I have had good experience with Maitz with their service and costs. Just had a new heater/air conditioner put in. Nice unit, workers were fine, but did have a couple hiccups as they programmed the thermostat and the unit differently, so my unit went off twice, right when it hit the freezing mark. The tech that came out the second time was great. Now to go onto the bad part, I financed this, the salesman said I would get 0% for a year and 12.99 after. Bad on my part, didn't really read what I signed. The finance company, Goodleap had me at 12.99 day 1. It took 7 calls to Maitz to get them to rectify it, and yet they didn't. They sent me a new contract that had 0%, but something was never done to get the finance company to cancel the first and switch to the 2nd. I was so done with the lack of getting this fixed, I just switched to a 0% credit card, bummer part, I had to pay a 5% fee to transfer. So I'm not sure what to do going forward with maintenance, but it's a super big lesson on questioning to be sure what I am being told is what I'm getting. read more

Upon reflection, decided I wanted something a bit different. The advisor said sure, we do that. Do you want a quote? Yes. And then crickets. So, called him directly. Never got in touch. We chose Maitz because our oil boiler died during the coldest part of winter 2025. We had tried calling a few places but most couldn't even come for an evaluation for a week. We had one company in, but they used cheap equipment and were pretty rude during their visit. I have to say, the Maitz salesperson who came was truly doing his job. He sold us on the excellent service they would provide...guaranteeing that the installation would be completely professional and that we'd receive the best service for years after installation. Full transparency...we have an old house and getting to the basement is not easy. However, I'm sure we're not the first house like ours and any professional company should be able to manage the installation. Day of installation. 2 techs showed up and were rude for the entire duration of the installation. Sales guy promised they would put down protection for our floors and make sure everything stayed clean. They put down a few pieces of cardboard leading from a door in the kitchen to the basement, but then proceeded to go in and out of a different door tracking muddy snow through the house. They spilled oil all over our basement floor while taking the old boiler out. Again, they were rude and unfriendly the entire time. Installation complete. We noticed the boiler was a bit rougher sounding and louder than we expected for a new unit. They said "your chimney needed cleaning" and didn't budge. We were pretty sure that wasn't the case but who could argue with professionals. A day later and we're smelling strong oil smell and we noticed oil in the tray below the boiler. We called them. One of the same technicians comes out to take a look. He's all friendly now and says they "must have broken a gasket" during installation but he fixed it. Ok, fine. Another day goes by and we're still smelling oil, strongly. They send a completely different technician out. He's down there for a while and then we can hear him on a call with someone. Then he tells us that something wasn't set right and so it was spraying too much oil into the burning chamber (burning through half our oil tank in just a few days!!) and he basically had to perform a complete cleaning/service because it was sooty, and tune the entire system. He explains all the extra oil was actually leaking out, pooling on the tray, causing the smell. We didn't get any calls from the company, any apology, no offer of a discount or reimbursement for this fiasco. Even the sales person never followed up to see how the installation went. Fast-forward to Fall 2025. We switch off the oil boiler in the summer and switch to electric, so before we switched back to oil, we wanted it serviced. Decided to call them since they did the installation. Couldn't get in until Feb 2026. The day of the service comes and they had sent the wrong type of technician! He could only work on gas furnaces, not oil. They had to reschedule. The night before the new appt, we got a call that said they were canceling because they were only taking "emergency appts" for the time being. We had a scheduled appt!! I can understand not taking on any NEW service appts, but this had been scheduled for months and was only rescheduled due to their incompetence. So we are DONE with them. I would give them 0 stars if possible and recommend you to RUN away from them as quickly as you can. read more

I pay $20 monthly for a service contract with this company. They are supposed to inspect my two HVAC units twice annually. Up until last year they would call me to schedule these inspections, usually one to two months in advance. The last inspection was in November 2024. They have not called me since. Discovering that, I called them today to schedule inspections and was told the earliest they could do it is four months from now. I was told they have a lot of inspections to do and that is the earliest they could do mine. Because of that and the fact they charge more for plumbing work than any other plumbers I used in the past, I cancelled my contract. One of my HVAC units is still under warranty, so I expect them to honor that and perform annual inspections at no cost to me. Let us see how that turns out. read more

I gave a 5 star review to this company last year, I believe. That was a mistake. Since then Maitz has proven to be like many similar big heating/cooling/plumbing companies and maybe worse. Fast talking technicians have you sign a contract they include in your service bill without explaining what you're signing for. I found out I signed for what I believed was a regular maintenance service of my furnace and a/c, but they changed the appointment date without notifying me and when they did arrive on the changed date they claimed it was just for furnace and not a/c. About six weeks later my furnace broke down. I called Maitz believing they would stand by their work but they informed me that wasn't the case. I needed service so I had to request emergency service about 11 am. It was very cold, they said they would be over between 2-6 pm. At about 1:30 pm my hot water heater also broke down. I called Maitz to inform them. They said the appointment would be more like 4-6 pm. At about 2pm they called to tell me they cancelled my appointment because they "didn't have the man power" Three hours that I could have called another company wasted. I called for pricing locally in Pennsylvania , and somebody from harp in Connecticut kept ringing my phone off​​ the hook. Once answered, I was told Maitz was their 'sister' company. Told her I was looking for pricing, and was more interested in setting up appointment and appointment than giving me membership pricing. ONCE she underdstood (and it took a while, as well as hanging up on her several times) she started blurting out numbers, and didnt sound to educated on them. She was pricing me per unit, and when she got to my AC, which is a ductless unit, she priced me for every mini split head unit as a seperate AC unit. So for an HVAC duct unit it would be $120, but for a ductless unit with 4 heads, it would be 120 per head, and also for compressor. So $600 just for my ac unit. lol then 120$ for furnace, and extra because its oil, and at that point I just hung up and blocked the number because she was compulsive about calling me. I pay my current Deluxe/Haller company $380 a year. And that INCLUDES all my mini splits, heat, all plumbing, all electric and free servicing twice a year for heat and ac, 15% on parts and labor, priority service calls and heavily discounted service calls (like $19.00 if im not mistaken) I will NEVER EVER sign with Maitz, or HARP, or whatever they call themselves. read more

The ultimate extreme disappointment started when they gave us a four hour window (12pm-4pm) in which they would arrive, which we thought was a little annoying -- they really need that much flexibility in their scheduling? -- but whatever, at least they make a claim on their website that they are "ALWAYS ON TIME"... Hahahahaha, surprise! Joke's on us! 4:45 and they STILL hadn't arrived, and we had been all ready and waiting for them since noon. My husband had even taken the whole afternoon off from work to be there to meet with the technician. It just got worse from there... The receptionist when we called to find out what was going on wasn't even apologetic, she kept saying "we're short staffed right now" as though that was supposed to excuse everything, as if they weren't a business that had made a promise to a client that they failed to fulfill, as if we should be apologizing for being annoyed that they were so late. She was really unbelievably unprofessional. The technician spent the whole time on his phone either calling who knows who or "looking things up"... He got our heater going again after two hours... We paid a ton for the delightful experience... And then it stopped working again the next day. Get 2 star because Maitz did return my payment, but would not use or recommend. Central air blowing warm air, called and "Audie" showed up on time 6/7. Came in, he seemed "sleepy". Looked up at ceiling opening in closet to crawl space and says "this is not that large". I say no but in the last 15 yrs company's have gone up there for maintenance and 5 yrs ago a new central air. He brought up ladder knocked down baby gate. Takes pictures tells me the duct came off of AC (similar to back of dryer). Then says you need floor so I can have access to repair! Price $1,120! No way if you can't do it for what ever your reason get someone else in your company! I'm not getting a floor so you can do a 10 min job! I called a family member (out of state) who does AC and sent pics who verified the job. Called Maitz of course no one to talk to!! the customer service sent emails to Maitz rep. Sandy called me back Friday unable to answer, played phone tag. Had another company come in on Saturday 6/10 and it was a 10 minute job. AC was fixed no floor didn't even use planks! Finally got in touch with the customer service, and they returned the money and Maitz had no idea why this technician "Audie" even said anything about a floor because they don't install floors! they don't know where he got the quote and it was on their billing paperwork! So I would never use them. Update: Steve There was no invoice number but I spoke with several people in customer service who have everything documented. I have been dealing with Maitz for several years and so have my neighbors. The only way I received a phone call back a few months ago, was to write a bad review. So here I am again. They have really gone down hill after Horizon took over. I thought we resolved my issue and they were to waive the service fee for a year to come out; now they are stating that is only for heating and cooling. I know what I heard on the phone; for all the troubles, they were going to waive the service fee for everything. I called on Wednesday Aug 17, 2022, almost 24 hours ago and they told me no, I would still need to pay for the service fee for any plumbing. I requested the customer service person that read through all my numerous phone calls, to call me. Clearly she / they are in no hurry to call me. I may have a plumbing emergency. read more

I received a call back later that same day telling me they needed to cancel that appointment and schedule one for over a week later. Here I am home all day today waiting for my 10am-2pm appointment. I missed 2 phone calls from them around 9:30am because I couldn't didn't hear the phone ring. I called them back shortly after 10am only to be told they had cancelled my appointment because I didn't answer to confirm the appointment that had been confirmed via text message the day before. Exceptionally bad company with outrageous price gouging and poor customer service. Stay away from this company. I smelled gas when I got home from work on 3/30/22 so I called UGI to investigate. They came and determined it was the gas boiler having a venting issue so it was turned off and tagged. I called Maitz at 7pm and was put on hold several times until around 745pm and was told there was no one available anymore today and scheduled me an appointment the next day. The temp that night was in the 30's. I was quoted an $89 fee to come out and look at it and a "fuel service charge" of $20. I asked about that charge and they said because the price of gas is so high they "have to do something for their guys". When Audie and his trainee got here they went to take a look and came back upstairs and they had me sign a quote to look at it for $270 -- which broke down to $89 dispatch fee, $20 fuel surcharge and a $161 troubleshooting fee. I agreed because essentially i was worried about the gas smell and had no heat. My gas boiler is 7 years old (installed and serviced by Maitz). I agreed but told them I was going to complain to the company about the hidden fees. They worked on it and said they fixed the immediate problem for now by caulking up a small hole in a PVC exhaust pipe (A HOLE WHICH THEY CREATED IN 2021 AND ENDED UP PUTTING A PIECE OF TAPE OVER IT- I KID YOU NOT- I'LL POST A PICTURE). Then they proceeded to give me three options: Option A $270 total for the dispatch fee, fuel surcharge and diagnosis fee (no charge for the caulk- Thank God!). Option B $9086.00 which includes replacing the HEAT EXCHANGER for 6188.00 (WHICH BY THE WAY IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY- but I understand is expensive to do) and $2628 to replace the EXPANSION TANK AND VALVE (which they already replaced in 2019 for $239). Also Audie didn't think this was a good idea (option B) because the rest of the boiler and parts would still be OLD (it is only 7 years old) and also "IT MIGHT TAKE A YEAR TO GET THE PARTS YOU NEED". Option C $270 (same as Option A) but with a FREE price quote on putting in a new system (LOL). I called to complain about the "upfront honest pricing" mentioned on their website and specifically asked about what the dispatch fee covers vs the troubleshooting fee. The CSR said the dispatch fee included the price of gas but this is a temporary measure because they don't want to raise their prices (LOL)!  I asked Audie when they pulled up in a company truck if they make them buy their own gas- he laughed and said no. I think their pricing is very deceptive to essentially quote $109 to come out and then spring a $161 troubleshooting fee on top of that. They take advantage of people when they are in need of immediate help and I would guess that the service techs work on commission trying to talk you into expensive whole system replacement. I did call the office as soon as the techs left to complain about the hidden fees and was told that some one will get back to me in 3-4 business days. In all honesty, I didn't expect a call back but they surprised me by calling me the next day and offering a one time COURTESY refund for the diagnostic fee and the fuel surcharge. I appreciated that they tried to make it right, however i don't appreciate the shady pricing in the first place. I'm switching companies now. read more

Racist company! I manage rental properties in downtown Allentown. I do most of my service work myself. However, I had to travel away on business and one of my properties developed a water leak. A water leak is something that needs to be addressed right away. I called Maitz and scheduled an appointment. Because the technician could not get there until later in the afternoon he did not arrive until 4:00 PM. The technician had to park about a block away and because there were people outside playing music, he was afraid for his safety. He claims they were doing drugs. I know the neighborhood that was not the case. He refused to do the work and his company backed him up. This was a situation where a white technician was afraid of people of color for no reason. Made the mistake of having Maitz quote a new propane boiler to replace a system making heat for radiant floor and baseboard. They finally got a guy out to quote a price after a few weeks and never delivered or sent us a copy. Email or otherwise. From that point it took 2+ months to have them come back to install it but ironically and humorously they called me twice to ask how our new system was working! They hadn't installed it yet and their own office didn't know that? Something's amiss maybe? Once the real guys showed up to do the work they told me I needed new regulators on our propane storage tanks. I didn't quite understand why or frankly believe them at this point ( maybe I had trust issues with this relationship?) so I had our regular fuel service guys out only to discover the regulators were fine but the tanks we owned had expired and required replacing. Who'd have thought? Ultimately the system got installed in sub freezing weather finally ( they were originally contracted in mid October) and does work but frankly the chasing and calling and being asked to comment on a job not yet started makes me wonder who the heck's in charge. If you want my honest opinion in the Allentown Reading area call Elite Fuel Service. There is nothing they can't fix install or repair when it comes to heating systems. I'd say I have buyers remorse but it's actually way worse than that. They're expensive, they overcharged and under delivered in our experience. Stay away. read more

Shady and not to be trusted. The only and if even positive input is that they came the same day, but they do that so they can take your money. Tech spent a whole day and had to come back another day because they could not figure out the problem. They changed wires which cost $250, still it was not working. Another tech had to come to tell us that it's the compressor and that due to underlying issues we were better of to get a whole new system. Paid for the so called work without resolving issue, told us that I saved $600+ for what? For wasting my day and $350+ gone down the drain. Also they charged $100 to replace the humidifier replacement pad when it is $20 online. They overcharge and take advantage of people in need. Absolutely appalled and horrified by my experience. Always willing to give anyone a chance, but listen to the bad reviews. They aren't lying. Very evasive when answering questions about the warranty. They quoted us from $14-16k to replace everything by an advisor. They spoke a lot of how trustworthy and reliable they are. It didn't feel right. Got another opinion, they diagnosed in less than an hour. Found the warranty on the heat pump and quoted us a fair price for a new compressor without having to replace the whole system. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I needed my main line flushed out. I called and was told $89. I thought I must have misunderstood because it usually costs $300-400 to flush a main line. I called a second time and they confirmed that was the cost of the service, not for a service call, and that there is no charge for that kind of service. The technician came. I explained the issue. He said he needed to lift the toilet and the cost to lift the toilet is $355. I changed and replaced the toilets myself and could have done this myself for free, but I thought he was going to do more work than he did. I explained that the gasket underneath was broken and part of the PVC pipe. There was a replacement fix over the broken gasket. He told me he would repair it. All he did was slap another wax ring on. No pipe was actually repaired. He told me that the pipes in my basement weren't pitched correctly and that's why I am having this issue with the main line clogging. For another $246, he told me he could fix that. He literally cut 1/4 in off the pipe out and put a brace on the pipe. It took 10 minutes. Low and behold, this did not fix anything. Three weeks later to the day, I flushed my toilet and had sewage in my shower again. They sent a new technician. He told me that the last guy did poor work. When he cut the pipe and lowered the one side, the other side seesawed up and caused all of the pipes to back pitch. He gave me three different quotes to "fix" the issue, ranging from replacing all of the plumbing to putting in another, bigger air vent. The quotes were anywhere from $7k-2k. I thought this didn't sound right. I called the previous owners of the house. They said in 20 years, they never had this issue. The house is only 20 years old, so really everything shouldn't need an overhaul and the pipes couldn't be the real issue. Not even two hours after they left the SECOND time, things were backing up. I called in some family friends. After hours of looking at everything, it seemed like the issue was a clogged air vent. At this point, I called Maitz and asked for a refund. They said they couldn't do that and needed to make a THIRD trip. I explained that I felt that the air vent that vents to the roof is clogged. I live in a one story house. I told them I don't own a ladder. The manager, Ken, assured me that they would be there at 4:15 pm to complete the job (for a third time). They arrived over an hour after 4:15 pm. They did not have a ladder to get on the roof, not even a six foot ladder. I told them what I felt was wrong, Freddy was arguing with me that the pipe was not an air vent so it couldn't be clogged because it's not a vent. He called a technician in from the car and asked "what is this pipe," the second guy replies, "an air vent." Since they don't have the equipment, they wanted to go in my attic, cut the pipe from there, and do more guesswork. I said you did not bring the right equipment, we are not cutting anymore pipes, call Ken and tell him I want my $1400 back. I learned that the van isn't even big enough for a ladder, nor do managers work after 4:30 pm. He had no one to contact. The people they send out to your house are also not actual plumbers. They are "apprentices" and it is unclear of their qualifications. You think you are hiring a licensed plumber, but that is not who arrives. As Ken told me, it is perfectly legal because they are operating under the supervisor of a licensed plumber. I'm not sure how that is possible though as no one is able to be reached after 4:30 pm. They left and said they would need to come back a forth time. I said, I expect a phone call and a full refund. The manager emailed me the next day to say that they were working to decide how much of a refund I would be getting. I filed fraud charges with my credit card as the work wasn't completed. My credit card handled it from there and I got a full refund. read more

The tech person that I spoke to said, absolutely and we proceeded to schedule the appointment. My appointment timeframe was set for between 10am to 2pm. So they then showed up at 2pm just to tell me that lighting a pilot light on a gas fireplace is something they do not handle. What a waste of my time. The answer that I got was well the tech people who answer the phone don't really know what we do and that there is no good communication within the company and the people who answer the phone and schedule appointments. I called Maitz to come and give me a price to fix a broken sewer line. They never said anything about a service charge for an estimate. My sewer company had already looked for the break in the line with a camera and told me exactly where the break in the line was. Maitz told me that they wouldn't do the job unless they ran a camera in the line first. They wanted $853.00 for running the camera. I told them it had already been done but they didn't care. I asked how much the repair would cost and was told they wouldn't know till the camera work was done first. I told them to forget it. They then told me there was a $40.00 service charge. I contacted Maitz to help diagnosis and fix my furnace that wouldn't kick on after summer. There initial service and response was fantastic, arrived same day within an hour on a Sunday. I shared with the technician that I thought it was the induction motor. The tech spent two hours evaluating the heating system to come to the same conclusion. I asked them for an estimate which included a like for like replacement of the induction motor which was still made so no significant changes were required. They quoted me $2,350 which was after a $750 discount to replace the induction motor. I declined purchased the induction motor online for $315 including the new control board and installed it myself in an hour. I am so disappointed that a service provider would try to charge $2,350 for what was no more than a couple hour job not including the initial service fee of $153. Avoid this company at all cost. We scheduled an A/C check up using one of their company coupons. The coupon was for $59. We were told as long the unit didn't need anything it would only be $59. That if a problem was found it would be a service call then for $89. The technician arrived on time and he found nothing wrong with our A/C unit. However he charged us $89. He stated that we were misquoted a price by the office. We called the office and they were supposed to get back to us within 24 to 48 hours. It's been over two weeks and we've heard nothing. Apparently the do not honor their coupons. I don't think $89 was unreasonable for the visit anyway but if you advertise a coupon for $59 you can't turn around and charge $89. The technician was timely and tried to fix a fan motor problem by replacing the capacitor for $400. He reduced the price when it didn't work. He estimated $1700 to replace the motor, twice what another company estimated. It seems the idea was to recommend replacing the system but I can imagine what that would have cost. Had an emergency with my AC. Called about a part I needed on a Sunday. Their reply was "we don't sell parts over the counter" without a service call. But do you have parts, yes. So is this why the call themselves "home services" because they only charge you a fee to come out even when the homeowner knows what the issue is? read more

I called Maitz because I thought I needed a replacement for the faucet on my kitchen sink. An appointment was made for Tuesday, between 12:00 and 4:00 pm. They called me to let me know that the technician was on his way and he arrived at about 1:00 pm. I showed him the faucet, and explained that I had had a new well pump installed a few months ago. He removed the head of the faucet, took it out to his truck and dismantled it. He cleaned a lot of junk out of it, and reinstalled the faucet, which worked perfectly! Had he installed a new faucet, the cost would have been about $1500, but I wound up paying only $138.00! He could have told me that I needed a new faucet, and I wouldn't have known the difference. A/C conks out in the middle of a heatwave on Monday the 2nd. Call my home warranty people, their guy calls Tuesday morning to say they will be out the following Monday. Call a person who did service before. No response. Call Maitz Thursday morning, they send a guy out that afternoon. Several pounds of refrigerant and $600 later, my house is cooling off again. Eric, and his apprentice Jose were outstanding. Very respectful of the property and very knowledgeable and polite. Time to drop the home warranty people and sign up with Maitz long term service!! read more

Horrible interactions with both schedulers and dispatchers as our appointments were not honored for 3 day. When it was we were still left without water because of what seems a rushed job. Customer service then called to notify me that a warranty we were told we had for a water heater both purchased and installed by them would not be honored due to a negative yet accurate review read more

Overall an excellent experience, far exceeded my expectations. Maitz' technicians go above and beyond the immediate task at hand, recognize the importance of value and how hard things are right now for most of us. We had two major repairs done, both times the tech showed up on time, courteous and professional for their area of expertise, worked hard for many hours and successfully repaired and replaced what needed to be done.
