She gave me an amazing cut and style and the salon was bright and bustling on a Friday morning. There are definitely some great stylists here, and unfortunately some duds as I experienced last time. Your mileage may vary, but overall worth returning. ---------------------------- I drove past and saw the sign in the window advertising a $60 wash, cut, signature blowout and was in need of a trim so I thought I'd try this out. I called Saturday for an appointment and got one less than 24 hours later (warning sign perhaps?) Walking in I was initially confused because the lights were practically out (very dimmed) and I wondered if they were open, but I saw the receptionist and walked in. My total time in the chair for cut and "signature blowout" was 20 minutes. My appointment was at 1:15, I got called into the chair at 1:20, was not offered a wash because "my hair looked pretty clean". She didn't part my hair or give it more than a very light spray, the cut was over by 1:30, and there was literally no blowout, but a quick curl and I was out of the chair by 1:40. Spent 5 minutes at the register arguing with the stylists who initially wouldn't honor the $60 special in the window, saying it was a mistake and it was $80, then they called their manager who said the large sign in the window was very old and they could do $10 off instead, to make it $70. What? After a few minutes I successfully convinced them to honor the pricing advertised in the window, paid the $60, and gave a $10 tip for 20 min of work the stylist did, and was out of there by 1:45. I was absolutely dumbfounded a cut and style took 20 minutes. I was also astounded that the large sign in the window still wasn't taken down after I left, if the manager was so convinced it was old signage. The trim was basic, the style fell out 2 hours later, my haircut is HIDEOUSLY uneven, and I feel duped and wasted $70. Please run from this place.

I was in the market for a new salon to help me maintain the color block hair style I had. I first…read moretried them in May 2023, and have been returning for touch-ups every other month. Unfortunately, I experienced a tremendous amount of breakage when I moved to Thrive Salon to maintain my color style, even with every intervention and variable that I was able to control myself. (Tons of hair masks, silk bonnets, only air drying, wide-toothed combs rather than brushes, regular haircuts, high end shampoo/conditioner for color-treated hair, changing shampoo/conditioner to another color-safe one, oil sprays... you name it). I kept up with 7 week appointments at my stylist's request to help "minimize damage", but it didn't seem to do anything but put me out of more money, and result in me having less hair. I was dilligent about asking my stylist to do a "breakage check" every time I sat in her chair to try to prevent this. She always said everything looked great. In November, during my normal appointment, I cited that I was noticing substantial breakage. I should have listened to my gut when my stylist responded to my concerns with a surprise, stating "you usually see that up here" while pointing to my scalp. (In hindsight... yikes.) Despite my concerns that day, she didn't seem to heed additional cautions or change her approach. On that same day I cited bad breakage, she lifted a new brunette section of my hair (at my request in a desperate attempt to keep my hair style) *extremely* fast. What normally needs 3 sessions to go from my brunette to our target shade of blonde she somehow achieved in 1 with my roots, and could do in 2 to my ends. She was both surprised and excited at "how light it got" during my wash out. It seemed like she never had full control over her color processing, and didn't even know what she was expecting it to do. Needless to say, all of that hair started breaking in the following weeks, plus other strands. When I went to another salon to get a haircut (I find their haircuts to be outrageously priced at Thrive), the woman shared her concern with me on the health of my hair. She even questioned if Olaplex was being left out of my mix. I didn't have an answer. This salon, despite the high price tag, also doesn't include a basic rough dry for color services to check their work. They let people paying nearly $200 for color walk out with sopping wet hair. The manager assured that a rough dry ("not blow out, that was extra") was normal for color, so stylists could check their work before the customer leaves, but I was handed a blow dryer by the rinser last visit to do it myself while my stylist moved onto another client entirely. She didn't even check on me or say goodbye. It felt wrong. I was paying ~$250 every 8 weeks but couldn't get a rough dry? I had to drive home with wet hair? Despite the poor outcome with their color service, I also observed that I was being charged different ways and different prices for my exact same service every time I went. I was never given a heads up about the price differences, and only found out at the register after my stylist had left. At one point, I was charged for a haircut that I declined in the chair. (Thankfully I noticed!) After I was rung up, I told the man at the desk, and he quickly said "oh, well you got your hair dried, so we have to charge you for a blowout". The price of the blowout helped them retain all of the mischarge for the haircut I never got. It felt very shady to me. (Remember how the rough dry was supposed to be included?) Generally, I find this salon to be very expensive for the skill I was shown. I thought the price I was paying for my color blocking was fair, but seeing that I had so much breakage, maybe it was over-priced like some of their other a la carte menu. ($75 for a *trim* is too rich for my blood.) I'm leaving an extra star despite my experience because when I did have a chance to speak with the salon manager, she was open to feedback, stayed true to her promises of when she would get back to me, and offered a refund for the past haircut/blowout fiasco I retold above. She understandably stood behind her staff, but I was disappointed that the stylist's word was always taken over the customer's. (I have no reason to lie about a service I didn't receive....) They also got me in quickly around the very busy holidays when I called and let them know more of my hair was breaking and I needed to come in to resolve it with my stylist. I appreciate them doing that for me. One last shoutout - Jen at the wash station was seriously a highlight of my experience. Love her and wish the best for her.

My make-up looked flawless, and it stayed on all night, even through rain, snow, and hours of sweaty dancing. My makeup was gorgeous, but It was not over done, and I just looked like the most beautiful version of myself. Not only did she know exactly what she was doing, but she listened when myself or bridal party had questions/concerns, or wanted even small details modified. She made us feel so comfortable about giving her feedback. She even talked my mother, whose nerves were understandably running high, into having a good cry before she got her makeup done. It made he rest of the day go so much more smoothly. Not only was she the best make up artist, but our therapist. I would highly recommend her. She was professional, and has the perfect personality for the job. I will certainly be calling her next time I need my makeup done. Tracy did my hair and she was fantastic. For my trial, she styled my hair for another event, and I never actually had a trial for the bridal hairstyle I wanted. However, I could tell how talented she was and I trusted her completely. For my wedding, I showed her a picture of something I liked, but asked for a few differences, and she got it so right. My hair didn't budge all night, even through wind, rain, and hours of dancing. She also did my mother and cousin's hair. She managed to make their hair look soft, but the styles stayed put all night. She was so patient with my mother, who was unsure of how to communicate what kind of hair style she wanted, and in the end, it turned out beautiful. For our first look, the first words out of my husband's mouth were "your hair looks so beautiful". I could not have been happier with my hair.

"Nikki Jay," the Hairstylist & Makeup "Con Artist."…read more Can't believe this fraudster actually waited until 9:20 p.m. on May 16, 2025, less than 14 hours before her arrival at our home to tell my "Bride to Be" that she needed to bring her ill and in need of medical treatment, adolescent child and a Babysitter to our home while she did my Wife's hair and makeup. It's disappointing to know a Mother would put her child's health at further risk to travel 60 plus miles for a few dollars. So of course, we told her NO WAY were we going to allow her to bring her ill child and his Baby Sitter to our home, while "Nikki Jay" gave her child breathing treatments between doing my Wife's hair and makeup.  Nikki Jay even went as far to text message us what she indicated were "real time" photographs of her son in an ambulance with oxygen tubes hooked up to him. Nevertheless, Nikki Jay was still insistent on bringing her medically ill son in need of around the clock attention and his Baby Sitter to our home in just 14 hours later on OUR WWEDDING DAY. You just can't make this stuff up! Sorry, but there was nothing in the contract that even remotely indicated:  "BEWARE, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO BRING AN ILL ADOLESCENT CHILD, A BABY SITTER AND MY CHILD MAY REQUIRE MEDICAL TREATMENTS, WHICH MAY CAUSE INTERMITTENT INTERRUPTIONS DURING THE HAIR STYLING AND MAKEUP ARTISTRY PROCESSS." Nikki J Artistry, LLC/Andrea Jones Breached the Contract. As Women/Brides to Be/Fiance's/Wives, I'm sure you can imagine how emotionally unsettling this was for my Wife to go through less than 16 hours before our Wedding. Seeing my wife like this was absolute torture to see her emotionally distressed, confused, pained, nervous, uncertain, saddened and nearly defeated that her Wedding Day was going to be ruined. So we Thank God for being able to secure a Mother/Daughter Hair Stylist & Makeup Duo Team before midnight on the eve of our wedding.  And As far as "Nikki J Makeup Artistry LLC/Andrea Jones" goes... Trifling is the only way to describe her. If I could give this woman less than ZERO Stars, I would.  Hire this girl at your own risk. We Got Receipts: Emails, text messages, various website/media messages, photographs, screenshots and a signed contract that Nikki Jay Artistry, LLC defaulted on, didn't honor, and did not live up to. Nikki Jay Artistry, LLC even threatened us with legal action for writing negative reviews about her when she's the one that has put herself in position to have legal action taken against her. Oh well ‍ With purposeful intent,  A Ticked Off Husband.

The night before my wedding after 9 pm, she contacted me to tell me that her son had a medical condition that required around the clock treatment and told me that she needed to bring him to my home. On top of that she stated that she also needed to bring a BABYSITTER to my home because she didn't have childcare otherwise. 2-3 days prior to my wedding she randomly asked if I had a dog. I didn't think anything of it but once this was all taking place, she knew that her child's medical condition wasn't up to par. She KNEW this and should have let me know in order to make arrangements to have another artist hired if she could not keep her end of the contract. She wanted to set me up where I had no other choice except to have her sick child and a babysitter in my home while she performed hair and makeup services! ABSOLUTELY NOT! This would have been a bad situation had her child gotten sicker in my home! What type of mother would think to bring her child to a strangers home! Major liability for himself and my husband! It makes me wonder if she has done this before. I told NIkki that she needed to take care of her child and refund me all of my money for breaking the contract. I cannot tell you the grief and heartbreak I felt hours before my big day! Crying in my husband's arms while he tried to console me! It was a complete nightmare! Any bride or young lady for prom that is looking for makeup and hair services from Nikki I'm urging you to BEWARE!!!!! You could be forced to have random people in your home that aren't providing services you requested OR end up trying to find a replacement in the last hours before your important day!
