Hands down the best place to meet friends in Covington and there are a lot of loud bars to choose from. Mainstrasse Village Pub is not obnoxiously loud. It has two beautifully spaced out pool tables and the vibe is perfect. If you know you know. The staff is amazing. All drinks are reasonably priced. Tons of food to choose from within 100 feet of MVP's front door. I would recommend the Gyros or Goodfellas pizza. Thanks for the good times MVP read more

Went here today. Nice bar. Went in for a drink. Our bartender was nice. We got our beers really quick. As we got there tons of people was leaving. So not many there at bar when we were there. They did have a pool table. The lighting in bar was not a lot. It's more dark in there. read more

Great hamburger! Tried it last week before the Mardi Gras parade. They were very busy but it was a fun atmosphere.

I love dive bars and beautiful Covington,KY has 2 great ones I visited back in June. This was the first visit as we strolled through downtown Covington on a rainy night. We were here on a Tuesday night, and they were busy. We sat at the bar near the front. The bar was half full, and most of the tables were taken. This looks like a small bar at first glance. However, there is a huge back part that looked pretty busy. What I loved about Mainstrausse is the number of beers available. They had one of the largest IPA selections I have ever seen. I think most were local breweries. I had a couple of those. Customer service was pretty much non-existent. This is a locals, neighborhood bar. The bartender just handed us our beers and walked off. We paid and left. Absolutely fine with me. I don't want to be treated in any special kind of way. Just hand me a cold beer, and we're good. Covington is a beautiful little town with friendly people. I'd like to go back at some time and visit Mainstrausse again. read more

Have two pool tables for cheap play, have always been able to get a table on Saturday nights without issue. Drinks are cheap too. Small place, not much seating but a good simple dive vibe. Bartenders are always solid, get you quick. Also have a solid outside patio in the front and back. read more

As a DD I requested a water. I was told, if they gave me a water the rest of my party would be cut off. The bartenders are super disrespectful. Do not waste your time at this establishment. I welcome a call from management. read more

Drinks, specially the Rye was reasonably priced. The bar staff greeted me as soon as I entered and it was great service throughout the evening I was there. The clientele seemed a younger sort and the décor is quaint and gives an old bar feeling. Service was always prompt. Good for a drink or two. read more

We're new to town and stumbled across this place on Saturday night when walking around in Covington! There was no wait, we sat outside and had great service. They are known for their fish and chips so I had the fish sandwich and it was the perfect portion! A nice casual and inexpensive spot in Covington. Great draft beer selection, too. I'll definitely be back for their Bloody Mary bar at brunch. read more

After some members of our entourage were denied entrance to some other establishments along the Mainstrasse (really Covington?) our party settled into the Village Pub latenight and I'm glad we did!! The crowd was well into their buzzes when we arrived in this classic hippie-ish bar. Good tunes, good mix of patrons, cheap drinks. Old school bar with a homey feeling. Don't remember everything, but they were friendly, didn't kick out our drunk friend, and it was a nice mellow capper to a fun night bar crawling around the area! Bravo Mainstrasse! read more

Village Pub is always a four star joint unless there is an acoustic musician dousing my vibe with melancholy (hey, to each their own). With ample billiard space and a pretty killer jukebox, Village Pub maintains its cool without showing off. On the Wednesday night of my most recent visit, grape bombs were on special for $4 (never had one so I had to try, yum). Their bottle beer selection is copious without being intimidating, and every brew I've had tasted is fresh. Village Pub is packed on the weekends, but this isn't the kind place that you have to worry about folks breaking pool sticks over people's heads. Though during Mardi Gras, you might see women doing things for beads that are downright unspeakable. All in a good night in Covington. read more

Bravo! Pool tables, straight sticks, and racks of balls. Easy access to the bar for beers, and I'm a very happy guy. That's all I wanted, and that's all I got! I'm not a regular pool player, but I was having a mood. It helped when the competition "broke" and then I managed to sink six in a row, something I've never done before. This place didn't try to be more than what it is - there wasn't a cloudy overcast of "cool." Stay thirsty my friends, and stop in the Village Pub and grab a beer and a stick. read more

First off, Village Pub gets 5 stars for their beer selection alone. I lived in San Francisco for the last 17 years and can't remember seeing a beer selection more vast as a regular bar would have. And of course, they have Anchor Steam ;) This is a great all around bar. Good drinking bar, pool tables in the back, jukebox, ample seating, located in the dead center of the strip, great bartenders, big sports day, and a good quality crowd that varies. The only downside I've found is that the ventilation isn't good and can get more smokey in there than it should be. We were there on NYE and it was the perfect blend of what we needed. Crowded enough to make it feel exciting but not over crowded that you wanted to leave. read more

One of the better Main Strasse bars. They have interesting beer, a great feel, and usually something crazy on special. Most of the time they keep the music at a decent volume rather than trying to blast your eardrums out. (I know I'm old fashioned, but I like to converse with friends while hanging out.) Ring the Bells! A treasured Dive on Main street. I have only seen a cerveza selection like this at Allyn's Cafe in Cincinnati. Amazing $2 Bells Amber Ale. Service was incredible last night - Kurt is the man! Service was top rate. The place was packed and I never waited more than a few minutes for a refill. It would get five stars; however, I didn't realize the evening was sponsored by Marlboro. Wow - I did see Dee Snyder's twin sister, A hybrid between Snoop Dog and Andre Dawson, and more blinged out tank tops than you can throw a snookie at! Fabulous time had by all. GREAT and I mean GREAT beer selection. Nothing on draft but the bottle selection is the best on Main Street. Staff is friendly and the overall feel of the place is nice and relaxed. Great place to catch a ballgame. The place is covered in Reds memorabilia (best one is a towel reading, "ST. LOUIS SUCKS" with a dead bird on it.) Also, Jager is the house wine here, and the Jager-rator is in constant flow. The live music on Mondays features one of the best Mainstrasse has to offer. Lots of TVs, ample seating, and a great area in the back to shoot pool. The only downside is the small liquor selection. read more

Nestled in the heart of the Mainstrasse bar district, you will find this little, dimly-lit gem, to first appear to be a typical local "dive-ish" joint... However, it's not long until you start to discover all of it's charming qualities. A friendly staff, extensive craft beer selections, and all the daily drink specials definitely make for a great first impression. Then you begin to notice the patron loyalty and you realize you're "where everybody knows your name," which adds to it's charm. In addition, Village Pub, might just be my new favorite place to watch the Bengals game. The energy of all the fans is pretty incredible. Make sure to learn the Bengals fight song because you'll be singing it everytime they get a touchdown. It also doesn't hurt that they offer complimentary food during the games as well. Super friendly crowd with excellent beer specials, quick and helpful service. A little tight around the bar area but not a big deal with such accommodating regulars. Great TVs on multiple channels at bar. Small but cozy and shaded patio was a nice find when I walked all the way into the back area of the bar. I've been to this bar a number of times and have had varied experiences. Most of the time I have not had a problem and have enjoyed having a drink there with the laid back crowd(when I'm with a white person not another black person). However, a few times I've been in there, the bartender spent the entire time staring at me and my group(we were the only black people inside) like they were waiting for us to do something so they could kick us out. read more

its a neat dive bar in Covington! everybody seems to know everybody. most of the bartenders are pretty cool....my VERY FAVORITE bartender is kelly! she has a great personality, very knowledgeable abt making ALL DRINKS.....she also seems to know EVERYBODY that walks thru the door and what they usually drink.....witnessed her have to break up drunken shenanigans between grown men...feels like a 'better' place when she's there.... also, FREE POPCORN!!! read more

I rarely go to mainstraus and when I do I stop at this gem of a bar. It is usually always a good time either if I'm starting out the night or ending it there. Last night it wasn't as busy as it usually is for a friday night which I was stoked about. I had asked the guy bartender to charge my phone for me( it was alsmost dead and I wanted to make sure I had a secure ride home). I know they don't have to accommodate for this but I felt safe with it behind the bar. APARENTLY this caused an issue. It CLEARLY pissed off both bartenders. The man that was bartending was very rude about it. After he had taken it to charge the woman bartender said something about it and I heard her so I ended up telling my friend that it was aparently an issue and he proceeded to verbally attack me(yell at me) and threw my phone back at me. I feel like no matter what is going on the customer comes first. For someone that works in the industry this is a MUST. If me or any of my coworkers were to act and treat a customer like this they would be fired. We cut the night short there because I felt uncomfortable and unable to enjoy myself. I hope this is addressed and he doesn't make anyone else feel that unwelcomed. read more

Worst bartenders in the bar business. They have zero respect for their customers. They'll never see another dime from me. The smoke filled room could easily be fixed with a good air control system but they could care less of the air you breathe. Three times I've had run ins with the bartenders. I tip on EVERY drink I receive and yet they act as though it's a priviledge that they serve me. Go serve yourself in the unemployment lines kids. read more
