Mind you, it's the middle of winter and the country is in the grips of a global pandemic. I called the guys at D&J and my call was answered by a real person, there was no "Press 1 for this...press 2 for that..." I easily scheduled a weekend appointment-even with the threat of winter storms they were willing to keep an eye on the forecast and stressed their flexibility. He quoted me that a typical move like mine would be about 4 hours. I had packed all that I could into moving boxes. With the exception of furniture. Which, they broke apart AND reassembled perfectly in my new place!!! Score! They arrived promptly on a Saturday morning, they practiced masking and social distancing and you could tell the way the team performed seamlessly that these guys knew what they were doing and they treated my possessions with kid gloves. They went above and beyond during this freezing winter move. With one guy on his knees with a hammer chiseling my frozen BBQ grill from the snow bank that encompassed it! They accept cash and check only -I wished I could have paid with my debit card as I seldom use cash now-a-days. But, that said, the crew waited for me to dash to the ATM up the street, so I paid that way. For me, they charged $130.00 an hour. And it was beyond worth it! They spent 3.5 hours between both places, that included disassembling and reassembling my bed and my daughters bed. These guys know what they are doing. They were quick, professional, approachable and treated my furniture like their own!

Because it was close to the end of the month and her rent would be due again if I didn't have everything out in time I didn't have time to make trip after trip on my own between Brewer and Orland where I would be storing her furniture and many of her other belongings even if I could have managed it. A friend called around for me to try to find a company who could accommodate my tight schedule. She found Ron's Moving in the next town over, Holden, and not only could they accommodate my schedule but they were also willing to move the furniture "fully loaded". I didn't have to empty out her two (huge) bureaus, her crammed-full solid oak roll-top desk or any of her other cabinets and chests, etc. And believe me they were all very FULL. That definitely took a load off of my mind as I had been frantically trying to empty and pack up her open shelves, tables and walls containing a lifetime's worth of decorative pieces, collections, art work, books, and other special objects that had been promised to various friends. I hadn't even had time to think about emptying everything that that was going to be moved with the furniture. When I found out I wouldn't have to do that I could have cried. Actually since my only sister had just died I'm pretty sure I did. The morning they were scheduled to do the move three very polite strapping young men arrived right on time and all ready to work. Cody, Chris, and Justin introduced themselves and offered me their condolences and were so very kind and considerate of me the whole time they were there. True to their word they moved each furniture piece without my having to remove anything. Even the armoire that my sister had so full of thick sweaters that when they moved it away from the wall the back started to come off! They took this in stride using a moving blanket and some straps that they had brought with them to make sure the back wouldn't come off after they had tapped the nails back in for me. I'm not kidding when I say these guys were seriously strong! These would have been really heavy pieces even if they had been empty. My sister loved oak furniture and oak is a very dense heavy wood. But they were great with it all. So careful with each piece even as heavy as they were. And much of the time also carrying on a conversation with me. I think they'd noticed how hard this all was for me seeing things go out the door, my sister being gone, at the same time trying to find a home for her now orphaned cat, just all of the stress involved with losing my sister along with the stress of this move. But they were just so kind to me. And before they left they even checked to see if there was anything I needed help with. That was great because there were some very large, framed art prints that were too high up on the wall for me to reach and I was trying to figure out how I was going to get something tall enough to stand on to get them down, afraid I'd drop them while doing so as they were quite heavy. I'd no sooner gotten the words out of my mouth when all three pieces were off the wall and leaned carefully in the corner ready to be picked up by the friend to whom they'd been left. I would highly recommend the crew at Ron's Moving - including Nick in the office whom I'd called to get scheduled and whom I'd called again when they were done so we could take care of my payment. They were all very professional. They were polite and kind and friendly. And helpful. And quick. You could tell that they knew what they were doing and worked well as a team. When they said they were finished I couldn't believe all that they had done in the amount of time they were there. Even while talking with me they were still doing what they'd come there to do and didn't miss a beat. Each of them had a part in making this very stressful, very sad time easier for me. At some point someone even made me laugh. I call that a win! Hire these guys. They're worth it and then some!

The reason I didn't answer was he wrote down the wrong #. I wanted to follow him to the location where an old washing machine was being taken to find out what I could get for the metal. he didn't want to do that. There was a stationary bike I wanted taken upstairs and one mover thought he was funny and said they wouldn't do it but they did. I certainly wouldn't call this outfit "sweet."

My husband and I recently went through an unexpected and stressful move, and I cannot express enough how grateful we are that we hired Gordon's. From the very beginning, when Gordon came to do an estimate, he was so understanding and kind, all the way through to the last day when they completed our move, everything was done with exceptional service, professionalism, kindness, courtesy, and genuine care. This is one of those rare companies that truly cares about you, wants to make your life easier, and is dedicated to providing excellent service. Gordon and Cathy are absolutely wonderful people who clearly love what they do, are very good at it, and are exactly who you want running a company. And their team... WOW! The group of young men on their team are AMAZING! On top of being incredibly hardworking, they were the nicest individuals. We never heard them complain once despite working very long days (and in the heat, no less!), they were so sweet with our toddler, asked questions to ensure that everything was packed & moved exactly how/where we wanted, and each and every one of them did an absolutely remarkable job. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about them, as well as Gordon and Cathy. To say we were fortunate to have them help us through this move is a huge understatement. I also want to underscore that we are a military family and have moved seven times in the past ten years, so we have a lot of experience with moving companies. Gordon's Moving is by far, without question, THE VERY BEST.
