I want to start by saying that I don't have any previous experience with Vietnamese food.
I was on vacation in Paris with my parents, my wife, and a couple American friends. I suggested we find an Asian option for dinner. After reading some Yelp reviews we intended to try Le Dragon (about a block east) only to find it was closed for renovation.
Our group isn't too adventurous, so I went in and asked if they had an English menu. The waiter at the host stand said they didn't, pointed to an Asian waiter and said he was from America and could help us with the menu. It smelt wonderful, so I recommended that we give the place a try.
The "American" waiter didn't speak much English and wasn't much help, but he did try his best. Google translate did most of the work as we tried to navigate a Vietnamese menu written in French.
Half our group ordered honey pork skewers, one beef skewer, the salt and pepper shrimp, and curry chicken. We also tried the egg rolls and crab soup. I have to say I was shocked that everyone LOVED their food. I had the shrimp and soup and can report that it was excellent.
The staff had varied experience with English, but was very patient and helpful. I wish I had time to go back and try more dishes.
