This place was ranked high for Southern Pines so had to give it a try - the barista was super sweet and let me try a bit of the brown butter rosemary syrup before ordering to make sure I enjoyed it and it was incredible! I wish they'd consider selling it so we can make lattes at home as a non-local lol. Only reason it's getting 4 stars out of 5 is because they were pretty much out of all pastries/desserts by 2pm and I was looking forward to ordering some for the drive back. Would stop by again though! read more

I'm going to try to not let my overall dissatisfaction ruin the review. I wanted to like this place. I had visions in my mind of a cozy, French-style interior with soft jazzy music and nice coffee aromas. It was lacking. The shrill of kids playing, the rather featureless inside. No music. The coffee itself didn't do much for me, I could get better at Starbucks. So to say something positive, we didn't have a problem finding a place to sit on a Saturday at noon. It is a great location in So Pines so I think they can be better. I guess if you have kids it is a good place for them. I can't think of anything more positive so I eliminated one of my negative opinions. Giving it a 3/5 seems fair. YMMV. As an aside, I wish we could get a Dutch Bros coffee somewhere here..... read more

Maisonette is one of our favorite spots -- warm, welcoming, and consistently excellent service. The baked goods are a standout; we've loved the curry quiche, scones, croissants, and cookies. Just visited this establishment for the first time this morning and had a business meeting there. I'll start with the good stuff; the selection of coffee drinks was exceptional and what I ordered was a cold brew lavender cloud kind of a thing which was extraordinary! I also had one of the vegan coffee cakes, which was absolutely a five star rating. Delicious and moist and full of flavor. Also packed with fruit! The reason for the three star rating, every mom with a new baby or a toddler - or both! - was in here at the same time and the noise level was deafening! I know they can't pick and choose who comes in, but like me, if you want to meet an adult colleague and discuss something, this is not the place to be. The people sitting next to me l, and around me, had a toddler and an infant and every 15 seconds the child was throwing something down by my feet with the mom and grandma reaching down to pick up this toy 20 to 30 times nonstop. My absolute favorite coffee shop in the area. Cozy welcoming atmosphere, kids play area, plenty of parking and seating, the owner is a gem. They have a wide variety of fresh pastries, desserts, etc daily and it's different every day, so I look forward to trying something new each time. And the coffee is the best.
