We splurged on Mission Kai for a special occasion, ordered several premium upgrades, and spent over $700 for two adults and two children. Unfortunately, no part of the meal felt worthy of a special occasion, other than the 5 mins of magic & the presentation but that's it. Food was 3/10 Sadly, as foodies the meal did not justify the experience . Nearly every dish was overly salty, the medium steaks was overcooked, and the lobster was so chewy that three of the four lobster tails were left untouched. Horrifically the tried to serve us the wrong steak thinking we didn't know what filet looks like? Service 2/10 The service was disappointing. Our server seemed overwhelmed and even commented that we were asking too many questions, making us feel like an inconvenience. Was hard to find to her refills & I had to flag her down to bring and also pay our check. Dishonesty What concerned us most was being served the wrong cut of meat after paying extra for the filet and lobster upgrade. The chef was cooking us served skirt steak instead of filet. When I questioned it, the chef didn't apologize Instead, he told us he had "done us a favor" by giving us a bigger cut of meat" with attitude! substituting a different, less expensive cut without discussing it with us--after we had ordered an upgrade--was unacceptable. Even more disappointing, no manager ever came to our table to address the situation. My son also specifically requested plain fried rice with no vegetables, yet the chef cooked jf with vegetables. When he brought it to their attention, we were essentially told it had already been made and too bad he had to way which he didn't Overall 2/10 For a restaurant at this price point, we expected exceptional food, service, and attention to detail. Instead, we left disappointed, with our kids still hungry, and wishing we had celebrated at Yamato instead.

Came here for one of my girlfriend's bach & we had such high expectations. The vibes were definitely there, it was very dim lit & relaxing. Each of us (6 in total) got the teppenyaki dinner ($110 per person). Our chef was really nice & kept some small talk going. When we got the miso soup, im gonna be real, it did not taste like miso soup. It tasted more like a squash soup with a thicker consistency but still good so whatevs. Onto the next course, we got shrimp & fried rice. Of course everything was getting cooked in front of us with the fire show & they even sprinkle little flowers on top of our food... Until I saw a BUG crawling on top of my fried rice when i was inspecting the flowers. We told the chef who also saw it with his own eyes. & one of our friends told the manager who passed by. At this time, we already managed to fling the bug/caterpillar off the table cause why would i keep that (& we all stopped eating our fried rice & lowkey lost our appetites!). The manager took my bowl & came back a few minutes & told me straight up that they looked through the rice and they didnt find a bug in there (and idk if it was just me but it kinda sounded like he thought i was lying). I explained that we all saw it, including the chef!! im gonna be honest it was hard to enjoy the rest of the courses after seeing the bug + the managers comment. They ended up taking $100 off the bill at the end so i guess it kinda made up for it.

I was so excited to go and celebrate my 51st birthday looked at some TikTok and social media. It made me to go there however I requested well done steak. It was literally bloody and did not taste good at all even the other guest were looking at it and were shaking their heads. I was there with my entire family and was very disappointed. A manager came and told me that he's been doing it for 26 years because I told him I was embarrassed to tell the chef, but I did not like the approach of the manager was not professional. Also, he only gave me a small discount instead of removing the entire bill and made my birthday the way it should've been on the way home I started to have stomach ache and wasn't feeling good. I think I deserve a full credit and not just a small discount for ruining my beautiful night, even the other people on the table looked at my food and they were like shaking their head. Hope they will make it right, but I don't think I will go back there. The magician was very nice. The cook was a cool guy, but the food not the best quality. Hope they can fix that situation.

We went for dinela and it was so expensive even with dineLA menu so for price the quality did not match. The burger was okay, the wagyu fried rice slightly burnt and not enough wagyu. Miso soup was some of the best ive had. Overall interactive experience was great but food for that price was underwhelming .

Maison Kasai inside Level 8 is supposed to be an upscale French Japanese teppanyaki experience. Lots going on there! Let's start with the pros: - Good music - Cool magician performance before dinner - Decent sized servings of food - Our teppanyaki chef was excellent and cooked all our food perfectly (Sorry, I wish I remembered her name!!) What needs some work: - Service after getting seated was slow. It took a good long while for a waitress to ask for our drink orders and then get our drinks to us. - I personally did not feel like the price of the dinner was worth it. I didn't feel like the menu was that special. - I know that this spot is supposed to be upscale, but we were looking forward to a little more teppanyaki performance. Where was the onion volcano or the shrimp toss? Or is that outdated now? - Drinks were just OK for the price. I would recommend Maison Kasai for a dinner where you want to entertain people who are more into experience, and not actual foodies.

Maison Kasai; your beet salad is like nothing I've ever had before. Thank you!

I was invited to this restaurant that is inside of Level 8 in DTLA. It's a nice place. It's an experience for sure. It was crowded! It was a Saturday night; after all. Courteous staff greeting. Pleasant servers. Crispy and cold champagne. Stiff cocktails. Overall good food; the beet salad WOW! It did seem a little unorganized all together and all around. First course was a salad and it took almost 30 minutes to come out. I finally asked the server who was a darling: (Dionne) Are you short staffed? She replied; "no we're not short staffed, it's coming." After the salad it all seemed to have fallen into place. A magician came to our table and he was somewhat funny. He definitely made the wait for food seem shorter as he entertained us with his cards. I had a good time. Too crowded for me. Too loud, too. I've never been to a restaurant for dinner this crowded and this loud. My date and I walked next door (literally) to Wanderlust and the live band was good. A Dj came after and was good, too. We had a table but our server came once and never again. Frankly; Wanderlust seemed over capacity. We left early because it was too packed and couldn't get a second round of cocktails at our table. There was a lot of people standing in front of our table and in particular two very tall men in their grey, sweat pants and sweat shirt, sets. Where did the dress code go? It's L. A and it's a Saturday night people! Cmon..... I recommend experiencing Maison Kasai at least once. Again, for me, the beet salad was the MVP of the night. Hope you're all enjoying your summer......

AMAZING experience!! Best hibachi I have ever had. Food was immaculate--loved the wagyu strip steak and the fried rice was delicious. The entertainment is really the show stopper. Had a magician from magic castle do some unreal tricks for us and a fire performer do an incredible show. Very very fun place!

My experience at Maison Kasai Restaurant was okay overall. What I enjoyed the most was the show. The chef was friendly, funny, and entertaining to watch as he cooked the food. The food itself was just okay. The highlight for me was the mushroom dish from the lineup. When you arrive, you have the option to order from the Teppanyaki dinner menu or choose à la carte starters, entrées, and sides to create a more personalized meal. The Teppanyaki dinner includes a seasonal first course, a choice of appetizer and entrée, plus Teppanyaki broccoli and fried rice. For my first course, it was already outlined: spring peas and avocado purée. My appetizer was the Teppanyaki Maitake mushroom and cheese. My entrée was a five-ounce Wagyu cheeseburger. For dessert, I had sorbet. Again, the mushroom was the best part of my meal. I also really enjoyed the show, and our waiter was attentive. The experience takes some time, so if you're in a rush, this may not be the best place. We had a 9:15 p.m. reservation and finished around 11:30 p.m. As for the taste of the food--I liked the rice, although it was a bit salty. The burger wasn't my favorite. The food wasn't the highlight for me; the show definitely was. If I had the chance to come again, I wouldn't order the burger. I'd probably try the salmon or steak instead. Overall it was an ok experience.

The food quality is excellent! The chef can customerine the dish right at your commend. They served very smoothly also we have seen three type of performance. 1. Magic trick 2. Chef fire show 3. Dancer played fire The whole setting of the restaurant are like speak Easy at front and normail restaurant in the room and later you can squeeze in to different theme of the bar in the same floor! You can always get fun at the night!

Service - I would give it 4 out of 5 (messed up our drinks) Food - I would give it 3 out of 5 (small portions for high prices, not worth it) Food presentation was nice. Ambiance - Music playing in background, People are happy for entertainment. (All tables were full on Saturday night)

I came here for a friend's birthday and really enjoyed the service. I believe my server's name was Dion. She was hilarious and made the experience so much fun. The restaurant itself was really pretty, but the set up was a bit funky. The flow of traffic seemed off as it was difficult to move past other tables to get to the bathrooms. I really enjoyed my food. However, I do not think it was worth the price point. I understand small servings, but the creativity behind the dishes did not grab me. I also felt the menu lacked some diversity. I felt almost stuck ordering things I did not necessarily want because I had no other options. Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy what I ate, but I would not be rushing to go back.

Ask the Community - Maison Kasai

Is it an adult only (age of 21 and over) restaurant?

I actually went and took my daughter who is 5 and we had no issues. Hope this helps. After 10pm its 21 and over

Does everyone have to order teppanyaki?

No. It is just more fun when they cook it in front of you. But there's plenty of choices in the menu. Worth the try

    What's the corkage?

$50. Also, in case you come across some bouncers that don't know that you're allowed to bring a bottle, they will try to stop you. Other bouncers know that the restaurant is allowing.

We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.
