A-List Beauty Team - Pins on pins on pins

I would give A-List beauty no stars if I could. I hired them for hair and makeup for my wedding…read more The trial could not have gone worse. It. Was. A. Joke. A lot of these places have you pay a significant amount of money to do a trial (like $500) because it creates a psychological motivation to continue to do business with them (the sunk cost fallacy). Ladies do not be victim to this- even if you paid $500 and the trial goes poorly, do not give them more money! I paid the non refundable deposit to Ariel Lewis, and gladly paid another company $1,500 just to not look (and more importantly FEEL) like I did after my trial with A-List. The other company was professional, kind, used actual beauty products (see below), let me watch what they were doing, and were friendly. Find a company that works with you for your big day. Not works you for the paycheck. Hopefully this will save you the $500 trial with A-List: Let's start with hair. The biggest red flag was that she wouldn't let me watch while she was doing my hair so that I could be "surprised" - I was surprised all right. She admitted to me she had not looked at the inspo pics they asked me to send in, and asked to see them. She looked at the first one and said "K I got it." She didn't have it, because what was created was a departure from my looks. It wasn't a terrible style if it had been done well. I mentioned concern about the longevity of the look day of, and she said confidently it would last even though I could feel the pins slipping. I said repeatedly my hair texture is fine and doesn't hold curl. She said "Not the way I curl" and then put wax in it to "help." Everyone with fine hair knows wax weighs it down. It did not last. Not even through 90 min minutes of sitting still and getting makeup done (much less a whole wedding...). My trial was done at 11:30am and by 1:30pm my hair had fallen out of the bun into the two sad looped pony tails she had used to create the look, and was in straight tendrils around my face. Not a curl in sight. Even the initial finished looked was frizzy and you could obviously see pins. The best part was that the A-List makeup trial was after hair and she came in and asked "what time my hair trial was?" hahah. "Oh you couldn't tell it just happened? Your teammate just gave me an updo, obviously!" Lol Next was makeup. Ladies. They used E.L.F products. Correct- the products you buy for your nieces and occasionally find at the dollar store. I get it, this isn't the main event, it's just the trial so maybe they use different products day of? If so, that negates the purpose of the trial... I want to have my shades matched and confirmed which is part of the trial one would think. I paid for airbrush makeup- she did zero prep the skin. She pulled the machine out and started spraying- didn't even pin my face framing hair pieces back so there was a distinct line not blended around my face where my hair had been. The airbrush went on cakey and flakey and actually aged me about 10 years. It's not for every skin type so that's part of it, but at least try and prep the skin. I sent Hailey Bieber natural dewey inspo and she did old church lady rosy pink cheeks I am not kidding. Bright. Pink. And round. I looked like a toy soldier, even after I asked her to keep blending. The whole thing was a joke. It also didn't last despite paying for airbrush- which I was grateful for because I would not have gone out looking like that. When I reached out to Ariel Lewis to tell them I would not be using them for my wedding and talk about how disappointed I was, I was intercepted by an admin. Interestingly, I didn't ask for a refund but the very first thing the admin said when I said I wouldn't be moving forward was that I wouldn't get a refund. This exchange told me a lot about how they do business and their priorities. I asked to speak to Ariel to provide feedback. I never heard from her. Guess it's on me to keep reaching out? I was then told I could do the trial again with the same artists. Nah I'm good... If it were my business with my name on it- I would be embarrassed by this. Pics below of hair. I didn't want my face out there on the internet so I didn't post makeup. So- ladies, save yourself the money with A-List. Unless you want a good laugh- My Maid of Honor was there and we still get out the "after" pictures so we can have a good chuckle over wine. I hope this saves another bride the stress and money I wasted on the A-List.

Very POOR Customer Service. Extremely POOR communication. Why does a company refuse to list itself…read moreon Google? So they can avoid all the negative reviews. So it's not a surprise that A-List has no Google listing and minimal reviews available... do the math. It doesn't add up to a reliable and professionally behaving company.

Her styling was flawless, creative, and exactly what I needed to feel confident in front of the camera. I'm usually very hesitant to let anyone trim my hair--but Caryn earned my trust, and I'm so glad she did. The trim was perfect. She's not only incredibly skilled, but also has a warm, caring personality that makes you feel instantly comfortable. Caryn listens, understands your vision, and brings it to life with precision and artistry. She gave my hair exactly what it needed, and I already know--I'm not going anywhere else. She's officially my new stylist! If you're in Baltimore and looking for someone who truly knows hair and cares deeply about her clients, Caryn at Drylands Salon is the one. Highly, highly recommend!

I arrived to my appointment on time. I didn't get a text until about five minutes later that it was time for me to come in, so I patiently waited. I walked in to find that my hairstylist was doing her own make up in the mirror of the salon. She didn't acknowledge me at all as I walked by. I waited in silence for another five minutes while she finished her make up routine. She trimmed the bottom of my ends for about 10 minutes, tried to sell me a hair product, then told the receptionist I should be charged for a cut, not a shampoo/style/cut. I wound up being charged for everything. I paid over $100 for a shampoo/style/cut even when I called the receptionist back and explained the situation. I am happy to pay full price for a haircut that lasts longer than 10 minutes and when the salon is transparent about pricing, but this interaction made me feel taken advantage of. The person who cut my hair may have been having an off day because she just seemed like she didn't want to be there and I felt like I was intruding on her personal time, while also paying her over $100. Hair is very personal for me and I felt so sad after this appointment. Stay away.

I booked an appointment online for a hydrodermabrasion treatment. Roxie serviced me and she is very knowledgeable and very meticulous. This treatment was a bit intense since I have sensitive skin and I haven't had a facial in a long time. Before we started my services, Roxie analyzed my skin. She noticed a had clogged/ congested pores and acne scarring. She recommended products that will help with my scarring and also additional treatments to improve my skin. The products are a big pricey however, I took her recommendations seriously since she was able to closely analyze my skin. I will be booking future treatments. There is plenty of available street parking.

My first time, Candis did an excellent job with my lash extensions! It took a bit over the recommended time (closer to 2.5 hours instead of 1.5) and my eyes were a bit irritated the next day, but nothing a few drops of Visine couldn't fix. I loved the final product and they lasted close to 3.5 weeks! I was also happy that she answered all of my questions and even gave me 4 lash brushes because I told her I was traveling and she didn't want me to lose them. The second time, I had Roxie do my lashes. I was a bit nervous to have someone different doing them, but my girl SLAYED it! It took less than an hour and a half, my eyes weren't irritated at all, and they look BOMB. I cannot tell you how many compliments I've gotten on my lashes. Also, the studio is extremely clean, both Candis and Roxie play great music while they work, and they are so nice and easy to talk to. One recommendation, save their phone numbers because each time I've come to the studio the door has been locked. Just give a quick call and they'll come let you in! For the price and quality, these ladies cannot be beat.
