It was clear the stylist didn't want to do it and we settled on a dark brown to cover the gray. I'm glad we didn't do a more complex color because she couldn't get this simple color down. My hair still had sections of gray I could've done a better job. Then the blowout no heat protectant was used and my hair was flat ironed and then curled with this skinny iron giving me these super tight church curls then the only product used was a hairspray that made my hair crunchy. My newly trimmed ends felt dry and brittle. I washed my hair at home the same day only to find my hair was uneven from the trim. I was charged $85 she didn't charge me for the color. A few days later I noticed my account was charged twice.

Not only is Jacinta a phenomenal stylist, she does her job with care for clients. I live in DC and I drive the distance to the salon because my hair is that important to me and Franchon Parlour/Jacinta, is just that good. My hair is natural and Jacinta does a great job of keeping my hair healthy and growing. Whether I get a weave with color or a press and curl, I'm never disappointed. Jacinta's natural ability to connect with her clients while you're in her chair is another reason why I continue to go back. Tarah is the other stylist in the salon and though she has never done my hair, she is always warm, professional and pleasant. I've watched Tarah style some of her clients and like Jacinta, attention to detail of the hair is a given. Long review short, if you're looking for a stylist that provides you consistent quality and and healthy hairstyles, this is where it's at. Check out Franchon Parlour!

She is gifted beyond…read moremeasure, deeply talented and passionate about hair and using the highest quality green and organic products. I'm a tough customer to please and I first saw Serena at a different salon about 8 months ago for a gentle hombré look. I had tiny blue highlights put in my hair within the last 2 years but hadn't had anything drastic in easily 5 years so I was initially nervous about coloring a big chunk of my hair but she made me feel at ease with her kind, calm and warm demeanor. She did an amazing job and I was hooked. In fact I loved the color so much, I went back later that week and committed to a full hombré. It was gorgeous. She was so patient too, I remember I showed up super late and she squeezed me in anyway. Since then, Serena has started her own beautiful brand with her own space and I couldn't be more happy or excited to be her loyal client. Her new location is warm and tranquil. She has excellent taste in music and keeps her groovy tunes flowing. Her banter is insightful, kind and wise. The salon smells lovely, not even a hint of chemical smell. In the shampoo room, there are incense sticks burning and relaxing spa music playing. Not to mention her assistant Bree gives a great shampoo. Bree is also a licensed massage therapist, she's warm and professional. I was one of Serena's first clients in her location. Once I was ready to change up my hombré look, I went for an all over lighter color and some lighter highlights mixed in. I showed her pictures and she asked me lots of questions. She pulled out her hair color samples and carefully matched my description. Despite the fact that Serena put bleach in my hair, my scalp never burned and I never smelled anything gross. She mixed Oleoplex in so my hair wouldn't get very damaged and the color turned out beautiful. Every product she uses is of the highest quality and smells incredible. Even though they are pricey, they are well worth the splurge. I recently returned a few weeks ago to get some more highlights and didn't realize I had originally only scheduled a hair cut. Serena being the ever accommodating gem that she is, gave me a great dry cut and did the highlights anyway, she didn't seem fazed at all when I said I wanted highlights. She explained that i would have to leave with wet hair so that she would have time for everything and I was more than ok with that. In the end, I actually was able to get under the dryer for a bit anyway and the highlights looked great once I got home and dried my hair completely! I appreciate so much that she always does whatever she can to make sure her customer is happy, like sincerely, she goes above and beyond. I restocked on some curl cream and bought some new conditioner on that visit as well. The next day I noticed my roots were showing a bit, so I called her to see if she could touch them up. She was more than happy to fit me in the next day and on the day of the appointment explained that she had simply layered color over my existing highlights so the root growth was more obvious since the color was lighter. I appreciated the explanation and again she just goes about explaining things so clearly and kindly. She even threw in a few more complimentary highlights to make sure everything was blended. When I say Serena is talented I mean it. She is deeply committed to providing the best and highest quality service and ensuring customers are 100% happy. To top it all off, my hair has literally never been or looked healthier. My friends have commented on how luxurious and healthy my hair looks and when I look in the mirror I see so much less damage, split ends and frizz. How?! How does she make hair that has been bleached and dyed look healthier?! (Obviously, she's a genius). For context, I have big, semi course, thick as a horse's mane wavy hair. I'm of Mexican descent and my hair is NOT EASY. It's not ugly hair by any means...but it's tricky and I've had some awful stuff done to it by previous stylists who didn't understand how to work with my texture. I'm impressed at how knowledgeable she was about working with textured hair like mine. She understand the needs of my hair type down to how to color, cut, style and maintain it. The products Serena recommends are wonderful. I'm especially crazy about the curling cream. I've repurchased it twice now and won't use anything else in my hair. It tames my frizz, smells amazing and gives me natural looking shiny waves. She strictly adheres to organic, environmentally friendly products. I play in a band and it's important to me to keep up appearances. My hair is an extension of my personality, my essence...my whole being! I take hair care seriously since my hair has truly become part of my identity. You will find your lifetime stylist in Serena. If she ever moves I will follow her. She is celebrity stylist caliber, hand over my heart.

She's got great style and an eye for her art. She also did my hair for my wedding and I got more compliments on it that I lost count. I took a plunge to get bangs - haven't had them since I was 9! - because I wanted a change, but also that I trusted Serena to do it well. And she did! They look great and she offers free touchups which is more than appreciated. So excited for her to have her own place! Its easy to get to - right off the main street in Catonsville - and the atmosphere in the salon is great. Calming with candles and music that puts you in a great mood. Its super clean and uberposh.

I would give A-List beauty no stars if I could. I hired them for hair and makeup for my wedding…read more The trial could not have gone worse. It. Was. A. Joke. A lot of these places have you pay a significant amount of money to do a trial (like $500) because it creates a psychological motivation to continue to do business with them (the sunk cost fallacy). Ladies do not be victim to this- even if you paid $500 and the trial goes poorly, do not give them more money! I paid the non refundable deposit to Ariel Lewis, and gladly paid another company $1,500 just to not look (and more importantly FEEL) like I did after my trial with A-List. The other company was professional, kind, used actual beauty products (see below), let me watch what they were doing, and were friendly. Find a company that works with you for your big day. Not works you for the paycheck. Hopefully this will save you the $500 trial with A-List: Let's start with hair. The biggest red flag was that she wouldn't let me watch while she was doing my hair so that I could be "surprised" - I was surprised all right. She admitted to me she had not looked at the inspo pics they asked me to send in, and asked to see them. She looked at the first one and said "K I got it." She didn't have it, because what was created was a departure from my looks. It wasn't a terrible style if it had been done well. I mentioned concern about the longevity of the look day of, and she said confidently it would last even though I could feel the pins slipping. I said repeatedly my hair texture is fine and doesn't hold curl. She said "Not the way I curl" and then put wax in it to "help." Everyone with fine hair knows wax weighs it down. It did not last. Not even through 90 min minutes of sitting still and getting makeup done (much less a whole wedding...). My trial was done at 11:30am and by 1:30pm my hair had fallen out of the bun into the two sad looped pony tails she had used to create the look, and was in straight tendrils around my face. Not a curl in sight. Even the initial finished looked was frizzy and you could obviously see pins. The best part was that the A-List makeup trial was after hair and she came in and asked "what time my hair trial was?" hahah. "Oh you couldn't tell it just happened? Your teammate just gave me an updo, obviously!" Lol Next was makeup. Ladies. They used E.L.F products. Correct- the products you buy for your nieces and occasionally find at the dollar store. I get it, this isn't the main event, it's just the trial so maybe they use different products day of? If so, that negates the purpose of the trial... I want to have my shades matched and confirmed which is part of the trial one would think. I paid for airbrush makeup- she did zero prep the skin. She pulled the machine out and started spraying- didn't even pin my face framing hair pieces back so there was a distinct line not blended around my face where my hair had been. The airbrush went on cakey and flakey and actually aged me about 10 years. It's not for every skin type so that's part of it, but at least try and prep the skin. I sent Hailey Bieber natural dewey inspo and she did old church lady rosy pink cheeks I am not kidding. Bright. Pink. And round. I looked like a toy soldier, even after I asked her to keep blending. The whole thing was a joke. It also didn't last despite paying for airbrush- which I was grateful for because I would not have gone out looking like that. When I reached out to Ariel Lewis to tell them I would not be using them for my wedding and talk about how disappointed I was, I was intercepted by an admin. Interestingly, I didn't ask for a refund but the very first thing the admin said when I said I wouldn't be moving forward was that I wouldn't get a refund. This exchange told me a lot about how they do business and their priorities. I asked to speak to Ariel to provide feedback. I never heard from her. Guess it's on me to keep reaching out? I was then told I could do the trial again with the same artists. Nah I'm good... If it were my business with my name on it- I would be embarrassed by this. Pics below of hair. I didn't want my face out there on the internet so I didn't post makeup. So- ladies, save yourself the money with A-List. Unless you want a good laugh- My Maid of Honor was there and we still get out the "after" pictures so we can have a good chuckle over wine. I hope this saves another bride the stress and money I wasted on the A-List.

Very POOR Customer Service. Extremely POOR communication. Why does a company refuse to list itself…read moreon Google? So they can avoid all the negative reviews. So it's not a surprise that A-List has no Google listing and minimal reviews available... do the math. It doesn't add up to a reliable and professionally behaving company.
