We've been coming here for years. Ten years at least. We skipped once and bought a pre-cut tree from a different nursery. Won't make that mistake again. The pre-cut tree cost twice as much and had needles falling off weeks earlier than we were used to.
I can't speak to the pre-cut trees at Majestic, because we've always cut down our own tree. We usually cut a week after Thanksgiving, and the tree lasts well past Christmas. It's a Christmas tradition I always look forward to!
First you talk to one of the helpers who give you a hacksaw and point out where the different species are, and ask if you're looking for anything in particular. We're always look for something tall and narrow like a fir, with sparser branches for lots of room for ornaments.
Then you cruise the fields for a while and pick your favorite. You get on the ground and find the best spot to cut the trunk, while trying not to get any sap on you (although getting sap on myself might be part of the tradition at this point anyway). Carry your fresh kill back to the helpers who will put it through a few machines to shake off the dead needles and wrap it all up in a net, then put it on your car. Pay inside the building ($46 as of 2018) where there's always warm cider and cookies waiting. There's not much else to say except that Majestic Tree Farm is Christmas AF. read more
