This review is long overdue. Coco is truly amazing with what she does and her communication was on point. I scheduled a trial with her for my hair and makeup for my wedding. I booked her for my wedding date immediately after the trial, she gave me exactly what I wanted. She was punctual on my wedding day and had great vibes. She is a wonderful person and is great at her job. I highly recommend her. read more

Coco did my hair and makeup for my 12.7.14 wedding. She did a beautiful job! I was so please with how everything came out and how professional she was. She listened to all of my requests and made sure my bridesmaids and I were happy with what she was doing. I received so many compliments on my hair. The one that summed it up for me was, "your hair and makeup is amazing, but you still look like you." That's pretty much exactly what I was going for. I would recommend Coco to anyone looking for prompt and quality services for their special event! read more

Coco Tsang is the best. Made me feel like THE prettiest woman in the world on my wedding day. She knows exactly what to do, and as long as you do what she says your makeup and hair will last forever and you will look absolutely gorgeous and stunning. Must book her early! She is more responsive via email than text. I heard about her via yelp as well as from my sister who got married 3 years earlier (she couldn't book Coco in time as she was fully booked 6mo before her wedding date). Coco first did a two style makeup trial on me that I picked between (in both versions she made my asian eye monolids into double eyelids which made my eyes look MUCH bigger). On the wedding day, she arrived on time, brought extra lights for makeup, had two helpers, and together they finished 3 makeup-and-hair and 2 hair-only on time within 2hrs. All the girls looked stunning the entire day. Mind you, I'm never on time to anything so the fact that Coco made me on time during my wedding day was PHENOMENAL! read more

I had my trial done with Coco and I was not expecting how frizzy my hair looked after the trial. It did not look like bridal hair, I would have been devastated if this was the final look on my wedding day. I did not like the air brush makeup either, my skin looked dull and cakey. My eyes did not pop and the colors used on my lips were not what I was hoping for. I prefer my face without makeup than my face after the bridal trial. Unfortunately the trial was very expensive. read more

Coco did my wedding last weekend and my make up and hair were PREFECT! I first contacted Coco way over a year before my wedding since I wanted to get a make up artist who did hair and knew how to do make up on asians. Did my trial with her in November 2016 and my wedding was in June 2017. I would highly suggest anyone thinking of booking Coco to do it ASAP!!! Even during my November trial a couple of people had interest in my date and it was only 8 months away!!! On my wedding day Coco and one other make up artist arrived already before 6:30am and got right to work! Her team did 7 of my bridesmaids updos, coco did my make up and hair and my moms hair and make up. The other artist did my bridesmaids make up. They finished everyone by 10am ish. I was so happy with how it turned out. My make up looked flawless in photos and it last all the way until 3am when I took it off!!! That's 19 hours! I 100% trust Coco and would recommend her to anyone! read more

Coco is amazingly talented and super efficient! What might take someone else 2+ hours will take her only 1! I called her less than two weeks before my event and we were able to schedule an appointment right after a morning wedding where she was doing hair and makeup for 6+ women! My event was a smaller banquet for family members in NYC about a month after my actual wedding, so I didn't need the full bridal package. I got to Coco's around 11, having sent her pictures of the hair and makeup styles I preferred, and within one hour she was done with airbrush makeup and a lovely updo! She altered the hairstyle to match my dress better, and it totally made sense. Throughout the whole thing she was fun to chat with. I would highly recommend Coco not just for full weddings but any event where you need to look your best. read more

Coco and her team (3 people total) were great to work with for my wedding! Starting from the trial, Coco showed she's really good at what she does! Her and her team arrived promptly at 7:30AM the morning of the wedding to the estate we rented for the weekend in Long Island. We had 10 girls including myself do full hair and airbrush makeup and also flower girl hair. Not only did everyone look amazing, they work so quick! All of us were done within 4 hours and was on schedule with my itinerary. I highly recommend using Coco and her team! Her prices are also great for the quality of work you receive! My hair and makeup stayed all day and night and we had a very long day! A few of my friends have also used her for their wedding as well! read more

Coco specializes in wedding hair and makeup. I echo hundreds of other NYC brides when I say that Coco is the best. As an Asian American, I knew I wanted to work with someone familiar with monolid eye makeup and a natural look (not cakey, contoured, or light). I sent her inspiration photos including her own IG posts, and she exceeded expectations. She is also FAST, used to working with large bridal parties pre-COVID. Look no further- Coco will make you look and feel your best on your special day. read more

Coco is a true professional! Here's what I loved about her: 1). The make-up is so stunning - she's really an artist and knows how to bring out the best features in you. She doesn't just have a template make-up look but tries to adjust to your features and personality. I had so many compliments on my make up all day- I felt so special! 2). She's very very professional and efficient. I love how you can rely on her to move quickly and do things really well. This was important to my family and me because we had such a tight schedule on my wedding day, and Coco really helped us move quickly with all the kinks in our schedule. Coco and her team really are the best!! My makeup and hair were more beautiful than I could have thought up. I would absolutely recommend her and would choose her over and over again. read more

Coco is the best! She did hair and makeup for me and my wedding party just a few weeks ago. I initially got her name from a friend of the family and went for a trial. I was totally impressed with her person and her skills at the trial. She really analyzes your look and takes in what you want and gives you the best look for your special day. Her eye makeup was especially fantastic! She is an expert in Asian makeup, but also did a beautiful job with my non-asian bridesmaids. Her makeup left me looking like myself only better! She also had realistic advice for the day of the wedding. And the makeup lasted the entire night, no shine, no smudging, almost like when it was first done! Coco is also very professional. She and her assistant arrived on time, they were prepared and set up within 10-15 minutes, and everyone was done right on time. Her prices are also very reasonable for the area, and well worth the quality. I would definitely book her again for any special events, and maybe even a makeup class later in the year! I could not be happier with how my makeup and hair looked on my wedding day. Thanks, Coco! read more

If I could give half a star on Yelp, I would. Coco was highly recommended by my close friend who used her for her wedding. I thought her work was nice and decided to book her for my wedding too. I emailed her 15 months in advance before my wedding to let her know i would like to book her and inquire on how I can place a deposit to secure my date. After a couple of back & forth emails, she told me to reach out to her again in August to set up a trial session first as it was "too early" to book her (my wedding was in May the following year),and she would like me to have the trial first before the deposit. Although I already knew for sure I wanted to book her, I decided to listen to her instruction as I understand her side of getting a trial first. Long story short, I contact her again a month earlier than when she told me to, to schedule a trial and place a deposit only to have her tell me she was already booked for that date. Thinking she was mistaking me for someone else, I spoke to her on the phone to try to clear things up, but she told me a few days after I initially spoke to her, another bride-to-be put a deposit down for her on the same date I requested. I understand its business and if someone else puts a deposit down then it's all fair game. I get it, just email me and let me know and no harm done. Then I will just continue looking, no big deal. But the thing is she never called or emailed me to let me know she is already booked for that date.Keep in mind that the other bride booked her only a FEW DAYS after I spoke to her initially when she told me it was too early. So it's not like a month or two later that she would forget. But this was literally a few days after I spoke to her. Coco told me this herself. She didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience and made me feel like it was entirely my fault. Had I not reached out to her again, it would've been difficult to find a last minute makeup artist. Of course, there is always a silver lining in every bad situation as I ended up with an incredible makeup artist, Akiyo, who did an wonderful & amazing job on my wedding day. Yes, this review is not for the actual makeup services done by Coco, rather the review of how my situation was handled. This is not an overreaction of a bridezilla nor a petulant child whining, but merely just a warning for other future brides- to-be. I believe the actions of how my situation was handled by Coco reflect tremendously on what her business principals are. You have been warned. read more

Fellow yelper Wendy L recommended Coco to me after she had her trial with Coco. Just to let you know how good/popular Coco is, my wedding is in May 2014 and I emailed Coco asking her when would be a good time to schedule my trial. She told me she would be busy from April - Dec!!! I'm in accounting and have my own busy season but Coco's busy season sounds crazy! Since Dec would be a little too late to find someone else if I end up not liking her work, I decided to go for it and do my trial now. This way I can lock in my price and my stylist if it's something I like. And let me tell you, I didn't like the trial, I LOVED it! I've never had airbrush make up before but after my trial with Coco, I wish I could have that look everyday. It looked flawless! Similar to Wendy L, Coco gave me 2 diff smokey eyes with diff lashes to let me choose which effect I want more. Of course I went with the more dramatic look. I think it made my eyes 10X bigger and would look really nice in pics. I also wanted some adjustments to my hair after she was done and she happily did it for me. She is very accommodating and essentially wants you to be happy with the end product. Her prices are pretty affordable. I misread her email and only had enough money for the trial but she let me write her a check so I wouldn't have to run to the bank in the middle of my trial. She also knew I had to go straight to the airport after the trial and did her best to tone down the make up and hair. Overall, I am really happy with the results and cannot wait to see Coco again for my wedding! See uploaded pics to see the awesome before and after photos! read more

I needed a make up artist for my wedding and went to Yelp for help! I scheduled a trial with Coco- she came to my house and spent over 2 hours creating 2 different make up looks for me. I was very hesitant about having her use airbrush makeup because I am someone who doesn't use foundation on a daily basis. She assured me that this would be great for pictures--and she was right! My engagement photos came out amazing. Fast forward to my wedding day and she created the EXACT same look that I showed her a picture of. I could NOT have been happier that I went with Coco. She also did my bridesmaids' hairs and they all loved it! They showed Coco pictures and she delivered! It's also worth mentioning that the day of my wedding- it was an ABNORMAL 95+ degree day in NYC on the last day of May. I did NOT touch up my makeup once (just eyebrows and eyeliner). The airbrush makeup was amazing! It lasted 12+ hours through sweltering NYC heat! I got so many compliments and have already recommended her to numerous people! You will not be disappointed! Thank you Coco!!! read more

Makeup By Coco Tsang - Completed look. - Makeup Artists Near Me

Coco and her partner provided hair and makeup services for my wedding party of five plus myself and my mom. Coco arrived on the dot at 6:30am and finished around 9:30/10am. From the beginning when I met her at my trial, I knew she was speedy, efficient, and talented at her job. Both times, she came in with her roll-in suitcase, unpacked a million tools and pieces, quickly made me look awake and refreshed (even though I only had 3 hours of sleep), then packed up all her pieces as if she was never even there! (It's magic, I tell you.) I do think her prices are a little steep for makeup artists, but that's just my opinion (I don't spend much on makeup). Compared to other makeup artists who specialize in the Asian population, she charged about equal or slightly less in some cases. I suppose that's what happens with having a high demand for Asian makeup artists on the East Coast. Also, I went with the airbrush makeup while my friends and mom went with regular makeup. I would say we all looked equally natural and comfortable. She had makeup that matched many different shades of skin from my friends who are of South Asian to East Asian backgrounds. Coco makes you feel like everything will be alright (even when I told her I didn't put together an emergency makeup kit, woops!) and she's just fun to be around. Don't hesitate to contact her and make sure you book early because she gets booked fast! read more

Too impossible to get an appointment. Started communicating with her and accommodated my texts and emails. Very responsive and pro active to begin with. Even told her I am willing to hire her thru her excellent reviews for a bridesmaid makeup and updo, then she tells me she is closely booked to my date. Five months ahead of time, and a trial three months ahead-still booked?? Too impossible to believe. It's very disheartening and disappointing . The time is also in the morning. She just chooses who she can attend to. Too bad, this will drop the rating.:( no matter how great you are if customer service is a fail it brings out bad reviews! read more

Coco is such a talented hair and makeup artist! I don't wear any makeup normally, so I was so nervous about not looking like myself on my wedding day. Not the case at all - I ended up looking like a better, more radiant version of myself! I also didn't have any bridesmaids, so I'm grateful to Coco for keeping me calm during the hectic morning, giving me advice and reminding me to eat as she did my hair. Thank you for everything, Coco! read more

Coco and her assistant did a great job with the hair and makeup. My ladies had a wide range of complexions and hair textures (from fair skin + blond hair to dark skin with dark brown hair). All my ladies AND my very fair future mother-in-law (who usually hates people touching her face) loved their looks. She also did well with my hair, albeit rushed and not as thorough/enduring my bridesmaids'. Coco is very busy (rightfully so), so schedule a trial ASAP! Make sure to have her send you a contract, because a few days before the wedding, she sent me an invoice with wrong numbers/significantly higher total and it was stressful - since I had a contract, I was able to just ask her to take a look at that. Lastly, she TRAVELS to you at a very reasonable cost. Totally recommend her services! read more

Coco did my mom and I's make up on my wedding day and she was absolutely amazing! I usually don't wear make up but Coco did such an amazing job with the make up that it looked natural yet beautiful. It also stayed on very well. I received many compliments on how beautiful I looked. Coco also taught my mom how to put the veil on me and provided her tips on how to keep the veil stable and not fall off. I am just really glad to have hired Coco as my makeup and hair stylist for the most important day of our lives as Coco provided her own opinion as well as listened to what we wanted. read more

Coco is fabuluous. She makes everything pretty and awesome. She is very professional, very easy to work with and most importantly she transformed me to beauty on my wedding day and yet still look very natural. Well I think I will be echoing all the wonderful reviews on here by saying that Coco is amazing, as a makeup artist and as a person. Let's be honest, the art of makeup is very subjective, especially when you're dealing with stressed out brides to be. Some brides like a more natural look, others (like me) like a more glam look. Well the wonderful thing about Coco is that she can do just about anything. I have had a history of bad experiences with makeup artists just not knowing how to properly apply eye shadow to asian eyes. I have a lid, but no hood which most makeup artists try to ignore and just *create* a hood which then just looks like a splat of color sitting on my lid. I am so happy to have found a makeup artist who knows what she's doing!! My only advice to you would be to have some sort of idea of what you want - preferably through pictures so that Coco can recreate the look for you. I had a very specific look I wanted and Coco nailed it. As for the specifics of my trial, Coco did the airbrush makeup which felt absolutely amazing! I wanted a smokey eye look which she created two different "eye looks" on me - one with one set of lashes, and another with two sets of lashes which made my eyes POP. It was amazing and completely genius! She also taught me tons of makeup blending tricks, contouring tips as well as recommend the best hairstyle for my face shape. I have a round face and after the trial was over, I swear I looked like a different person! I completely recommend Coco x100 and can't wait until my October wedding :D read more

I found Coco online while researching for makeup/hair stylists for my wedding this past April. She also came highly recommended by a few good friends of mine. I'll be honest... I was too lazy to look for a separate makeup artist and hair stylist so I only searched for stylists who did both. I found 3 and scheduled my trials with them. Coco was definitely the winner! Her work was the only one that put a smile on my face (The other 2 trials - I couldn't wait to get home to wipe my face off!!). On the Wedding Day - she was on time (even came early) to get started on me and 5 bridesmaids and she finished exactly on time (as promised)... she even accommodated my last minute request to come back for a touchup later in the day and even brought some pins/accessories when I had a little mishap with my own hairpin the day of. She is just awesome.. and I would highly recommend. read more

Coco and her assistant were amazing!! She did my make up as well as my mother and mother-in-law. We all told her our individual concerns (ie., blemish coverage, not looking too old) and Coco listened and worked accordingly. We all loved how our makeup and hair turned out, and everything lasted all night!!! She is truly a professional and great at what she does! read more

After doing extensive research on good make up artists for my wedding last year. I decided to hire CoCo. She is not afraid to give her opinion if she thinks something does not look right. She's friendly and easy going. I wanted a more subtle and natural look as opposed to looking really light skinned with heavy make up and she did what I wanted. I did a trial make up & hair session with her and was very satisfied with the results. I've also added tattoo coverage service for my wedding. The results were very good. The best way to decide on a make up artist if to do a trial session. Make an appt with her and see for yourself. Also, her service rates were much more reasonable compared with the other make up artists! read more

All the praises about Coco are true!!! I am not sure where her fees stands in terms of market rate, as she was my first and only choice once I saw her work. But believe me, her service is worth every penny. She is a young, hip and experienced make up artist. I contacted her via email and she responded swiftly. We scheduled a trial and she was very flexible with my requests but honest with which hair style will work best from my hair length. She was punctual on the day of the event and fixed me up beautiful for the night. read more

Coco and her team are completely amazing and totally worth it! I was first introduced to Coco's work when I was a bridesmaid and the bride had hired her team to do hair & makeup as well. When it was time for my wedding, I knew I wanted Coco and her team for me as well. Coco and her team were punctual and completed everyone's hair and makeup to their liking. I was impressed since I had a pretty big bridal party of 7 girls and the team also completed hair&makeup for my mother and mother-in-law. Coco is super personable and easy to work with. I live out-of-state and was having my wedding in NY. Coco was so accommodating with aligning my schedule with available appointment times for the hair&makeup trial before the wedding. She had also taken my commentaries of what I liked and didn't like to heart during the trial and made me the most beautiful bride on my wedding day. Coco arrived on time at my house at 5:30 in the morning to work on my makeup and hair which was very important to me since I was crunched on time for my afternoon wedding. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she didn't disappoint. Coco did my hair and makeup for my wedding last Sunday. Her and her partner also did the hair and make up for my mom and bridesmaids. She was recommended to me by my friend. When I started getting nervous about my big day, Coco calmed me down and made me laugh with jokes. She's an amazing makeup artist and person. Long overdue review for Coco! Coco did such a wonderful job with my engagement shoot make up as well as wedding makeup and hair. Coco has partners she works with and brought enough people to make sure everyone got ready on time. I was gonna have her come at 5am but she was able to find additional partners so we were able to push the start time to 5:30 (that half hour sleep was crucial particularly when I didn't got too much sleep the night before). I was a little nervous on the timing for the day of and Coco gave me suggestions on the day of itinerary, which was really helpful. The great thing about Coco is she does both hair and make up - it was hard to find a place that does both. It would have been a hassle if I had to coordinate both. Coco is very easy to work with, flexible and professional. I didn't sign a contract with her but it wasn't an issue at all. When I was about to pay my final balance I forgot that I already put down a deposit and she reminded me! Honest, reliable, amazing work, friendly... I couldn't ask for more! read more

Coco is awesome! She is one of my favorite wedding vendors. She made me feel beautiful on my wedding day. I was a little nervous at first on how my hair will come out since I am doing something different than what I did during my trials. But not to worry, I told Coco what I wanted and she made it happen - even better than imagined! Now, I must confess that I am not a girly-girl and didn't even own a lipstick before. I had to go and buy one because Coco told me to during my trial since I will need it for touch up. So, I didn't really have any directions or ideas for Coco - I gave her a general idea of what I want my hair to look like and she made it happen. As for the makeup, I gave her no directions at all, I just sat there and she did her magic. So, just leave her be, and let her do her thing and she will make you look beautiful. I hired her for the whole day and she touched me up at least 3 or 4 times - there were times when she had to re-curl all my hair, because it was a somewhat humid day and I had naturally very straight hair. I also had her do my bridesmaids, my flower girl, my mom and MIL - they all looked gorgeous. Coco also went above and beyond her make up and hair duty - I was displeased with how my florist did my toss bouquet, so Coco who said that she knows how to arrange flowers, actually took apart the whole bouquet and re-arranged it for me and made it looked a lot better! As far as working with Coco prior to the wedding day, she is always responsive via email. I don't think I ever had to call her to follow up. She usually responded within 1 or 2 days. read more

It was amazing that Coco and her partner was able to drive out to NJ to do hair and makeup for my wedding (10/10/21)! I normally don't wear make-up so I didn't even know where to start. I don't post Yelp review often, when I do, it is because I feel strongly about my experience with a business. For my wedding, my friend recommended Coco to us for wedding gown, makeup, and photography. She was prompt and responsive in starting the process for us. She gave me a large catalog of wedding gowns to choose from. Her recommendations were on point! The gown that I ended up choosing is absolutely gorgeous and she was hands-on in making some small adjustments for me. On the day of wedding, she did my makeup and hair. I'm very impressed with her attention to details. I'm also fascinated by what an airbrush could do! Tony was our photographer and he knows what he's doing! We did our photoshoot in the Hempstead House. He showed us the best photo locations within the castle and guided us through different poses. Coco is an amazing and talented make up artist. I got married about a year ago. In short, my wedding was a fusion wedding and I needed her for the garba night before, Hindu wedding, Christian wedding and for the reception. She delivered the look that I needed for the appropriate event without any problems, and helped me figure out the best type of make up for each event. One noteworthy incident was when I was preparing for my Hindu wedding the string that held up my dress broke (Indian wedding dresses are very very heavy). I obviously got very worried and when I didn't know what to do, she came through and helped me fix up the dress, which nobody was able to do. My wedding might actually have been ruined if it weren't for her quick thinking. My Christian wedding portion, we changed the look from the dramatic make up style to a simpler look. Following the Christian wedding, I again went though another change for the reception. Again, she was great at all points. I was so grateful for her and her team for everything that they did for my special day. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a makeup artist. Thank you! read more

There are many artist out there that can only specialize in hair or only specialize in makeup. Coco is a unique stylist because she is equally good in hair and in make up. I did many trials during my engagement and ultimately chose Coco. She was very responsive and professional in her emails and texts. I loved the way Coco styled my hair during my trial. More importantly on the day of my wedding. She did hair and make up for my mom, matron of honor and a few other bridesmaids and myself. I was really happy with my hair and makeup on the day of my wedding. My make up was not over done or under done. It was not caked on. It was perfect. This is the day you want your face to look flawless. She did exactly what I asked of her and gave me suggestions.
