That said, the biggest issue is availability. It feels like the focus is more on bringing patients in than actually accommodating them once they're clients. There's very little flexibility with scheduling, and getting an appointment after school (3-5 PM) is nearly impossible. Missing school regularly just isn't a realistic option for most families. If they could improve access and scheduling flexibility, this would be a much stronger experience overall.

I had booked the appointment for a tech to make a new mold to replace my broken retainer. Unexpectedly, Dr Curtis cheerfully involved himself in the process and offered two completely different approaches to my retainer. Unfortunately what I received instead was a consistent pattern of poor service, lack of accountability, and a practice that prioritizes VOLUME over patient well-being. I experienced so many issues with my Invisalign treatment. Multiple scans were done improperly significantly delaying my progress. Those errors were largely the result of an inattentive and poorly trained staff. One particularly disappointing incident involved dental glue being cured on my skin an avoidable mistake that should never occur in a professional clinical setting. Zero accountability was taken. I will say at one point there was a single staff member who stood out for her professionalism and care and she made a noticeable difference for me during her time there. She's the only reason I decided not to transfer care but she eventually left the practice which only emphasizes the ongoing issues with staff turnover. My appointments have been marked by disorganization and long wait times far beyond the scheduled appointment time. It's very much an assembly-line approach to patient care. The office always feels overcrowded and very rushed with little regard for individual attention. Rescheduling appointments was unnecessarily difficult and rigid. I was consistently met with inflexibility from the administrative side of the practice. Patient convenience is never a consideration. I also experienced significant billing issues. Automatic payments continued to be withdrawn from my account. It took multiple contacts with the office to resolve the issue and receive reimbursement. Dr. Johnson's demeanor shifted to one that felt increasingly indifferent and dismissive once I stopped responding to his insincere superficial interactions. It became clear that a genuine rapport and patient connection were not priorities for him. He didn't care about my case. My experience with Dr. Bret Johnson's practice was consistently substandard. Every single part of it. From clinical care to customer service. Every facet of my treatment fell short of reasonable expectations. I'm seriously disappointed. Orthodontic treatment is an investment of both time and financial resources and I expected a provider who is competent. I assumed that's what I was paying for. He was a bit apprehensive at first about having his treatment but she reassured him and took away any nerves he was having. We even had to call her after hours. She was quick to answer and willing to do whatever she could to make sure my son got the care he needed without making you feel like you were a bother or disturbing her. Okay. So I am torn between two stars and three…read more I had my braces on years ago, and had them removed in 2002. I am in the United States Navy and they put a top bar on my mouth before I left for Boot camp in 2007 so I wouldn't loose my retainer. Well about 4 years ago my top bar broke and I had it fixed and with a new permanent retainer the female of the two orthodontist's (I believe dr. Paxton) did not charge me much I think it was less than 200.00 also including the clear retainer. Well I was home 4 years later visiting for bloomsday and schedule an appointment because my top bar broke again, I was quoted 160.00 on the phone, well by the time I was done they took the cement off my bottom bar, did my top bar then gave me a retainer. I was about to leave and one of the ladies that works there said "oh that's going to be 375" and the male orthodontist said you shouldn't have been quoted over the phone, we will fix that internally. well I obviously couldn't not pay it. But when you're quoted 160 and it comes out to 375 that's a pretty big difference. If something happens again I will not come back, which is sad after literally 15+ years. There's plenty of orthodontist where I live (San Diego) that I'll get it taken care of.
