It was like this on both sides, there was AMPLE room in the parking lot for them to place the dumpsters away from my truck

The beautiful location is the only good thing about this place. I stayed here for a 30 day vacation rental while waiting for my home loan to close. It was horrible from the first day. The property manager was rude and discriminatory. I had recently bought a used car, and because of Covid, had to mail in the title transfer, I had the bill of sale/insurance/safety check, but obviously no valid registration yet, I even had proof of a DMV apt for the next week. We arrived around 9pm with two toddlers and were not allowed to park my vehicle on property, even just for that first night. We had to drive all the way across the island to leave the car at a friends, because there really isn't anywhere I felt safe leaving my car parked overnight in that area. The next morning, I hear a pounding on my door, it's the property manager...I have a service dog, and mentioned that during check in. She proceeded to yell at me that pets aren't allowed, I informered her again that he is a service dog, she told me that I need to have my "pet" approved by their board, which takes ten days, and that I needed to remove my service dog from the property until getting it approved, or I would be fined daily. The form she gave me literally asked every illegal question about ESA/service dogs (see pictures). I obviously never filled it out, but provided them what paperwork I had for him, and believe that may be part of reason we were treated so poorly during our stay... The first time I needed to do laundry (the machines-which are dirty and a rip off- were quite the trek from our third floor condo), a maintenance worker sees me struggling with two laundry baskets and two kids, headed towards the elevator, I am waiting and waiting, and it's not until another family came up behind us, that a worker informed us that the elevator was "out of service for cleaning/maintenance", then proceeded to turn and laugh with a coworker about the situation, forcing me to take the stairs (at least my legs appreciated the workout!!). After starting my load of laundry, the elevator was back in service and hadn't been cleaned at all. In fact, the elevator wasn't sanitized or cleaned one time during my entire stay, despite the sign inside the elevator claiming that they were sanitizing high touch areas daily. Oddly, they pressured washed the walkways outside of my condo almost daily, coincidently during nap time. If they weren't pressure washing outside my condo, they were mowing, weed whacking... it seemed like pretty much anything they could do to make noise during my children's nap time(thank goodness for white noise machines). One morning I revived another knock on my door, saying that I needed to move my truck out of the visitors lot, because "it was in the way of them emptying the dumpsters", so I drag the kids and dog down to the guest lot, only to find my truck literally surrounded by ALREADY EMPTY dumpsters, they were sitting so close that I had to scrape the doors against the sides of the smelly dumpsters to climb in. They obviously didn't need me to move my truck, they just wanted to harass me and made sure that I noticed, because the next trash day, my truck was parked in the exact same spot, and they managed to empty and clean all the dumpsters away from my truck, with no problem. We received eight ridiculous notices on our door during our stay, all threatening fines. One for leaving a large cardboard box outside our front door for a few hours, the cardboard box was long gone by the time they left the notice the next morning, one for allowing my children's life jackets to dry on the floor of the lanai overnight, we got a notice for backing into our parking spot in the parking garage (apparently there is one specific section where backing in isn't allowed), we got another notice because my child jumped into the pool (no one else was there, he wasn't running or screaming, just climbing out and safely jumping back into the pool from the ladder). They also tried to tell us that I couldn't allow my dog to use the bathroom (pee or poop) anywhere on the property! After the first few days, I realized they have all of these rules because of the vile people that live there. A lot of the units smelt extremely bad, the nasty aroma would fill the walkways and corridors, people were smoking cigarettes in their units, and the central HVAC system would waft the smoke into all the neighboring units. There was a lot of meth use and drunks wondering the property. Makaha Surfside felt like a horrible, dirty prison. I would not recommend renting or buying there.

Yes on the beach there are tents full of homeless people. If you lived in Hawaii without any help from the government and you would be homeless too because the inflation of everything. Before we got here we read a lot of things about people breaking into cars and stuff like that... Well tell you what I have never in my life had issues with people breaking into my car because I do not let myself be a victim! If you leave stuff in your car you're just opening the door for opportunity. Let me start by telling you the pros of this condominium.... The gate to the hotel parking lot requires a key fob... Then you have to use the key fob to get in to the steel gate to the actual condos... Then you need the key Fob to get you into the elevator... Then to get to your actual condo you need a key. There is security from 3 PM to sometime in the morning. The out side of the condos have been worn down from normal seaside wear and tear but are structurally intact. The elevator was very clean, the outside was clean and my condo was absolutely stunning. (We rented ours out through an AirBNB ad and it was the best thing ever). The beach is never busy always clean and crystal clear. The waves are a little rough at times near the shore it's perfect for inner tubes Rafes stuff like that... And once you get past the edge of the waves it's pretty calm and you could snorkel. The cons- This condo is a bit a ways away from large retail stuff like target Walmart Costco... It's only a short distance but because of traffic it takes a little bit longer than you like about 50 minutes to get into Honolulu 35 minutes to get to Costco. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a nice getaway from all the chaos of Hawaii :)

We were so happy staying at the Hawaiian Princess on our family vacation. Away from the…read moreHonolulu/Waikiki chaos of tourism. Let me just get down to the knit and gritty. I'm not going to sugar coat this one. The Princess is a 16 story tall condo complex that is securely gated with a public beach access. There is security on the grounds 24/7. There are key fobs that access the main gate and the key fobs access the elevator, pool area and gates to the beach. We felt 10,000% safe here with our child during our 10 night stay in March during Spring Break. 50% are long term residents. 50% are vacation rentals. Lets talk about smoking - NO SMOKING on any of the lanais, pool area, BBQ area, ect. You'll get kicked off the property and they mean it. There is a designated smoking area behind the tennis courts. We never smelt any stank on the property. Which was great because cigarettes are gross! Lets talk about theft - We had zero issues with theft here in Waianae or on the island in general. Remain vigilant. Don't leave valuables in your vehicle. Don't leave your vehicle unlocked. We left absolutely nothing in our rental car. Not even a phone charger. Nothing! We even took down our dash info for the Princess when we went into public areas. We didn't want to be like, "look over here, this is a vacationer with a rental car" Be smart about it. Let's talk about the homeless - It's a thing here! There are indeed many. A huge population of displaced people. Some encampments along the 93 Farrington from Makaha south to Kapolei can be 100 - 200 sized encampments of tent city. It's a real thing here. The Princess had a few strays passing through since its a public beach. But not one person camping on the beach of the Princess. They have really cracked down on that and have no camping signs on the rocks. If the homeless make you uncomfortable, stay in Honolulu and Waikiki in a resort with the tourist craze. We are from the SF Bay area and homeless all over where we live and it's normal to us. But if your from Kansas or something, you might get a little freaked out. Lets talk about driving - There is one road in and one road out. It takes about 30 mins to get to Kapolei. And about 1hr to get to Honolulu. We loved staying far far far away from people. Honestly, when we return, we'd stay at the Princess. No questions asked. Let's talk about the neighborhood - It's a little rough. A lot of older run down homes. A lot of junk in front of people's homes. There is a huge feral cat population. There are wild roosters, chickens and peacocks running around. There are Island puppies. No one fixes their animals and are mostly in tact leading to a huge over population here. All of the homeless have dogs and puppies with them. The roosters start crowing at 5am. You'll hear them and you'll see them. Everyone has been very friendly though. Its definitely its own little community up here. If it all makes you feel uncomfortable, again, you might want to stay in Honolulu/Waikiki tourist chaos. Conclusion- We would 1,000% stay here again.

If you like remote Hawaii without masses of tourists, this is a great place to vacation. On the other hand, if high prices, small rooms, thousands of tourists, crowded beaches, and overpriced Waikiki restaurants are your liking, Hawaiian Princess ain't your place I love the peacefulness of Waianae. Glad it's got a bad rap so masses stay away

He moved out at the 11-month mark and had the place professionally cleaned, yet Sharon refused to return his deposit. Instead of offering a fair solution -- like a small deduction or fine for leaving one month early -- she was completely unreasonable. We even heard a phone call recording where she was yelling at him. It was truly unprofessional. Throughout his stay, the unit had constant issues: workers coming in and out without proper notice, broken fixtures like a glass screen door that never opened, and a general appearance that made it look like a neglected or previously damaged space. It felt more like a rundown, patched-up unit than a proper rental. Do not rent from this company, and especially avoid their Makaha Towers listings. The experience was awful.
