The portion size is great for the price. I highly recommend this place even though it isn't the best in town. The sweet & sour chicken is good, but your standard Chinese carryout chicken. The whole meal value is great for carry out option. There is a few booths available is you'd like to order your food at the counter and then sit down to eat. As far as drinks, there is a cooler with canned and bottled drinks. The staff is prompt and prepared to assist. I stopped here looking for a good Chinese joint in my area. This place was decent. I got the steamed dumplings which were pretty good. I'd order them again. I also got the beef with snow peas lunch and requested hot & sour soup. I got home and no hot & sour soup which was disappointing. They are very friendly and fast in the Main Moon in the 30th st plaza. I was able to walking and place an order and was ready to go in 10 minutes. The food is always good, haven't had a bad meal from there yet. The ambiance is bare but a few items on the wall. It's seems since covid hit It's more of a take out instead of eating in. Really sad to write this review. We moved to Plain twp when I was 10 years old and Main Moon became our go-to chinese place growing up. I used to frequent it as an adult as well when they had the lunch buffet and I was sad to see it go, however I was in the area and had to order dinner for my family on the way home so I stopped here! Food quality is not the same as I remember. I ordered chicken and broccoli, and there was about 4 pieces of chicken and the rest of it was full of broccoli, for $9.25 or close to that I expect equal amounts, or more than an ounce of Chicken. It was also so drowned in the sauce that it was barely edible. As i was picking my order up, there was a guy in the back who picked up a bowl, dipped his finger in whatever the sauce was and licked it, put the bowl back down and never washed his hands, walked right back up to the pot he was cooking out of, very disgusting and unsanitary, i have to say because of that I will not go back here anytime soon. This place is pretty typical for a strip mall chinese joint. They have a nice little lunch buffet and all of the dishes I've had have been pretty good (sweet and sour chicken, pork lo mein- I know daring, right?) The reason for the 4 star rating can be summed up in 2 words: crab rangoons. Now I know what you are thinking, you've had crab rangoons before, probably several times at casual joints and maybe even a few times at more upscale places and they are all pretty similar. This is true - except at the main moon. The main moon was the first crab rangoon I ever had and I have spent the last 8 years trying to find something similar. What sets these rangoons apart is the shell. They are not made from the same "dough" as other rangoons and they are stuffed full of cream cheese and crab and served with your classic sweet and sour sauce. Clearly I don't have enough the culinary jargon to describe them properly so just know that I would trample a pack of 3rd graders with puppies to get to these crab rangoons. read more

The food has changed with the new ownership. The new staff is very friendly and nice. I have experience with 2 orders. Both times we had as appetizers crab rangoon, pot stickers, and egg rolls. The crab rangoon is very different than before. There have less filling but a much improved crust. The pot stickers have a much thinner dough and we found them to be lesser in quality (tried fried and steamed). The egg rolls are very good, the shrimp egg rolls were not. the main dishes we had were sesame chicken and General Tso's chicken. Both were improved. The sesame chicken had less batter and a nice sauce. Good! The Tso's was spicier than before and still sweet. Good! Next we will try double cooked pork, and probably moo goo gai pan. We have been getting Main Moon for almost 20 years and it was always great. I guess there are new owners and it is not nearly as good or as cheap. The eggroll was greasy, the meals where SUPER small for $5. We ate it all and were hungry. Never have I not had left overs. The crab Rangoon are not the same and not nearly as good. SO disappointed. This was our Christmas dinner. It is bad enough it was our Christmas but to have it be soooo bad made it even works. My meal didn't taste good either! This is my favorite Chinese food place in Canton. That being said, the service and restaurant itself (seating and upkeep) leave a lot to be desired. The lady who mans the front of the restaurant is very rude and emotionless. I've been there many times and have never seen her smile. Overall, if you just want good food and don't care about a somewhat dirty restaurant (I usually get takeout) and a rude hostess, you'll be right at home here. I ate here regularly years ago and when visiting the area, try to stop by. To be honest, I still stop by for the ghost as much as the food. During one of my first visits to Main Moon, I was sitting in one of the booths on the right side and just happened see someone in my field of vision while I was taking a bite. A couple minutes later another patron sat down at one of the booths further in back and I realized there wasn't a hallway across the back of the narrow restaurant. That meant I saw someone walk through one booth on the right, across the aisle and continue on through the booth on the left and into the wall. The person, a man (average height) with black hair in a white t-shirt and faded blue jeans, was as solid as me. Back to the actual food, I miss it.
