This review is based on my experience dealing with Maid in Raleigh this morning, and specifically the lack of professionalism, threatening language, and outright refusal to do the right thing by the owner.
I recently had a baby a few days ago, and while I was in the hospital, my husband discovered one of our pups had fleas - so we contacted Maid in Raleigh to clean the house prior to having an exterminator come in to fully treat the house the same day.
I booked and paid for the cleaning online (the only booking option), and used a coupon code I received via email, $99 for two hours, $85 each additional hour needed. I then confirmed over the phone with the company my booking and scheduled time for this morning.
At 10:30am this morning I called to find out where my cleaners were (they had said they would be here between 8-8:30am) and left a message. I then received a call back saying they weren't coming because of the weather (the weather is fine) - and I shared I had other bookings dependent on this cleaning, and asked why did it take me calling to find out where they were, versus someone proactively calling this morning when they were supposed to already be here. They then told me they would be here at 11:30am, I said ok.
Thirty minutes later, I receive another call from Maid in Raleigh, telling me that the coupon I used was for first time customers, and they would still clean my house, but I had to pay the full $250 for them to do so. I asked to speak with that person's supervisor, at which point he told me he was the owner.
He asked me what I wanted him to do, and I said given this cleaning was already paid for, I confirmed with a person on the phone, and after several conversations not ONCE did someone mention to me needing to pay beyond what I already did until this 11th hour call when they are already late and tried to back out once, I wanted him to honor the booking as is. He refused, and told me I should have read the fine print (which is at the very bottom of the email), well below the button to "redeem offer" that I had clicked.
I suggested his system should have prevented me from using the code, or at minimum the two people who I spoke with previously who looked at my booking and already knew my contact information could have mentioned it when we spoke the days before the scheduled cleaning.
Given his outright refusal to honor what I had booked, (he said he would keep the cleaning, but at the $250 amount), I advised him I would be writing this review, to which he replied I should really think about doing that, as it is illegal for me to write a negative review...what??!! He also told me that all of this was my opinion, and that he would respond to my review with the facts...and then our conversation ended abruptly - not sure if we were disconnected or he hung up, but the conversation was over already anyways. read more
