We recently bought a Wave Runner and got a trailer from Magnum to tow it on. After about one month, one of the tail lights went out. I took the trailer in and a gentleman met me outside as I pulled onto the lot. I explained the problem and he said, "give me 10 minutes and I'll have it fixed for you". He ran some quick diagnostics on the light and discovered that the circuit was not complete because a bolt was loose. He not only fixed the issue, but he also replaced the bolt with on that locks and won't come loose again. He had me on my way in 10 minutes! He didn't charge me anything or even ask to see a receipt for the trailer purchase. I know this was a small encounter, but it was about as good as it could have been! Thanks! read more

Staff was supper rude when I called for a estimate on a car hauler guy I spoke with was rude off the back and being a smart ass about his pricing saying I priced all trailers out and they must not be the same. He never gave me a mode on which trailer he gave me a est on and when I told him that was 600 more then his competition he got more blunt with me just straight up rude that for sure pushes me away as a customer. I went in a few months ago. My trailer light connection didn't seem to be working on my truck. I had hoped to wait while someone looked at it. I was told not that day. Even though I thought the problem was my truck, I was told to leave my trailer. I asked for an estimate. The service writer asked me about some other things to do. I had them price it. I believe it was a $90 Estimate! You don't get that back after you have work done. I approved some of the items. Things were added to my trailer that weren't original. I am sure they made it better, but thought it was just an additional expense. $970 later, my lights still didn't work. Guess what we did next? Look at the trailer. Nearly $1300 later and my lights work. The light connector on the truck was bad. read more

These guys are the most un-helpful group that I have delt with, I came to them with a height issue on my new 5th wheel hitch. I bought the 5th wheel 1st and then purchased a tow rig that came with a B&W companion flatbed hitch, the hitch sat down in a troft and was to low for my pin box by 8". I showed them pictures and told them the problem, the guy behind the counter told me they sold B&W but he didn't have a book, " I guess looking on the computer was to exhausting a task", he then called a guy from outside, the guy that would supposedly know, and this guy took a look at the picture and said, there is nothing you can do to fix the problem, sorry, they just don't make anything, so I guess I just bought an RV and truck that is worthless and cant be towed. The next day I got on B&W's website, and they had a live chat option, I explained my problem and they told me within 2 minutes that I could swap out the base for an adjustable height base and gain 8" vertical height, WOW, exactly what I needed. I know I should have done this in the 1st place, however, I figured I would ask the " professionals". HA. Now, I will be ordering the base from a different dealer and will never spend a dime at Magnum trailers. I suggest you look elsewhere if you need this type of service. read more

I read many of the reviews here and it's interesting how much of a twisted view you can get. Unfortunately, people sometimes are quick to be negative and talk about it but when they have a great experience, they don't say anything. I went here thinking I would likely get crappy service and really wasn't looking forward to being treated like a child just because I didn't know about trailers. What I got was honestly a very nice experience! I went by twice, first time looking for a specific type of trailer (though I didn't know exactly what that was cause I don't know much about trailers). I just knew the rough size I needed and how much it had to haul. The gentleman who worked with me was knowledgable and patient. I asked a ton of questions, many stupid (maybe all of them were stupid to him, who knows) and he answered them and gave me all the info I needed and then some. Over the next 10 days things hanged and so did my need for he trailer. When I went back, I ended up with the same man. He remembered me and some of the details. Though he was basically starting over with me since I now needed a completely different type of trailer, he was completely friendly and helpful. We went through the process and all was good. I had done a little searching on line so knew the price range is be in. The trailer he showed me seems to be a great trailer and was for a very good price. I didn't find a better price on line for a new trailer. Even most of the used ones were similar prices or just too beat up. I must mention that the guys in the main entrance who aren't the trailer sales guys are also friendly and nice. They greeted me right away and called for a sales guy and told me to let them know if I needed anything. I am a small business owner. I survive on good service. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this place. I guess it goes to show any place or company can have bad moments. You just gotta give them a chance to fix it. And sometimes you may have to be patient and understanding. If I have issues in the future, I will update this review but I don't foresee any problems. read more

****Update*****, 25 April- After my rather bad experience, I received a phone call from the owner of Magnum who's name is Charlie. He talked to me about my situation and apologized for the services I received and said he would be sending me a refund check for the $75 quote fee. I did receive the check from him with another apology letter signed by him. I have to say that this goes a long with with me and customer service. I really appreciated the effort of a company owner reaching out to their customers. Written apologies are something that are rare these days since it takes the time from the owner to write it, and I truly appreciate it. This is why I'm updating my 2 star review to a 4 star. With the effort the owner puts into his company and assuring his customers are truly happy says a lot about him and how he cares about his business. Thank you Charlie. Your the reason why I gave a higher rating. I recently purchased a Boat & Trailer(not from Magnum) and didn't realize my trailer needed repair. So I decided to take it to Magnum off of 620 in Austin since they made the trailer back in 1995. I thought they could do a good job since they originally made it and their recorded voice on their phone line brags about their speedy service and eight service bays. I dropped my boat & trailer off on March 27. The individual walked outside with me and I told him everything I wanted done. We walked back inside as it started to rain and we verified everything on his paperwork. He asked if I wanted a written quote, and it would be an additional $75. I asked if it was necessary since I was willing to pay whatever amount it was to ensure my trailer was safe on the road. He said no, and that it would be 3-5 days until they could start on it due to the summer season approaching. I said that's fine and I understand(this includes the $190 fee to remove my boat from the trailer for service). I said yes to everything and I wanted to get everything done quickly since I had just bought the boat 3 days prior. A week and a half rolls around and I'm getting curious what it will cost me so I can be prepared. So I call and they said it will be a $75 quote fee, I said yes because I want to know what I have to pay. 2 days later I get the quote, cool. Another 5 days rolls around and I'm getting anxious on getting my trailer back, so I call again. He said it's not in service yet, and it may be Monday or Tuesday till they start. At this point my boat and trailer have been there almost 3 weeks. I ask him why my boat hasn't gotten in the service bay yet, he said it's only been 4 days since the quote. I said okay, well my boat has been there for almost 3 weeks. He said, well we don't put it in line for the service bay till we have a signed quote. What??!! Are you serious?? I was not told this when I originally dropped off the boat & trailer. He said, I don't know what to tell you, but that's policy. Okay, I get it, that's policy, but that's not what you fire back with in a conversation with a customer who has a quote for $1,700 in trailer repairs waiting to happen for almost 3 weeks. Needless to say, I was very upset after that phone call. After that, I decided to pull my boat and trailer from their service and take it back. Obviously the person whom I had been dealing with for the past 3 weeks(Jim Kirtchner) I believe, needs some retraining in customer etiquette. So needless to say, Magnum lost out on $1,700 in service that I was more than willing to pay. I won't be coming back for any service there, ever again. Now, a gentlemen named Craig was very nice to me and apologetic after I told him my story when I paid for the quote fee and took my boat back. He did guarantee me that it would be in first thing the next service day, but my mind was already made up to take my business elsewhere. I would have given this place 1 star, but Craig was their saving grace. He was very nice to deal with and listened to my discontent. All in all, my unserviced trailer was there from 27 March to 14 April, with nothing done on it. My trailer is now at a different business with a guarantee of a 2-4 day turn around starting on Monday. read more

Called Magnum trailers on a reference from PJs trailer manufacturers. Spoke to a salesperson and explained that my wife and I are looking to purchase a tiny house trailer. the specs I needed 8' x 20' , 5" c-channel, no wood flooring needed with 6 ton axles. Was given a verbal quote of $4300. At this point I was ecstatic to find a local supplier for our future home. I explained that seemed fair and that I would send him the autocad drawings. The next day I received a email with a quote but no itemized list of cost breakdown for 5075. There was no explanation given to the increase in cost until I asked in a return email. I was told due to steel tariffs the price had changed, how could a price change 20% in one day? read more

I had a great experience buying a small cargo trailer here. -The staff was helpful and polite -I bugged these poor salesman several times over the phone the last few days trying to get all the info I needed to get the right hitch for my passenger van and they were patient with me -When I arrived at their 620 location I had a small amount of time to see, purchase and load the trailer and Steve made the process very easy for me. Eric was great. He is not in charge, however Todd is and he is a totally unprofessional big mouth @ CUSTOMER SERVICE after We spent $12K on a custom trailer for our boat. When we went to pick it up, they did not give me back my credit card.( Simple mistake) However, when I arrived at my ranch in Dale, TX (1Hr 10 Min x1 way)the trailer will not go in reverse. It locks up the brakes. They installed the wrong connector for this custom trailer. I asked Todd to over night the correct adapter as well as my credit card. Both of these mistakes were theirs. He becomes condescending ( calling me a dumb a$$ )while telling me they have great customer service. Finally, after 10 minutes of arguing , like you would with a kid, all while he keeps stating he is 55 years old, I threatened to charge back the entire transaction and return this trailer to them. Then, he agrees that I can drive 1 hr and 10 minutes back ( total of 4 hrs 40 minutes, - so that they can repair their mistake. No apologies, just smart mouth - I will never use Magnum trailers again because of TODD If anyone at Magnum trailers sees a phone in Todd's hands, they should just slap it off his head! :) read more

So I went to Magnum Trailers on 620 in North Austin to see what they had. They have a big selection that you can see as you're driving on 620. I walk in there and the jerk at the counter looks at me and says "what do you want" with an attitude...like I'm causing him trouble because he had to take his eyes off the computer screen for a moment. I told him what I was looking for and he called someone in sales to come to the front. I fellt like they had no interest in my business and that I was a hindrance to them. I walked out of there saying to myself - what a bunch of nuckle heads. I hope to NEVER do business with them. If you need them for something, be prepared to be treated like a doormat. A friend told me that if you're not filthy rich or one of their big commercial accounts, they don't give a darn about your business. Yep, exactly right! I was planning a 4 day boating trip with my family to Lake Travis, and was interested in getting some work done on my trailer while I had the boat in the water. I wanted to get the bunk covers replaced, and have 3 or 4 areas repainted where the paint is starting to peel. I called Magnum Trailers a few days before the trip to see if they could get the work done in time. I spoke to a woman in the front office, who told me that they could do both of the jobs, but couldn't promise that they could get it done in 4 days. Since I had such a limited time, I asked several times if she could give me any indication if they could get the work done. Each time she said that I would have to bring it in so they could look at it before they could give me any estimation on how long it would take. I even asked to speak to the person who would give me the estimate, but she said that he wouldn't be able to tell me anything without bringing the trailer in. Long story short, I changed my route to the lake to run the trailer by Magnum Trailers. When I got there I spoke to a man in the Service Dept. and explained my situation. He then informed me that they had a 25 day lead time on repairing trailers, and that I would have to bring it back when I could leave it with them for at least a month. He wouldn't even come out and look at the trailer to see what needed to be done. I explained that I had tried multiple times to get that information from the woman on the phone a few days earlier to which he replied "Yeah, the ladies in the office don't know what our schedule is back here." I understand that the office personnel may not know the service department's schedule, but if they are answering the phone, they should at least know that they are not even going to get around to looking at the trailer for 25 DAYS! If they had been able to give me that much information I could have saved me and my family over an hour of our vacation time, and the hassle of driving through Austin traffic. After purchasing a teardrop trailer it need repairs, and some add-ons. So I decided to seek assistance at Magnum Trailers on Hwy 620 in Austin. It was trouble from the git go. They assigned a new employee to the quote. Then when an experienced employee had to assist, a manager, evidently the owner, barked over the PA system to wrap up and get back inside. I had expected to get a quote that day so I would not have to make a second trip. Instead they required that I leave the trailer. It took them over a week to call me back. Oh, did I mention they charge for working up an estimate but don't inform you of that until the end. When I returned, it was just odd. They were angry and irritated during the entire consumer encounter. Because the person I purchased the teardrop from would be paying for some of the repairs, I needed the repair quote in writing. Magnum refused to put the quote in writing. Matters got so tension filled I was just ready to get out of there. Stopped in one day to work on a trailer here for work and was impressed with all the different types of trailers and other items they make at this place. If you need a special trailer made for your truck or car, they can do it, if you need a special BBQ pit made for a park or your backyard, they can do it as well. Just draw them an idea of what it is your looking for and they will put it together. No job to big or small for them to handle. They also design other things you might want, maybe a special playground or cart to haul around. Just ask. The service inside was good for mostly a male oriented environment. The bathroom could be enlarged some but other than that its ok. I will never do any type of business with this company again. I brought a trailer in for some repair work and it was clear they did not want to deal with it. The employees I had to deal with were rude, sarcastic, spoke down to me. Plus they wanted 75 bucks to just give me a quote on the repair! I ended up being able to get a ball park quote for free that took all of 5 minutes, how can they charge 75 dollars for 5 minutes of work? I left it with them hoping that even though the employees were impossible to deal with, the work would be above par. Sadly I was wrong. My trailer now looks worse then when I took it to them. They used black SPRAY PAINT on a expensive bass boat trailer that was matched to the boat color with metal flake mixed in. So now the fenders do not match, the work is already chipping off because they did not sand anything down, and they did not even repair everything I asked for! A highschool shop class would have done better work, and been more friendly about it. Please, safe yourself the hassle and steer clear of this business. Customer service is obviously not a priority for these people unless you are buying a new trailer. I have had a couple other bad experiences with them, but never anything like this. I worked with Ray at the 620 location. He was extremely patient and respectful. I didn't know beans about trailers, but he took the time to answer each question fully. I feel pretty confident that I got the right trailer. Then, when it was time to pick it up I dealt with another fellow who was also really good and very careful about helping me select the right hitch. I liked them a lot and the owner, Charlie is a good guy with a wry sense of humor. Let me be clear, this review is for the location on Hwy 620. I have been there twice for my boat trailer, and left twice pissed off. Their prices are kind of high, but hey they gotta make a living and they provide a service I need... no big deal. However their customer service is absolute crap. The first time I went there they tried charging me $75 extra because I asked to be notified of how much the total repairs were going to cost before they started work. This fee was NOT told to me prior to billing, had I been told that initially it wouldn't be as bad. Today I went back since every other shop in Austin was backed up. I spoke with an older gentleman working the front desk (I believe his name was Ron). Long story short he came out to look at my boat since I needed an axel replaced and quite a bit of other work. He said they couldn't have it fixed by the date I needed... ok not ideal but I understand. I said I would like to order the replacement axel anyways and pick it up when its ready to install it myself. ($590 since its a specialty torsion axel... not a cheap sale) he basically said "there are all kinds of axels, I can't just look at it and tell you which you need". I asked if he could have a mechanic look at it and take measurements to figure out the correct part needed. He said "I'm not crawling on the ground to look at it".... He made it seem like it was impossible to figure out the axel it needed without leaving the boat with them for a week... You're a TRAILER SALES & REPAIR SHOP! You make a living fixing trailers, yes you can look at an axel, take measurements, and determine what to sell me. The issue wasn't price or that I needed it right away... the salesman was simply a prick and really seemed like he didn't want my business. I live 10 minutes from their location and will never be back. HOWEVER, I would like to note, that Magnum Trailers shop in San Marcos is COMPLETELY different. I believe the employee's name was Aaron? He was extremely helpful, took the time to take measurements under the trailer with what I needed (Funny the older gentleman at the 620 location said that wasn't possible??) and got it ordered for me. They even helped me out with a broken marker light before I left. I will be back there next time I need trailer repair. Night and day difference. If you have a boat or a specialty trailer, please heed my advice and steer clear of the 620 location. You'll thank me later. read more

These guys are great! I went in to purchase a grill and I was amazed by their customer service. As soon as I walked in I was greeted at the door. The guy I talked to knew how to operate the grills and the differences between the grills. I wound up getting a smoker. It was pretty big so I got it delivered. My food has never tasted better. I'm saving money now that I cook my own food. The guys from Army Ant Moving dropped the grill off at my house because it was so heavy. They handled the heavy grill with ease. I would highly recommend the people at Magnum Trailers if you need a grill or smoker. They are the best! read more

I went here with a trailer I had recently purchased after I noticed a crack in the frame. I wasn't sure if it was safe to even have it on the road at that time. I nervously drove to see about getting it repaired. I looked at the Magnum website and there was nothing in reference to making appointments ahead of time. When I walked through the doors of this empty showroom and up to the counter, I was reluctantly noticed by an annoyed face peering up from his computer, while the other guy kept his head buried in his. There were no other customers in sight. I explained my unfortunate circumstance with the trailer and asked if anyone could take a look at it and hopefully provide a solution in the way of repair. These two men had no interest in offering any help. One of them told me that they could take a look at it in two weeks because they did estimates by appt only. I asked him please could you just take a quick look; it is right outside the door, again explaining to him my concern and worry. He and his partner had no time for people that day. They were instead focused on their seats and computers. This is not any way I would treat a potential customer. As a business owner myself, I treat people in the way I want to be treated and I expect my employees to do the same. We are very busy, but we are never to busy to offer kindness and consideration to those who choose to spend their money by patronizing our business. From looking at some of the other reviews, this wouldn't appear to be Magnum's mantra. Even if Magnum had not been able to look at my trailer that day, they could have at a minimum pretended to want my business. On a side note, I left Magnum and drove straight to Spiller Custom Hitches, where I was welcomed and appreciated as a customer. They were empathetic to my situation, looked at my trailer immediately and gave me an estimate for repair. I left my trailer at their location and two days later, it was fixed.
