I used to be a baker for many years and I'm hardly impressed with places because I either taste the cheap lack of quality ingredients or the lack of fresh ones. This place has neither. I taste all the flavors, quality ingredients and fresh ones too. First time here! Came on a Sunday morning around 8am and there were only a couple people in front of me. Super cute vibe inside. The staff was really friendly. I got the apple crisp donut and the maple bourbon old fashioned. The apple donut had great flavor, with chunks of apple inside. The maple donut was just okay -- I didn't taste any maple notes, but it was moist and had good vanilla flavor. One 2-seater table inside, or bar seating, so prepare to take your donuts to go. I'm a self-proclaimed Pecan Pie Princess and Fritter Fanatic, so when Deux released their Fall menu I immediately had to stop in. The staff is friendly and there wasn't too bad of a line on a rainy morning. For paying nearly $17 for 2 donuts I'd expect to at least want to finish them, but I was completely disappointed with these. Chocolate Pecan Pie: 2.75/5 The vanilla bean whip topping is some of the best whipped cream I have ever had. The pecan pie filling is a bit too liquidy for my liking and doesn't give you the richness that I'm looking for from a pecan pie filling. The chocolate ganache tastes almost exactly like Pillsbury chocolate frosting, just with a smoother texture. The donut itself was spongy and chewy. I felt like i was chewing the dough for ages. A very chocolate forward donut. Plum Fritter: 1.5/5 I don't know if it's the ingredients, the temperature of the fryer, or what, but whenever I see a fritter out they consistently look burnt. This fritter in particular was completely lackluster. I was expecting crispy, crunchy edges with a soft and spongy center but the entire fritter was soft and mushy, and did not at all have the bite that a fritter should. The texture is more like a concha, if I'm completely honest. There was no sign of plum, aside from the ribbons of the pink throughout the dough. I don't know if they use actually plum chunks the way a typical apple fritter uses apple chunks, or if they use a plum jam ribboned through the dough, but either way I was entirely disappointed by this fritter. read more

Wow wow wow! Talk about best donuts ever! My husband and I tried deaux for the first time a few weeks ago and those donuts have been living in my head rent-free since then. They were flaky, perfectly sweet, and such fun flavors! We were lucky enough that the pastrami sandwich had not sold out for the day so we shared a sandwich and regretted not getting one each. The staff here is always so friendly and welcoming. It feels like walking into your cousin's house on a Saturday morning and getting fed the most amazing breakfast and cafecito you could ask for. There was really only one employee helping at the front but it was near closing and just us ordering - with 3 others who were already there when we arrived. I do not get her name but she was friendly, sweet and informative about what they currently had in stock. It's small on the inside but there is some seating. It was hot inside though and not comfortable - it was hot outside but felt better due to the breeze at least. I hope it's not like that everyday for the employees' sake. We ordered the Omelette, Blueberry Basil & PB&J. I did enjoy the Omelette - it comes with a thin layer of chipotle aioli but they also give you a side if you want more. For me not being a big spicy person, but liking some, what it was made with was perfect. The other two were meh but honestly, we are more simple donut people. As a private chef, listening to Yelp is risky, what someone says is good is usually generic garbage, and what someone says is bad is usually expecting generic garbage. Nothing about Deaux is a generic, this place is a Gem. I ordered the Olive Oil Salt, Protein Donut and a couple of minis. The flavors are delicious, well balanced and the store is gorgeous, minimalist and clean. Music was a little loud for 630am but whatever gets the staff motivated and moving I'm for it. Staff was plesant, patient and upselling. My tiniest critique was that the dough was a little spongy. Of all the things that have to go right on the daily for a business, for this the be the error is the best news. This is such an easy fix. It seemed like to me that the dough was either not proofed long enough or over-mixed, or if it's regularly this way possibly the recipe has too much egg. Or maybe this their signature! I'm back! I told you I would be. Based on the workers recommendation from last time I came in a Sunday morning around 8:30 am and there was a handful of donuts to choose from and I even saw them making more! I told you I wanted to try the banana one and I finally got to try it but it was a different type of donut this time regardless I'm glad I had a variety to choose from. And the variety was all beautiful designed, decorated, and presented. I got a banana bread fritter and blueberry cheesecake donut. The banana bread was chewy and thick took a while to chew but it was good and not too sweet. The blueberry cheesecake didn't taste anything like cheesecake but the blueberry was fresh tasting and tarty sour. Their sweet whip cream on it was delicious. Service was nice and fast. Still a very pretty penny and price to pay for donuts but they are gourmet donuts so try if you're in the area and get there early so you have a good selection to choose from. read more

I was excited to try the pear fritter with ginger but that was a seasonal item. I was also excited to try the sprinkle donut, that was also a seasonal item. I was a bit disappointed. I went with an olive oil butter donut, chocolate raspberry, orange blossom (not my usual flavor), a regular glaze, and chocolate sprinkle. They looked delicious but they did not hit. They had to much flavor on the outside but it wasn't a unique taste. The dough was not soft, but rather dry for a regular and cake texture donut. I taste tested each of them and did not have a favorite.. I'm embarrassed to admit I threw them away the next day. Great donut or should I say deauxnut shop in downtown Redlands. The owner has put so much effort into creating a really great brand with attention to detail and listening to what customers want. He is very personable and takes pride in recognizing regular customers. The shop itself is a great location and atmosphere. Always clean and well maintained. The head baker here is awesome, she knows how to create not only very tasty flavor combos, but great looking donuts. They rotate the menu very regularly and have both sweet and savory donuts. I especially appreciate that they always have a gluten free choice available. They change their gluten free flavor every month, which allows you to sample nearly every donut they are offering. They are also working on a gf donut for the savory donuts which I am excited for. The baker herself is gf, so I am comforted knowing she takes care to safely prepare the gf donuts. I decided to write a review after going here for a long while due to the above and beyond customer service. I went in 2 days in a row looking to grab a gf donut, but they were out. The donuts tend to sell out fast due to how popular they are. The second day I mentioned to the baker that I had missed out again. I was here at Deaux once before, but due to them selling out and closing shop after sellout, I didn't get a chance see their donuts nor step inside their shop at that time. Well, I was nearby recently and decided to give them a chance to WOW me with their famous savory and sweet gourmet donuts. I call them gourmet donuts because each donut costs $4.75 or up. That's one pricey donut. Is it worth it? You'll have to be the judge of that. Fyi, if you get half or full dozen, you may save a few dollars. I got 1 dozen plus 2 sets of the same 3 donuts. They come in pretty green boxes... I would have preferred my donuts didn't touch one another. The topping of each donut touched the bottom of the neighboring donut... it wasn't that pretty for photography. I shared the donuts with my dear Yelpie friend and her family... hope you enjoyed my friend. They have a few savory donuts such as omellete, pastrami, and bacon date goat cheese. They ran out of pastrami when I was here and that's okay because I don't eat beef anyway. Got the omellete which was really good... I like the texture of the bread... it had lots of egg filling. I didn't get the bacon date goat cheese one. Maybe they will make a veggie donut one day. As for the sweet donuts, I was slightly disappointed. They were very thick and dense. Good size donuts though. If I had to choose my top 3, it would be the Old Fashioned (it had a nice crunch), Orange Blossom (love the zesty flavor), and Vanilla Bean (just simple, but density could be lightened). My youngest daughter liked the Seasonal that had dates in it. My eldest daughter said the donuts were just okay. Eleven was available to choose from... got 9 and 2 didn't make it in my boxes. Prices are a bit pricey IMHO. Ambiance was cute and cozy. We always like to try new places that we see on social media and are always on the quest for the best donut. This wasn't it. We ordered with door dash to make sure that we didn't have to wait too long since we heard that that the place can get busy at times, especially during weekends. I ordered the maple breakfast donut which on door dash had all the specific ingredients called out but lacked to mention that the maple stood for maple sausage. I am a vegetarian and took a big bite and was thoroughly surprised and dare say disgusted to have bitten into sausage. I brought it back and they told me that it was maple sausage and I had to buy a new donut. Luckily door dash takes care of you but the store didn't really care. We bought several other donuts. My wife liked them, where to me they were way too yeasty. Give it a try for yourself but this one is not for me!
