Placed a pick up order on door dash and so glad we did. This place was B U S Y!! The guys behind the counter were juggling but friendly. We ordered the makefish nachos (definitely a share plate), the spam egg and unagi musubi, yummm! And 1 small order of spicy salmon poke (just the right amount of spice), and we wanted to try the unagi nigiri but they sold out! By 7pm on a Friday night.. that's telling. This place is fresh, fun and definitely worth it. It is on the pricey side. We enjoyed it and plan to come back to sit outside on their tables and enjoy more of the menu! Till next time :)
It was a good experience, very testy food, all really fresh ingredients, and good portions and a lot of colors, the guys were very helpful explaining everything, it is a good option, I definitely will back
Wow. This place is sooo good! I stumbled upon it while looking for some good poke for my birthday dinner. I wanted something low-key and easy to take home, and this was perfect. I ordered the Poke Nachos with Hawaiian Salmon and Ahi, and the pieces of fish were HUGE! Definitely worth the price. The place wasn't too busy when I went, and the staff were super friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Maybe the hamachi next time!
This might be one of my new favorite poke spots. I was like a small kid in a candy store. Trays of fresh seasoned poke like what you would find at a traditional poke spot in Hawaii. They also had some premade sushi available that looked pretty good and was decently priced. They let you sample up to two flavors before deciding. Salmon poke is usually my go to choice so I decided to sample something different. Hamachi Bomb. And boy, was it "the bomb". I immediately ordered a small A La Carte order. Must to my surprise, it came with a pretty generous side order of shrimp chips. Really a perfect companion. Light and crispy and you can appreciate the fresh poke without all of the toppings (which I do enjoy as well). I also ordered a Masubi which appeared to be made to order. The got the one with everything in it (egg, spam, and tempura shrimp). It's a pretty large sized masubi and I ate it before I could even take a photo. No seating inside but there are several small tables and chairs out front. It was rather hot on the day I went to so I took my items To Go. Definitely going to come back again if I'm in the area. The fish was very fresh. Staff very friendly and inviting.
We went here again because it's that good. We got it to-go this time and ate at home. Poke was still fresh with great authentic Hawaiian style flavors. Eating here reminds us of Hawaii so much.
Yummy fish. I'm from Hawaii and miss the poke bowls from back home. This place came pretty close, the fish was soft and marinated enough in the sauce. They also had stuff in a little refrigerator for to go snacks. So I got a pack of ... I forgot what's it's called LOL but YUM
By far one of my favorite poke places. They sell fresh poke and I was really excited to try their food. I ordered their nachos with the salmon bomb and the California salmon. My husband got 3 different ahi tuna flavors (tuna bomb, garlic tuna) and one other flavor I didn't remember. All the items were delicious. My husband mentioned that this is pretty close to what he would have in hawaii. The service was friendly and helpful. They asked if we have any questions to let them know. The store itself is very simple and small. The cold fridges with all the fish, and another 2 fridges for drinks. They had outside tables that were nice and cool to enjoy our fish. We will definitely be back here!
I am pleasantly surprised at how amazing the fish quality and flavors are here. This is my new favorite poke place in the Sacramento-ElkGrove area. Jesse and Aaliyah really helped me with the menu since the setup was different from what I was used to. I was able to try the hamachi and the spicy garlic tuna and I am now in love. Their shrimp chips are also so damn good ! The restaurant is located next door to some really good eateries as well. And the walk up ordering is more takeout so handy for the busy folks around.
a poke lover's dream. the location has outdoor seating, but no indoor seating, so it's definitely more of a grab-and-go kind of situation. location is super aesthetic & simple, & ordering was really easy. i specifically came here for the poke nachos because they use fried wontons as the "nachos". the cashiers were extremely sweet & let me taste the different poke options before deciding. ended up getting the poke nachos with sweet & spicy salmon & chili ahi tuna. for the price, the plate was packed. you get a really good amount of food, & everything was fresh, flavorful, & blended together really well.

I got the large poke bowl with mixed salad base, furikake bomb ahi, and salmon bomb poke. Added seaweed salad and cucumbers on top. There were so many things on the menu that I would like to try. I will definitely be coming back for more. Everything was fresh and I loved the different textures and flavors.
Great grab and go options when in the area. Not the greatest quality but it gets the job done. Big portions! Not my go to, just convenient for the area.

They have a grab and go case and a display case full of items like seaweed salad in addition to their poke bowls, sushirrito and musubis. They have tables and chairs on their front patio and the restaurant is located on 18th and L St., in between Saigon Alley and Bober Tea. The service was awesome, with the gentleman in front of the store making sure we were informed of the grand opening promo deal and ensuring the line moved quickly. Thanks!
Make Fish had their grand opening recently and I finally got to try their sushi burrito! It was very busy that day. I understand the hype now and all their poke on display looks so delicious and fresh! They have many drinks and snacks available for purchase as well. The staff is very friendly and the food came out fast! I tried the Three Waves sushi burrito and I loved how it has guacamole, veggies, and another yummy sauce in it. Near the register is where you can get utensils and sauce packets if needed. The interior of the store is a bit small, but that is normal because it is located in Midtown. Parking was difficult because it's in a popular area and many spots are taken. Luckily I found a pay for parking area with a meter. They have limited outdoor seating so it's first come first serve.

My friends and I went this past Sunday as we were craving poke really bad in between plans and this definitely did not disappoint. The interior was lit well from both the natural lighting and the lights inside. There is a lot of space inside to accommodate long lines but the time we went was not super busy. The display case showed all the different poke and the descriptions written on the glass. The person who helped us was very enthusiastic, answered our questions, and let us know we were able to try two of the pokes to help us make our decision. I got the small poke bowl with the chili garlic ahi and rice, my friend got the furikake bomb poke with salad, and my other friend got one of their hot food items (I can't quite remember what it was but it was a friend chicken with rice). Everything we had was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and filling! My poke in particular had the perfect amount of spice, umami, and the ahi was so tender. The rice itself was amazing sushi rice and was so freaking perfect. The price is within the $15-$25 range but I do think that's standard pricing for poke in Sacramento. We are outside with was completely fine because the weather was amazing but please note that there isn't indoor seating and could be a problem if the weather wasn't very good. I hope the restaurant considers getting a few small tables inside because I do think they have the room for it. Regardless - amazing food and would go again! read more

These are hands down the best Poke Nachos! I seriously love the flavor and all the amazing toppings they come with. The serranos add that perfect extra kick of heat . And guess what? The wonton chips stay crunchy even with all the sauces and toppings on them - amazing! My absolute go-to orders are the Hamachi Bomb and Salmon Bomb. They're both flavor bombs, truly delicious with every single scoop and bite. If you're on the hunt for a great poke spot, this is definitely the place to check out. Bonus points for the super friendly and attentive staff! There's also some outdoor seating where you can chill and enjoy your food. Came back today and unfortunately we found a long piece of hair embedded into the rice of my large poke bowl :/ Normally I can look past this but I had bought the food for someone else to enjoy and this was disappointing. I would've brought it up in store or called them but I had already driven 25+ min. away. Just wanted to bring this to attention. Otherwise, I do still think their fish quality is pretty up there - scoops could be bigger for the price but the cuts are pretty big. Salmon aburi was alright but it's a good deal with 3 pcs for $6.95. Poke bowl toppings are a bit limited/could be expanded but their current offerings do taste fresh. read more

I am so glad Make Fish is back! I really missed them while they were gone. I really love sushi burritos and it does hit the spot. I would say that the concept is really cool, but the burrito itself is pretty messy, but if you know what you're getting into, it's not bad. We went in and was immediately greeted by a very friendly worker there. He offered us some samples to try out and I settled on the chili garlic poke. I love me some chili crunch and this felt like poke with chili crunch on it. My hubs really enjoyed his sushi burrito, but it's pretty messy as mentioned. We sat outside on the cute patio and enjoyed the nice day. They have Hawaiian drinks and other canned drinks for purchase as well. I hope this spot is here to stay for a long while. read more
Having lived on Big Island, this is definitely a solid poke spot. Fresh, largely cut fish chunks, and well marinated-not overwhelmingly saucy like most places so you can actually taste the fish. It is a bit pricey at almost $25 for a poke plate, but you get an ample serving of high quality poke for the price. Only wish they had other sides/toppings like ogo or pickled onion-otherwise would recommend! read more

I was really excited to try make fish again! It was spoken about really well online. I came during their soft opening so not all items were available and that's okay. My party and I got a handful of both cooked items, poke and other things. I am more of a tuna person rather than salmon. And I felt on the day I went they didn't have many tuna options. This is just a preference thing for me but I did wish there were more simple tuna options not like spicy or super dressed up. The food was good. Not Hawaii, but still good. Everything looked fresh but I didn't get to try all the poke flavors. Additionally I got some cucumbers and it was good at first but I got a bit that tested like chemicals? (Likely just my pallet). But it really threw me off and I lost my appetite. Even so -- the staff was sooo kind and helpful. Offered samples, answered questions and was kind. I feel like even though it was soft opening, I left feeling not so impressed. I will definitely come back to try again though! read more

They're BAAAACK! They have some of the freshest poke with incredible portions so I had to go with friends during their soft opening. One friend has been, and one tried for the first time and I definitely converted her. You can try two poke as samples and they gave nice thick cubes' I sampled the chili garlic ahi and the spicy salmon- both actually spicy. I got a large poke bowl with sushi rice, Hawaiian Salmon, Salmon Bomb, cucumbers, seaweed salad, unagi drizzle, and spicy aioli for $23.50. Their fish is extremely fresh, just like I remember. I've heard a lot about Make Fish since it's blown up on social media recently, and as it turns out, it's actually a business that took a break and came back stronger, which I have to commend. I've never been to Hawaii, but this is what I imagine authentic Hawaiian poke to be like, minus some of the mix-ins. The interior is nice, clean, and modern, with a deli-style counter full of pans of marinated fish. Absolutely gorgeous sight. They also have fridges off to the side stocked with premade sushi, various deli items like squid salad and jellyfish salad, as well as Hawaiian beverages. Very enticing from the moment you walk in. I ordered a small poke bowl and a drink for about $23 after tax. Pretty steep for a small size, and it was indeed a small size. I'd probably go with the large next time. It is pricey, but unlike a lot of poke places around Sac, this actually feels very premium. The mix-ins are simpler than other places, but they taste fresher. The sushi rice was the perfect texture, and the seaweed salad, cucumbers, and serranos add that crisp freshness and balance of flavors. The Hawaiian ahi, which was the flavor I ordered, was superb. Bar none the best poke I've had in Sacramento, and honestly anywhere, granted I've never had poke in Hawaii. Big chunks of fish with the cleanest flavor. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The marinade was the perfect balance of sweet and umami from the sauce and onions, while the macadamia nuts added a rich, fatty depth. Exceptional. I'm not sure I can go back to my usual poke spots anymore. Worth every penny. read more

Came on a weekday, fairly easy parking. Spent $23.50 for two (2) protein poke nachos that were ACTUALLY worth the money which was insane! They do NOT skimp on the portions here. The fish is fairly fresh, one of the samples I tried did have a fishy taste though (california salmon), and I wish all of the fish were cut a little smaller, BUT for the quantity and the price point I'm most definitely coming back. Not to mention the grab and go utensils, napkins, soy sauce, wasabi AND ginger make this an all around really great spot. You can find parking around the area for the first two hours free. The poke nachos are a GREAT bang for your buck. I got spicy salmon and spicy ahi, and the wonton chips were super crunchy and crispy. The avocado was fresh and they gave a huge amount of tobiko, cucumber, and crab salad. I wish they gave more red onion but I was genuinely a happy camper, I can't wait to come back! Service was excellent. New favorite poke spot in Sacramento. read more
I heard Make Fish was having a grand opening and I decided to stop by bright and early to try their sushi burritos! The line out the door was insanely long and everyone seemed so excited to try some poke! When I first walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff and immediately saw their fridge display with so many different flavors of poke in it. Their menu has great options and to the left of it was a fridge filled with many drinks. I ordered the Three Waves Burrito and it was superb! I was really craving some poke and it really hit the spot. I like how they included some fried tempura bits in it to give some crunch with every bite you take. The fish was fresh and was not fishy at all. The store itself is very clean and organized, however it's on the smaller side. They do offer seating outside for people to eat or hang out, but there is none inside. read more

No indoor seating, but the outdoor setup with umbrellas makes it a great grab and go patio spot, especially with warmer weather coming. Service was a highlight. Staff walked me through the menu and offered samples, which made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. Ordered a small bowl with the salmon bomb (furikake & tobiko), sushi rice, cucumbers, serrano peppers, and seaweed salad. Small comes with one poke, large with two. Everything tasted fresh, especially the fish and rice. Not usually a big poke person, but this definitely changed my mind. Solid portions, quality ingredients, and a strong first impression, excited to see how they evolve past soft opening. read more
Quality and fresh food at Make Fish is what makes me keep coming back! My family and I came here back in the days before they closed a few years ago. The new revamped restaurant now has a very large menu and lots of variety. There is no seating inside, only 4-5 tables outside so if you have a large group it might be challenging. So far I've tried the sushi burrito, pork belly fries and spam misubi's. They really pack the amount of fish/protein in the burritos. Caution their "spicy" is actually very spicy! Only complaint I have is that twice now I have ordered a spam and egg misubi and both times, I only received a spam misubi (no egg in it). read more
Solid poke spot. The quality of the fish seemed good. While a bit pricey, the portions are big for the nachos and the burrito and will fill you up with large pieces of fish. Tons of options to choose from - will come back to try more flavors. read more

Ordered the poke nachos which was a GENEROUS PORTION!!! The service was great! They allow you to sample two flavors before you order. Inside is very clean as well. They have seating outside! The fish was very fresh and flavorful! My only thing was that some pieces of fish were cut SO BIG and it was a little hard to eat but otherwise no complaints read more

I have been here through all the iterations of Make Fish and Wrap N Roll, and I had high expectations of their return. Honestly, the sushi burrito didn't hit as hard as it used to. There wasn't as much rice which was good but the structure integrity was not there. There wasn't as much sauce as there used to be. It honestly tasted healthier but I think I preferred it the old way. The fish and tempura were great! I also ordered the poke and it comes with furikake dusted shrimp chips which were delicious! $8 for a solid snack/light lunch. The spam musubi was fine. The addition of egg and avocado were good but didn't warrant such a higher price. Overall, I'm glad I tried it but it has lost its luster for me. The staff are helpful and offer each person two samples of poke upon entry. There are some seating available inside and lots of nice outdoor patio seating. An upscale Californian style deli establishment. Cute fonts and decor! read more

Finally got to try Make Fish market a week ago and can say I was quite impressed with the quality of the food. They have a nice little patio for you to sit in case you want to enjoy your food there. Unfortunately, that day it was cold and we took our food back home and were unable to take advantage of the said patio. The staff were very welcoming and helpful when it came to driving what to order. They have it all from poke bowls to the sushi burritos themselves. Both items we got were delicious and filling. I'd definitely recommend everyone come try them out with the weather changing days getting better. read more
Love their poke! Fish are very fresh and tender, seriously is hard to find this quality! Super friendly staff, they will let you try their different type of poke before buying or even after you already ordered . All their poke are so good, my hm fave were their garlic chili tuna and salmon bomb! I M looking forward to come back again! My wife came here looking for Poke and she was really pleased. Since it is midtown, it is a little harder to find street parking. The fish is fresh and the shrimp chips are amazing. I got the chicken karaage don, which was great and very flavorful. The next time I tried the tempura shrimp sushi burrito and the kale was a little tough in texture for my liking. I'll skip the sushi burrito next time, but overall a wonderful poke spot. read more
I'm so happy Make Fish is back! They're in the same location, which makes them easy to find. I used to visit their Midtown and Elk Grove spots often before moving out here, so I was really sad when they closed during COVID. It's great to see them open again. I stopped by during their soft opening and liked that they now offer different poke styles, similar to Foodieland. They also have pre-made rolls and other cold items ready to grab, which is convenient. If you're familiar with their menu, you'll be glad to know the pork belly fries and poke nachos are still on there. I ordered the nachos along with some à la carte poke: Wasabi Limu Ahi - 5/5 Spicy Salmon - 5/5 Chili Garlic Ahi - 5/5 The poke itself was refreshing and also came with a side of shrimp chips. The poke nachos didn't have all the toppings from what I remember, but they were still good. Prices have gone up a bit, but it feels fair given the quality and grade of the fish and also the market. I love supporting this business, so I'm really glad they've reopened and I'll be back again! read more

Sushi burritos are BACK!!! I'm so happy that Make Fish is back in their original location after a long break. I missed these burritos! Seriously, I used to dream about them! The sushi burritos are my fave (imagine a burrito size sushi roll with tons of fresh fish, great flavor, and light on the rice. It's a serious protein punch!) They also have poke bowls, poke by the pound, snacks, drinks and even grab and go rolls. With plenty of patio seating to enjoy your food. Welcome back to Midtown Make Fish! read more

came here for the first time. seevice was nice and welcoming. saw a video on the poke nachos so we went with that. ordered it with ahi tuna and spicy salmon. poke pieces were a little bit bigger than usual but it didnt mess with the flavor and wish there was an option to add more spicy mayo. also got the spam, unagi and egg musibi with the spicy sauce on the side. the sauce was a nice addition. would come again for just the musubi itself. has a nice seating area right outside the shop read more
Walking in the establishment is very clean and spacious. So seating inside. But plenty outside. The owner & staff were friendly. I chose a sushi burrito and off bat my cashier said I chose a good one! Grateful for his reassuring comment. Flavorful! Fresh! And definitely crunchy! read more
I'm really glad the pork belly fries are back. The parent company always seems to change this place for a new concept, but I'm so glad they brought back this one. Came in on a weekday afternoon!
