My brother is a chef-in-training with a focus on baking. When he visits us from Hawaii, he will frequent different patisseries, and was excited to learn of Maison La Jolie, Redlands' newest French bakery. We visited in a Saturday morning after the kid's swimming lesson. Maison La Jolie is a cute, corner bakery in the Redlands Public Market. After entering the glass doors, one is greeted with shelves filled with treats and pastries. My brother wanted to try the quiche, but they were sold out. He went with the almond croissant which is how he judges all French bakeries. The rest of us ordered the croque monsieur (Parisian ham, becamel sauce, melted gruyere swiss cheese on white bread), St. Tropez (prosciutto, brie cheese, mixed greens, onions, fig jam, olive oil, herbs de Provence, La Monaco (prosciutto, Swiss cheese, mixed greens, tomato, onion, herbs de Provence, and olive oil), French onion soup, tiramisu, mango pastry, and pear tart. My brother was greatly impressed with the almond croissant, honing in on the laminated dough and the frangipane--a rich, nutty, and smooth almond cream. This prompted him to talk with the owner and baker, and he shared that in baking, "you have to be a little bit crazy. I use French butter and extra ingredients!" All the pastries were expertly made and were indulgent. Both the hot and cold sandwiches highlighted the meats and cheeses striking a balance with the arugula greens. Even the kids enjoyed the greens. The French onion soup was the best we have ever tasted; a delightful bowl of rich onion beef broth, toasted baguette with melted gruyere cheese. Amazing family owned Boulangerie . We've been visiting since day one, and never been disappointed. La Monaco is my favorite sandwich, but you can't go wrong with the Jambon Beurre or Poulet Pesto either. The Patisserie offerings have continued to grow with time, the latest treat was the Rocher. I actually found this place by accident. I was planning to grab a coffee, but when I walked in I realized a new restaurant had taken over the space. I'm glad it did. The display case was full of fresh pastries and baked goods that looked incredible, but I was in the mood for something more filling, so I ordered the #12 Poulet Pesto. It was absolutely delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly, the chicken was tender, and the pesto and creamy sauce brought everything together. They also served it with a side of what I think was a garlic aioli, and it was so good I ended up dipping every bite into it. The two employees working were genuinely friendly and attentive. I believe one of them may have been the owner, and you could tell they really cared about the customer experience. Started off with a normal butter croissant, and i'll say it's really great! Buttery flavor, soft on the inside, and flaky/crispy on the outside. The chocolate croissant was also great, with similar textures. The service was efficient and the prices were reasonable. We couldn't help ourselves, but to continue our food adventure with more desserts at Redlands Public Market (RPM) on Memorial Weekend 2026. Maison La Jolie (MLJ) was our #7 stop succeeding after #1 Shrimp Corner, #2 Yugo Shokunin, #3 Beyond Biryani, #4 Hen & Heifer, #5 Take Ur Seat Lite, and #6 Tsoko Cafe. MLJ was only a couple weeks old at RPM per the nice gentleman (I'm assuming he's the pastry chef) behind the glass of beautifully display of French pastries. They also sell sandwiches and drinks. We took a quick glance at all the pastries before deciding. I saw the Parisian Vanilla Flan for $8 and my youngest daughter saw the Mille Feuille for $9. Yes, prices were on the higher end, but it's a whole lot cheaper than flying to France to buy the French pastries. They came to us in Redlands so why not treat ourselves. Young lady who took our order was pleasant and nice. Vanilla flan was a huge slice. Texture was a bit denser than expected. I didn't find it sweet at all really. What I love most about it was the flaky crust... it was super yummy! Mille Feuille in French means "thousand leaves". It came with layers of crisp golden flaky puff pastry and rich pastry cream in between them. It had the perfect sweetness. An excellent choice! My daughter gave it a thumbs up. She does have an eye for sweets. For the French pastry connoisseur, MLJ is meant for you. Drop on by and support this new biz. We'll stop by again during our next RPM visit. Came on opening day and I was their first customer! The owners were so nice and you can tell we're very proud of the quality of their pastries. You can tell right away with their croissants that they use real French butter and flour. The texture is buttery and flaky. There pralines are such a treat! It has a great crunchy texture without sticking to your teeth. I can probably polish a bag by myself. I also sampled their French Madelines. The texture and sweetness is just right. Run, don't walk, to this amazing legitimate French Bakery. Everything looks beautiful in the case and tastes even better than it looks. Saw a social media post about this place so went for lunch. Lunch was generous in portions and thoroughly delicious, so much so that we purchased some pastries to take home to try. These, too, were outstanding. Service was extra friendly and informative. Inland Empire was in dire need of exactly what Maison La Jolie is artfully and tastefully creating for us. It is clear that quality of their offerings is important to them, and the absolute best ingredients are being utilized. Tastebuds don't lie when it comes to real butter, superior olive oils, etc. I will note that parking is not the most convenient for Redlands Public Market, where Maison La Jolie is housed with other eateries, and worry that this will negatively affect their bottom line. The lady and gentleman running it were so nice and friendly. It has been a few months since this wonderful delicious place opened. I've tried many of their pastries and they are out of this world. Best quiche I've had in my life. I have to limit myself to once a week because I have no self-control when I go there I just buy everything. The owners are delightful and amazing chefs the people who take your order and wait on you are kind and wonderful and helpful. The owner, and chief pâtissier, introduced himself while we were deciding and assured us that he imported all his baking ingredients - flour, butter, milk, butter he didn't have to tell me. Le Pâtissier noted that, while most pâtissiers only put one bar of chocolate in their pain au chocolat, he makes his with 3. Now, I always judge a patisserie/boulangerie by its viennoiseries : épreuve réussie! Full marks! This chocolatine was better than most I ever had in France - or anywhere ! Immaculate, uncountable layers of laminated pastry, still delicious even in the afternoon. I wanted to cry. But it didn't eclipse the sandwiches on perfectly baked baguettes. I had The Raclette with delicious ham and cheese. My spouse ordered a full baguette (we traded halves) with prosciutto, Brie, lightly dressed greens, and fig jam. So, the pastries: we had to take a walk, get coffee before we could cram more sugar. I was on pins and needles the whole time. Oh and these were worth the wait!!! I don't like cake - because it's rarely like THIS. The sponge of this tarte tropézienne might as well have been a cloud on my tongue ! The custard had the lightest taste of orange flour syrup. So creamy. The crust was just dark enough. The whole combo of cream, sponge and crust... Exquis ! Oh but the mille feuilles, might as well rename his " mille délices " ! Flaky pastry crust, rich crème pâtissière, immaculate chocolate pattern on top. Such a generous piece too - enough for two. The place is even decorated like the classic streetside café. After being disappointed with dinner at the public market, we stumbled into Maison la Jolie. I have spent a lot of time in France and Switzerland and I have to say this place is great. The owner Olivier anti his staff really knows how to treat his customers. Everything looks so incredible and the prices seemed very reasonable. We bought about six different things last night and on our way up the mountain to big Bear we munch on an eclair, some kind of brioche cake, which is amazing, and some French baguette. This morning we just had a pan chocolat add it too is amazing. We did get some bacon quiche, which we cannot wait to try tonight for dinner. I had an amazing chocolate noisette-it was a delicious chocolate ganache top layer, a smooth chocolate mousse with a hint of hazelnut flavor interior, on a base of flakey puff pastry with pistachios.
