A friend and I were in Aberdeen for the day and wanted to find a local coffee shop. This one sounded interesting, so we stopped by. It used to be a gas station, but now has a cute outdoor patio and the exterior has been painted nicely. There are some tables and chairs. Additional seating (maybe 4-5 tables) is available inside. I was a little turned off by the barista not greeting us. She didn't speak until we actually went to order. They have a seasonal drink menu, and I chose the peach cobbler latte. It was just so so...no peach flavor at all, but seemed very "fall-ish" with spice flavors. I'd get something different next time. My friend enjoyed her Hawaiian something or other. Cute local spot, ok drink, and hopefully the barista will be a little cheerier. read more

Cute coffee shop in an old gas station ("high octane" - get it?!?!). I had a yummy latte and my wife an Italian soda with cream, and a couple of baked snacks. Staff was friendly, nice spaces to sit inside and out (though small). There is a lot of chain-store sterility in Aberdeen. Thankfully, High Octane breaks that mold in all the right ways. read more

This coffee shop has a nostalgic vibe set in a 1040's gas station with outdoor and indoor seating options. Mollee is barista awesomeness!! She will assist you with your order if you're not quite sure what you want. Can't go wrong with the extended menu selection. I ordered 3 different drinks to try them out. All had excellent flavor. My go to Iced Americano, no water, with a splash of almond milk. The flavor was amazing. A hot dark chocolate mocha. Love me some dark chocolate. A sugar free vanilla iced latte. Add in a brown sugar scone. Everything was delicious! Just know they also offer beer, wine, tea, and various canned and bottled beverages. Highly recommend! read more

My family and our friends brought our kids to High Octane over the weekend. We all sat at a high top and ordered several drinks and pastries. While the coffee and food were delicious, the service was rude - with the exception of the barista with the nose ring. She was very kind and courteous. However the other barista clearly seemed irritated by us. I realize that lots of children in a small place can be overwhelming but we are paying patrons just as their other customers are. It just doesn't feel good to not feel welcomed. Shame on that barista. read more

Best coffee shop that I've found since living in Nc. I live in Raeford which is about a 25 min drive, yet I find myself heading here all the time over the closer shops in Fayetteville. The ladies there are always super kind and helpful. I love the little gifts they have to shop from. There's one candle in particular called tan lines, I've bought twice now. I love coffee shops in this area of North Carolina. There's something special about the small town atmosphere and bring surrounded by Pines. A friend and I visited Aberdeen for a cross country meet, and while waiting for the runners to arrive, we found High Octane. Delicious coffee. Not too sweet, and the roast of the bean had a good, subtle flavor for a very smooth taste. We both got lattes and we're beyond satisfied. The price was also excellent, with our total only coming up to $8. It left room for a decent tip to a friendly barista who even did some cool latte art. I would definitely recommend to a friend. I'm riding a bike to every coffee shop in America, so parts of my review will reflect that perspective! Firstly, it is in the downtown area which as a bicyclist is my favorite kind of coffee stop. Easy to bike to and I enjoy looking around at old buildings and looking for murals. I enjoyed the feel of small town America here. It has outdoor seating, which is also a plus, as I like to be outdoors as much as possible and watch the world go by. Barista was very friendly and talkative, which for a traveler is awesome. It's good when locals like to talk The shop itself is an old service station and it's redone extremely well. Train tracks go right beside the shop and you can literally watch the train come straight at you then veer off. It's pretty cool and definitely unique. It appears lot of time and thought has gone into this place, and it shows. I enjoyed looking around at all the details. Came to High Octane as part of a "Pilate & Latte" event we found on Eventbrite. We joined a pilates class on the nearby grassy field and then headed to High Octane for our 'Latte'. I actually ordered a cappuccino and it was really good coffee. The shop is super cute and set into an old gas station. I loved how they used it's previous life to determine the modern yet industrial decor. Staff was pretty friendly and they even have small gift shop items and hand made fare for sale. Absolutely not. It's a cute shop and super cute for Instagram. The parking lot is odd. Especially if you have a low car, I scraped my car. We got "helped"by a young teen with glasses. She seemed to lack social skills. She didn't really help us figure out anything and I told her that we've never been to High Octane before. I wanted an iced tea of some sort with 2 pumps of strawberry. I'm an experienced barista and I feel like this is not an ideal coffee shop way of making an iced tea. She basically told me to pick out a tea bag from a container, she put the tea bag in ice water and put two pumps of strawberry syrup in the ice water. That could of been my fault expecting something else. I got macaroons along with my order and a pack of beef jerky. I still paid despite everything. It was a rough experience. Ultimately I should of just walked out of the coffee shop with the initial customer service. It was overall a really bad experience all around. I think photos would be cute for this place. I didn't give their coffee/espresso a fair chance. I wasn't in the mood for coffee. It was unusual for sure. read more

The location is near the railroad tracks, so it's fun to come with kids as well (there's a railroad you can go into near the station). Aberdeen North Carolina is rapidly developing into a great downtown to visit. Great food destinations, a local brewery, music, shopping - and High Octane! While primarily a coffee shop (and a good one), High Octane is now serving beer and wine in the late afternoon/early evening. Drinks can be accompanied by a selection of nicely prepared light meals. Best espresso in the area. The barista really knew his stuff and even got my traditional macchiato correct. Everyone else thinks a macchiato something with lots of caramel! In what is otherwise a coffee wasteland, this place knows what they're doing. I'm used to the coffee culture in Raleigh and the espresso shots I've had here are comfortably on par with those standards. These folks are legitimately good and I'll be making them a routine stop when I'm visiting family in Southern Pines. :) read more
