I requested bids from about 7-8 electricians for ceiling fan installations and Mahaffey Electric was the first business to respond. Not only was his response timely, but he quoted a fair price and the work he did was excellent. I highly recommend you consider Mahaffey Electric for any work you are planning. He was very nice, did not make any messes, and got the job done quickly. 10/10! If you are in OC, please support this local licensed business! read more

My car had been giving me error codes indicating that my 14-50 outlet was overheating. I contacted Dustin to ask him about it and he mentioned that the outlets tend to wear out over time due to the constant charging. He had installed it previously and I wanted his input. It made sense that it would wear out and I asked him about coming out to replace it. He quoted me the price for the replacement and labor. I asked if I could purchase the outlet on my own and for him to install it and he gave me another quotation. I agreed and he gave me his next available appointment. He contacted me the day before asking if he could come earlier and since my husband was working from home, I checked with him and he agreed. Everything went smoothly and Dustin swapped out the outlet in less than 10 minutes. He even double checked the amperage. Thanks again to such outstanding service. If you're in need of an electrician, give Dustin a call or message him on Yelp. He's a great electrician and I would contact him again. read more

Just book Mahaffey now, no need to chase quotes from over-chargin electricians. I have called Dustin and his team on repeat across 7 years and they always do a really thorough and expert job. When it comes to electrical, you really don't want to use a handyman who may or may not know what they're doing! Some jobs he and his team have completed for us range from outdoor and indoor light and fan replacements or installations. He has replaced every single outlet in our home, he has made our home safer with Jbox installs. I have referred him to so many happy friends and family. On top of this, he is the NICEST guy and someone you can trust to come into your home! Book him today, prices are very reasonable too! read more

This guy's been my one and only electrician after a really bad one. He's honest and reasonable. He came out, did some tests, and determined it was that not the full 240v were coming in from the So Cal Edison lines. He was here maybe five minutes. He didn't charge me, and my cat that hates everyone let him pet her. I've never seen this before from her because she's a jerk. The VERY LEAST I can do is give him a full FIVE STAR REVIEW read more

Honest, reliable and great communication! I found this local family owned business through a Yelp search. Dustin answered immediately and when I thought I was going to need a more powerful volt outlet, he had me take photos of my breaker box and found out that I already have what I needed for my new appliance. It was so great to come across such a straight forward professional. I still had Dustin come out to check the outlet and make sure it's working properly, since it hadn't been used in 20 years, which is actually exactly how long Dustin has been in the business. He charged a small fee, and even though I could have bought a volt measuring device myself, it was best to call an electrician who knows what to do, and not do. I definitely did not want to take the chance of getting an electric shock just to save $50 after the price of the device. I will definitely be calling Dustin again for any electrical needs in the future. read more

They may do good work, but I've been waiting 3 days for them to respond to a request for a quote. Not encouraging! read more

Dustin is a total badass electrician. He has also managed to become BFFs with my dog. Ive had Mahaffey Electric over for a few jobs this year, and there's no one else I'd rather call for such matters. Today, he installed 4x ceiling fans... which he squeezed us in and had knocked out in less than 2 hours. 2 weeks ago, Dustin swung by to fix my ineptitude in replacing LED receptacles in the kitchen. And my all time favorite, back in January, Dustin and team installed outlets behind 3x wall-mounted TVs, running/ fishing cables through the walls SO CLEANLY that i am still in awe every time i go to turn on the tube. Seriously, if you're looking for a no-BS electrician, you've found your guy. Honest work, fair pricing, great communication, reliable, AND great with dogs (and humans, too). read more

Dustin Mahaffey is the best contractor I've ever worked with for my home projects!!! He is a very skillful electrical technician with great taste and extremely high ethical standard. Big or small projects, he has always been there for me. I had him did recess lights and wall lights for my living room, bedroom, and two other rooms. He also added two bathrooms fans for me. Lately, I had him back for high ceiling smoke alarms and broken wall switch for two chandeliers. He always did beautiful flawless jobs whenever I asked him for help with my projects! I can always count on Dustin for his high standard job quality and his great respect to my property!!! read more

Dustin is the man! Came early, super nice, completed the job quick, and gave the best price for a nema 240v install. Highly recommend!

Dustin is awesome! He did a bunch of work in my new house - light & switch installs, under counter lighting, smart switch installs, etc. I got a quote from a different electrician prior to reach out to Dustin and his response time and availability weren't great so I looked around and found Dustin on Yelp. Dustin responded immediately, had a more competitive quote, and overall I am just quite pleased with my decision to move forward with him. I will definitely use him again in the future. read more

Can't say enough about the great job Dustin did removing old lights in my kitchen and putting in recessed lighting with trim. They are very professional, came in removed the old outdated lights and put in the new lights all in one day. They cleaned up my kitchen and packed up and left. I will be calling him again to put in some new hanging lights after the holidays. Merry Christmas to me!! read more

Dustin helped me a few years ago. This week he and Hans came to my new home and installed ceiling fans and fixed wiring that was dangerous and installed wrong. I highly recommend Mahaffey Electric and would use them again! read more

Did a great job installing a ceiling fan on budget in a timely manner. He also patched the drywall.

Dustin and Hans are an awesome team! Dustin was quick to reply to our requests, very courteous, professional, respectful, clean, and his prices are reasonable. Mahaffey Electric has been a huge blessing. Dustin is great to work with. They are my go-to now.

Bid was fair. Final invoice was actually slightly below bid, amazing. He was on time arriving and did everything in about hour and half. Actual situation when he opened things up was slightly different but he adjusted and did everything promised and more. Our ceiling fan now works perfectly. read more

Needed a quick light switch with dimmer set up after my painters failed to hook everything back up correctly. Ryan responded back immediately with a VERY reasonable quote to do the job, and was available the next day. He showed up promptly at the scheduled time and the job was very quick and efficient. Thankfully, Ryan had a dimmer on him that worked since the one I purchased was faulty. The whole job took minimal time, and now I have a future electrician I can depend on for any future projects. I blindly contacted Mahaffey Electrical based on my good friend Aaron and Trina's referrel for a NEMA 14-50. (See their reviews here) Of course with our house, we have tons of "on-going" home improvement projects. So in addition to the quote for the outlet, I had added a few other tasks that I could do, but wanted a professional instead. Because you know, it would probably take me 2 days to do it and sure enough, Dustin was able to finish my projects in due time. What I really love about his service is his professionalism, courteousness, and a straight forward approach to fix what you need. No BS, no added charges, and no up-sell. While this sounds simple, it's a lost art in any service industry nowadays. I am happy to say Dustin came on time, installed a much needed light in our attic as well as the fans and included a new junction box in the kid's rooms. Also replaced one of our GFI plugs in the our garage. We are extremely happy with his work and have already set a new appointment for more things done around the house. PM me if you like more details on his work but I hope this brief and simple review will convince you Dustin is highly recommended. Note, we live in North OC and Dustin covers a large area in the county. read more

My (relatively) straightforward request to have a 240V (NEMA 14-50) outlet installed in my garage was met with a very quick, simple and reasonable quote back from Dustin with Mahaffey Electrical. Where other electricians that I requested quotes from seemed apprehensive, confused, or even attempted at upselling, Dustin was direct, and straight to the point like a true, trustworthy pro. On the day of the job, Dustin gave me an arrival time window (1 hour), but was willing to send me a text when he was on his way. Upon arrival, he got to work right away, finished the job much quicker than I anticipated, and the result was as clean and flawless as I hoped it could be. The price was worth every penny. My new Tesla and I couldn't be happier! I highly recommend hiring Dustin to handle your electrical needs! Just note that you'll likely have to book him out a bit, because he keeps VERY busy! read more

This is the second time I've used Mahaffey for electrical needs. The first was about 7yrs ago for kitchen lights and room fans installed. Excellent service. Tesla Wall Connector installation was quick and easy. Dustin also returned to fix an issue on the same day I contacted him. read more

We had an issue with outlets in all of our bathrooms and tried to reset all the circuit breakers with no luck. We were fearing the worst that we would have to try to fix it ourselves or have an electrician come out and give us a hefty price quote for an extra expense we didn't plan for. I was shopping around Yelp for quotes from different electricians weighing the average estimate against buying tools ourselves and asking for help from a sales associate at Lowe's. Dustin, the manager of this business gave me the quote I asked for but also gave me some advice to help. And it worked!!! Such a relief knowing neither my husband or I would get electrocuted, or wouldn't have an extra expense to pay!! A million thank you'd, Dustin! You are an awesome human being and if we ever have any electrical issues in the future, I won't have to shop around for quotes again. I'm going directly to you guys!! read more

Dustin gave us the best quote, kept in prompt contact over email, and was flexible about times to come over. Once he was here, he replaced the switch in about ten minutes. Dustin got back to me promptly, answered my questions and gave me a very fair quote.

Dustin did a great job installing 2 new ceiling fixtures, one of which was very high over a stairway. He's the only one of several businesses I contacted who didn't think it was a problem to put up a special ladder to reach the fixture. Fair price, quick work. Dustin and his co-electrician were both very nice as well. Highly recommend! read more
