On July 21, 2022, we called Allen Air to come out and check are A/C on June 21, 2022, we were given an estimate from another company for $10,000 for a new unit they could not fix the current unit it needed over $900.00 in freon it was best to get a new unit. Ron, the owner and his coworker Chris, came out to fix my A/C today. They were both professional and friendly. We had a short in our electrical system that messed up the condensor and the thermostat. Put in my inquiries and actually got a reply and phone call that same day on a Sunday evening. I waited, and consulted a dad's friend who stated the whole unit would have to be changed with a bill almost reaching 5 grand. Just had these guys here for the second time in three years. They were honest and chill the first time so when I had an issue with my upstairs AC not really blowing much, I called them again. Well, they went into super detective mode, and good thing! At first it just appeared to be low Freon and a possible leak in the coil. That new coil would've been $3k. Ok. Crap. But then they kept going. The condenser unit it the attic, which has the blower, was fully inspected. And guess what? In 25 years of them working HVAC, they had never seen this, but a piece of insulation from inside the unit had fallen on the intake for the blower and was blocking 70% of air flow! And, the primary drain was clogged so they took care of that. (That doesn't affect performance immediately but can corrode the unit and who wants nasty standing water in their attic?) They were here for two hours and got it done! My AC is like new. We've had problems for awhile now so it's so nice for someone to come in and be thorough and figure out a simple fix. It just took some thinking outside the box. We are holding off on the new coil and just went with a Freon recharge since it doesn't seem to be leaking very fast. But we are enjoying the new life in our system due to their diligence. Thank you Allen Air! read more
