and it was raining a bunch, so we didn't explore the grounds. It's within walking distance to some bars and eateries, but no market nearby - and the liquor store carries some stuff (but at highway robbery pricing) so pick up sodas/snacks and bring them in with you.

This is an older home style hotel with authentic old furniture, high ceilings , porches with rockers, and charming courtyard. Staff is exceptional especially Arnetta at the front desk. What a bubbly ball of fire. She was so helpful with tips and so friendly. Made you feel at home. If you are looking for old style charm, this hotel is for you. Great rates and comfy with southern charm.and easily walking distance in town of Mobile AL

This boutique hotel is definitely one of a kind especially in the state of AL. So much history. The bed was extremely comfortable. It is very very quiet so if you like a little white noise when you sleep make sure you plan to bring that. It's very clean and the front desk staff were accommodating. Steps away from the Mobile Civic Center so a great place to stay if you are seeing a concert or other event. We were there for Skillet. I'd definitely stay here again. Super close to everything and a unique place to stay. Parking is free.

This hotel has the best staff!!!! Love Tracy. I came for Saturday night. I ended staying until Wed. Love the charm of the historic rooms. My bed was super comfy. Super clean. I would totally live in this hotel. Especially #218.

This hotel, along with Mobile itself, was a wonderful hidden gem! The room rate was reasonable, the staff were so welcoming, and the location just exuded peace and tranquility! It is within walking distance of fun bars and restaurants and I will only stay here if I ever get back to Mobile!!

Very cool history to the building. I however did not see any paranormal activities during our stay. The rooms aren't Updated like newer hotels, o fridges or microwaves in the rooms. The did stop having breakfast during CoVid and it hasn't started back up. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. Staff were very friendly and got us extra towels etc. Courtyard fountain was so peaceful. Walking distance to Dauphine street. Lots of parks in the area . would definitely recommend this hotel

Charming, beautiful, historic all used to describe this gem in Mobile. Very reasonably priced and clean also describes the Malaga Inn. The staff were friendly and check-in was quick and efficient. Parking is convenient and bars and restaurants are just blocks, an easy and safe walk from the inn. The courtyard has all the southern charm one could ask for plus beautiful flowers, gas lights, ect... I highly recommend Malaga as a place to stay. The issues I had are cosmetic, like the thermostat is for frustrated travelers like myself, however, it had no bearing on the temp of the room. Our room was cold, needed a second blanket cold. I like a headboard on a bed, ours did not have one, just the bed against the wall with pillows piled high. There was only one chair in the large spacious room. We had to fight for it to put on our shoes. The bed was too high, lovely and comfortable but not comfortable for sitting. On a more personal note the night clerk was fond of pine air freshener, it took my breath away when we walked through the lobby to go to dinner. Truly, I could not breath. It makes me wonder what smells they are trying to hide. It was perfectly fine at check-in. Despite its minor faults, Malaga Inn is a lovely restful place to stay. Full of charm and beauty, it represents all of the best of the old south.

If you're a perfectionist (oh no! A spot of mildew in the bathroom; a drop of wall paint on the molding), don't stay here! If you want all the modern conveniences (oh, no! No microwave or mini fridge; no ice machine on every floor), don't stay here! But, if you want to experience not only a part of the city's history, but a part of our country's history, then this is the place to stay! Not only is this my first stay in a B&B, it's my first stay in an Inn that has such prestige. Built in 1862, the Inn was originally twin homes with a shared carriage-house, built by two brothers. Nearly 100 years past before the homes underwent their first renovation. And, there hasn't been a whole lot of renovation since then either. But, that is what gives a place such a charming appeal. The staff is friendly and helpful. Yet , they respect your privacy. The 39-room (with a few suites) Inn is very peaceful, and the room darkening curtains do their job. Though even without them, I think, it wouldn't be that bad. In checking in, there wasn't anyone to help with the luggage. And, I had to do a Harry Potter move from The Sorcerer's Stone, and start running to get up the ramp for going into the lobby. But, when I got into the courtyard, a staff member saw saw me, and came over to help. After unloading the luggage, the guy refused a tip. However, when I was checking out, a staff member saw me pushing the empty luggage cart, and came over to help. He loaded up the luggage, got it down to the parking lot where my car was, and help me get most of it in for the car. He told me it wasn't necessary. But I force the issue this time. When I opened the door, and stepped into my room, and other than it being a nippy 65 degrees, it felt as if I went back in time 100 years (until I saw the flat screen T.V. :-D ). Though, it would have been cool if skeleton keys and crystal door knobs were still in use. But, the chrome fixtures are a bit out of place here. They still use real glass cups, and ceramic mugs! And at breakfast, they use glass plates and real flatware! The Wi-Fi works well. And even though I had to sign in with a password, I did get an alert message saying that it was unsecured. The bar is very quaint, and almost cozy. Oh the beds. Oh the beds! It was like sleeping on a cloud. Now, some reviews have complained about the pillows. But, I didn't mind them. However, as someone who used to do a lot of traveling years ago, I learned it was always best to bring a pillow from home. And the towels! Oh the towels. While I've used towels that have been one step above sandpaper, these towels were so soft. Even softer than what I use at home. The breakfast room is open and airy. And you have your choice of either eating inside, or out in the courtyard. Of course, one cannot come to the Deep South, and not try the biscuits and sausage gravy. Yummy! My only complaints? I'm here for one night only, and truly didn't have a chance to experience everything that the Inn, and the city of Mobile, has offer. And, even though the chair is upholstered and cushioned, you can feel the chair frame when you sit in it.

I was willing to wait a little longer for them. However it was 8:30am and I still had not received fresh towels. I decided to email management. I did not have the manager's email, so I went to the front desk to ask. I asked the front desk receptionist Mark if Hiral Patel was the manager, because I saw the name tag on the wall. His response was very hostile and aggressive towards me. His response to my question caused me to feel that he would physically harm me. That is when I decided to record him. The only thing that I asked him was if Hiral Patel was the manager. Mark responded and said "That is the only person that you need to talk to tomorrow." He had no manners or respect for me. I then told him that I did not receive clean towels by 8:00am ; because that is when the audit employee at the front desk told me they would come. He continued to raise his voice at me and he also called Alabama Protection Agency to escort me from the property. The Protection officer was holding his gun holster, as I was in the hotel room preparing to leave, and also in the elevator. I thought that he may have wanted to shoot me. I was non-confrontational the entire time of this situation ( I have recording of every interaction I have made with employees and staff).

The room had USB and electrical outlets strategically placed so there were ample areas to plug in my devices. The wifi was easy to connect to and had a very strong signal, perfect for connecting through a VPN or Firewall while still being able to connect to my streaming services. The room itself was very spacious, well decorated and almost a full-sized kitchen. My bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep every night I was there. The property has many areas where guests can socialize and connect on the first floor if they don't want to just stay in their rooms. The lobby was bright with an array of tables and chairs to relax and connect to your devices. The Fitness center was above average and had a very good assortment of fitness equipment including free weights, exercise balls and multiple cardio machines. You can get a good workout in the gym. The food served at breakfast had a good assortment of hot and cold items, healthy choices and of course plenty of pastries, baked goods and very good coffee. This was the perfect location for being close to customers, and restaurants and for travelling in the area and into Mobile. I would put this hotel high on my list for future visits to the Mobile area. The only critique I have is that the rooms are very large and the TVs in the main area and the bedrooms are very small.

First up, the good: the room was clean, our room had a nice view, and the location was great; it's within walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars and it's easy to get on and off the highway. The service at check in and check out was also very good. The so so: The beds were hard, but not altogether uncomfortable. The shower pressure was also just okay and it would have been a lot nicer if the pressure was better, but it's not a deal breaker for a trip. Now the bad: the service at breakfast and at the hotel bar was downright atrocious and remarkably slow for a fairly quiet weekend. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them at the bar and it took almost 45 minutes to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, which is unacceptable. The service at the wedding reception was also very poor and disorganized as if the staff weren't used to serving people in large groups. The food at the wedding reception was very hit or miss as some people really enjoyed their food while others (including myself) had dry and hard salmon, which was unpalatable. This is unfortunately not a place that we'd frequent again and we'd look elsewhere if staying in downtown Mobile again.
