I received a recommendation from one of my bridesmaids to work with Tina for my hair on my wedding day and I was SO incredibly happy I did. From day one, she was responsive, accommodating and simply a pleasure to work with! We scheduled a trial a little over two months before my wedding. I am VERY particular about my hair. I like how up do's look, however I have a hair line that goes lower in the back. I showed Tina a photo for inspiration and it's like she read my mind. The look was exactly what I was envisioning! I also got my hair piece from an online site from Hair Comes the Bride and I was very pleased. My mother-in-law also did a hair trial since she wasn't sure exactly what she wanted to do with for the day of and Tina set up the appointment and worked with her directly. There was no push back in that she couldn't accommodate her since she wasn't the bride. On the day of, Tina and Cathy arrived on time. They let me know what they needed. Up front they mentioned it would be easiest if my bridesmaids, mothers, etc. paid me directly, so that we could just give Tina one payment. Knowing this in advance helped keep things organized the day of. I had 10 bridesmaids, 3 flower girls and two mothers, 16 people total and Tina and Cathy handled it all flawlessly. We were even ahead of schedule! They were flexible to work with if one of the girls was running late and couldn't make her scheduled time. Tina also put a schedule together for me in advance and left plenty of time for my hair appointment, so that I didn't feel rushed. My sister, MOH, is also VERY particular about her hair. Tina was great with scheduling, down to the minute everything was timed out great during the day of. I wasn't a big fan of my hair for the trial and she was great at switching it up on the day of. My only complaints were with the trials and makeup, Tina works out of her home and her studio is in a dark basement so the lighting in there is not great. She was able to have the makeup artist, Arte, go to her studio so we could have the makeup and hair trial all in the same day. Unfortunately, the lighting in the basement was not good and I could not see how the makeup really looked until I left. I did get to take a look outside quickly and took a photo (I've attached it in this review) and the color match was not good, didn't match at all (was lighter than my neck and more yellow), my eyelashes were not placed correctly (ends were coming up, I'm not an eyelash wearer so not sure if this is normal), no primer or setting spray was used, I was also very shiny and oily looking, leaving me very worried for my wedding day. By the time the trial was over and I walked outside, the MUA had already left and if I wanted to have another trial to fix the first look I would have to pay the same fee again. I just decided to set up a time to talk to her about what I liked and didn't like and hopefully it would be different the day of. After that, I spent hours going to Sephora and Ulta, doing research to try to find a great foundation that matched my skin tone (Armani luminous silk was the winner). I also wasn't sure if this is normal for a wedding MUA, but there was absolutely zero skin prep before makeup application. We are told in their contract to just have clean, un moisturized skin before makeup application so I assumed she would be doing skin prep. I could be wrong about this, but I thought skin prep was a very important step in making sure makeup looks its best. At the trial I asked if she was going to use setting spray, and she said she doesn't recommend it because she doesn't like it and doesn't know how clients' skin will react. All that to say, at the end of the application on my wedding day, she did use a setting spray but the nozzle seemed to have been clogged or it was just not a good one because I got chucks of spray and huge droplets of spray on my face, it was very uneven and a startling feeling to get sprayed with that. I had also asked for some face contouring but I think she just didn't have time or maybe forgot. My skin looked very flat, one toned. Another thing was the gratuity portion, at the end of the services she just gave me a total that already included gratuity so I didn't even get a say in that. I also purchased extensions from her, I had originally told her I was interested in Luxy or Bellami, but she told me she had a special manufacturer she ordered from (ended up being Luxy hair) and she overcharged me when I could have just purchased the exact thing myself. I guess I feel what I got, service and final product, want worth the price and I should have done more research on who to hire for such a special event, and that's on me. At the end of the day, I loved my wedding day so all of this doesn't matter too much. Now that I've had a couple of months to reflect on my experience I'm able to share this and give it a proper review. I guess, make sure you do your research on a makeup artist and don't just go with convenience. read more

Several of my friends got married a year before I did, and their hair was AMAZING! Tina was their hair stylist and I knew at that very moment that I wanted her to do my hair and my bridal party's hair. From the moment I first met Tina, I knew she was the girl for me! She was extremely professional and had a lot of great ideas. She even let me look through her iPad of previous clients. It was nice to see that she had so MANY different styles to choose from and it was comforting to know that Tina doesn't stick to the "typical up-dos" that some salons do when dealing with brides. Right before my hair trial, I called Tina and told her that my hair wasn't as long as I had anticipated. Tina suggested that I add a few extensions. She matched my hair color perfectly and ordered extensions so that I would have them by my trial. When I went for my trial, I was SOOO excited to see how great my extensions looked! Tina did a great job prepping them ahead of time and she was soooo excited to add them to my look. My hair is fine but can frizz out of control with humidity. Tina reassured me that everything would be fine on June 1st (day of my wedding) and she would make sure that I would have enough hair product. My trial was flawless, and she took several pictures to make sure I liked what it looked like in photos. She saved the photos so she could refer back to them on the day of my wedding. Tina arrived before I did on the day of my wedding...lol! She was the first to arrive and was completely set up and ready to do 10 up-dos! That's right, you read it correctly, Tina did my entire bridal party, myself, and my mom's hair. Weeks before my wedding, Tina asked me to design a hair schedule for the day of my wedding. She wanted to make sure she had enough time. Tina started appointment #1 at 8:30am and finished #10 by 1pm. My entire bridal party was amazed at how efficient she was! She spent 30 minutes on each girl and each girl had completely different styles. Several girls commented on how wonderful their hair turned out and how they had never had such a great up-do for a wedding! Tina spent a little over an hour on my hair (she wanted it to be perfect, and she knew I felt the same way :) Tina did such a great job doing my hair that it held up THE ENTIRE night. There was never a time that I felt my hair was coming loose. My husband is Greek and she knew I was going to be doing A LOT of Greek dancing, so she secured my hair to make sure it wouldn't come undone. The next morning, I took some of the pins out and wore my hair to our post-wedding brunch. People couldn't believe how fabulous my hair still looked! Tina is amazing! She is such a talented hair stylist and she made my entire wedding party look beautiful on the day of our wedding. She made me look like I had a thick and full head of hair without even using extensions. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day thanks to her. Tina (hair) & Jennifer (makeup) of Magnificent Brides are truly AS GOOD AS IT GETS for wedding day hair and makeup! I am just VERY thankful I ended up hiring them at the last minute (i.e., four months before my wedding day, which I consider last minute because most of my vendors were hired a year in advance). Due to an issue with a different hair and makeup team I was originally planning to use, I was left scrambling to find a new hair and makeup team only four months from the big day. Magnificent Brides was the second team I had a trial with (due the the snafu I mentioned above), and they were BY FAR the better team. In the end, it was nice to have two trials with two different teams in order to have a comparison and to know what is really out there as far as bridal hair and makeup. Both my hair and my makeup looked WAY better after my Magnificent Brides trial than my trial with the first team (even my fiance and my Dad said so...and you KNOW the difference has to be big for men to notice it. Haha). I stressed endlessly about my hair & makeup; but, after attending my trial with Tina & Jennifer, I knew everything was going to be FANTASTIC on my wedding day. Not only did they make both my mom and me look gorgeous during our trial, but they were also super sweet, professional, and enjoyable to be with. My Mom immediately commented as we got in the car after the trial how much she liked both of them (something she definitely did not say about the first team we ended up not hiring). My wedding was this past July 2013, and, of all the different vendors we hired for that day, Tina & Jennifer of Magnificent Brides were the best vendors we had (tied for first with our band). All the other vendors seemed to have some kind of issues or weren't pleasant to deal with throughout the planning process, but I have zero complaints about Magnificent Brides. They were organized and communicative leading up to the wedding day. On the day of, they were at my parents' home bright and early with everything ready. Their work was impeccable, and they were fun to be around (important on day that can get very stressful). I LOVED my hair and makeup, and my bridesmaids all looked better than I've ever seen them look. Side note about hair: My hair is VERY fine, but I wanted an updo that made it look fuller without adding any extensions/clip ins. Honestly, Tina is a miracle worker because she made my hair look really full using all my own hair. People who know me and what my hair usually looks like couldn't believe it was all my own hair on my wedding day! Really, were was some magic going on with Tina's comb that day! My now husband mentions when looking at our professional pictures how good my hair looked that day. Side note about makeup: I was obsessed with how my makeup looked on my wedding day. Jennifer chose the absolute perfect colors for me and made me look exactly how I wanted. She even came to my reception venue after our ceremony for a touch up to make sure I looked flawless for the reception. My friends have commented on how much they loved my makeup, and I have spent every day since the wedding trying to re-create the look on my own (alas, I am not a professional makeup artist, so it will never look as good as Jennifer's version!). I love that Jennifer uses makeup from her own line (Veeve Cosmetics). I love love love the lip gloss color that she chose for me on my wedding day. I spent 3 months emailing and calling salons and hair services to inquire if they were able and willing to work with curly hair for bridal styles. Most either didn't bother to respond or flat out said the only way we'll touch it is if we blow it straight first. Well that just made my heart drop. I have pretty seriously curly hair and the idea of getting married with straight hair just seemed wrong. My fiance said he wouldn't recognize me if I walked down the aisle with straight hair (cause he's never seen me with it straight....ever) and that would be quite a shock. So trying to stay true to my roots, literally, I reached out to Tina and found a hair angel. During my first meeting with her I was in awe of what she could do and how excited and willing she was to take on this kind of a challenge. Then once I came in for my trial...oh that sealed the deal! I didn't have too many ideas of what I wanted but she created something amazing. And when she was done and I went home, my fiance was so impressed by my new "do" he took me out for dinner straight away!! Now that's saying something. The day of. Ohhhh the day of the wedding was intense. With temperatures near 85, high humidity and lots of gel and stress; I am not going to lie, I was worried. However, Tina came in with her equipment, called the hotel staff for the items she needed and went to work. My bridesmaids hair was AMAZING! They looked phenomenal and felt like princesses; I know because they told me. My Mom even got in on the action late in the game. She had tried out 3 different hair stylists who did nice things to her hair but nothing that said "wow" mother of the bride. Mom woke up on the morning of the wedding and decided to put her hair in the hands of Tina after the humidity did a number to her hair over night. Now a month later she is STILL getting compliments on her hair that weekend!! Tina understood her vision and executed it to perfection on the first try! Mom wow'd the crowd with that hair. Now my hair put up a bit of a fight but Tina found a way to tame the beast. And an hour after she was done when the beast reared it's ugly head again in the way of frizz she and I made direct trip to the bathroom and fixed it up with a handful of strategically placed product. I slathered it on and she worked her magic to ensure it was properly placed. The result was hair that I LOVED and everyone thought looked amazing! The next morning I took the pins out and basically wore it down again to our post-wedding breakfast. Everyone raved! Tina has amazing creativity and depth of knowledge on how to handle all sorts of hair. She gave each girl a different look that really represented them and their personality. Jen was amazing!!! She is not only incredibly talented but also super sweet. She did my makeup for our wedding this past August and also did my maid of honor and my mom. From the trial at her house to the big day, she was just great and accommodating. I never wear make up and am always nervous about a caked on look that doesn't look like me. Jen listened to me, and really just made me look like the best version of myself. Even late into the reception (after non stop dancing), my friend came up to me and mentioned how my make up STILL looked perfect. I hired Magnificent Brides to do my bridesmaids hair for my wedding. I was using someone else who I've been using for years, so I only needed someone for my wedding party. I can't say that a 5 start is truly enough! 100+ that's for sure! Tina and Jennifer more than exceeded my expectations! I'm a picky person day to day and can you imagine me on my own wedding day? I emailed Tina and Jennifer numerous times BEFORE I even booked with them and they were both so patient. Yes, I was even crazy at times! It's your special day and it happens once do I wanted to make sure everything was perfect! I will tell you it was! They were both highly rated and I read the reviews and I was happy with all of them. I still went a head and booked my trials for both the hair and makeup. They even suggested that I do them on a special occasion so I can enjoy it and really see how long your hair/make up lasts. So they recommend that I do both for my bridal shower! What a great idea, thanks girls! Not only are you spending the money and get great use out of it but you also truly learn to see if you will like it. You can even try your dress on later to see how you like it with your hair/make up. Tina and Jennifer are both beautiful inside and out, you can truly see that when you first even meet them! They really listen to you and are both so talented with what they can do! I recommend bringing pictures of the hair and make up you like. I did that with both and I can tell you they copied it to the T but did an even better job! Jennifer's make up doesn't feel heavy and looks so natural. She even used the fake eye lashes and they looked so real! Tina literally created an art with my hair. I've seen many bridal hair pictures. Tina saved my hair from a bridal day disaster. I'd spent months discussing my hair with my regular stylist (who had done a good job on my hair for my engagement photos) only to come away with a bridal style that fell apart within 2 hours! I am really sensitive about my ears showing in pictures, which was my one request - keep my hair off my face & my ears out of the picture. After 3 hours of failed attempts, my stylist told me that all my problems could be solved with extensions and perhaps more hairspray.... This was less than 2 months before my wedding. Talk about panic. I finally found Tina on Yelp, explained my predicament & we agreed to meet for a trial run. I couldn't have been more impressed - she nailed what I wanted in one shot. She understood my concerns & we collaborated to find a hairstyle that I LOVED on my wedding day - without extensions. She was always upfront/honest and let me know if my expectations were too far from reality. Tina is super responsive - I don't think I ever waited more than a day for a response. She does as good of a job with straight hair as she does with curly hair (based on my bridesmaid's styles). I chose Tina because my hair is wavy & I wanted soft, natural looking curls. She nailed it. Overall, I was disappointment with my experience using Magnificent Brides for my wedding day. I requested a very simple down-do with beach waves. My first hair trial did not go well and I felt that much of that was Tina's error, as the curls she put in were all wrong. She also advertised herself as someone who worked well with hair extensions but my hair extensions never looked worse than they did after my hair trial. The placement was all wrong and it did not blend with my real hair (a problem I never had before during my 10 years of wearing extensions). I voiced my concerns and got a re-trial but Tina was so unavailable that I had to take time off work, could not find any time slots until just two weeks before the wedding, and also was asked to pay full price. During my second trial - I was much more specific with my instructions and was happy with the outcome. I was stressed about the timing and money of it all but relieved when I liked my hair. However, on the week of my wedding two more things went wrong with Magnificent Brides. 1) Tina informed me that the second hair stylist we hired (we requested two stylists for a total of 10 girls) would have to start and leave earlier than we anticipated because she "had to go to work". She also would be doing one less girl's hair than originally thought. I was upset because we were asked to pay a $150 fee just to bring the second girl on board (which not all company's do) and now we were being told that she would be making us wake up and start earlier and leave before we were all ready. Tina was not apologetic about this change in plan. 2) One of bridesmaids disliked her hair on the day of the wedding and asked Tina to make a change to it. Tina was rude and belittling of my bridesmaid, and basically told her it was her fault she picked that hairstyle. I did not think it was fair since we were all paying a good amount of money to have our hair done that day. Finally, I felt it was uncomfortable and unprofessional when Tina kept bringing up the "tip" before I made my final payment. Overall, I feel that Magnificent Brides' services were overpriced with just an average quality delivered and a poor customer experience. I feel there are plenty of other hairstylists out there that would provide better hair services and an overall more pleasurable experience for brides on their wedding day. read more

Jen did the make-up for me, my bridesmaids and our moms for the wedding and she did an AMAZING job! When I went for my make up trial she wrote everything down and took the time to play around with a few different looks. I felt confident that she would take great care of me and my bridal party on the wedding day. She worked efficiently and had everyone done on time but still took the time to make sure everyone looked perfect! She was really flexible and fun to work with. My bridesmaids absolutely loved her, and my guests never stopped complimenting me on how great my makeup looked at my wedding. What an amazing experience it was to work with Tina and Jennifer! I had myself, 2 bridesmaids, 1 maid of honor and 2 moms that got their hair and makeup done and they did it all by themselves in not much time at all!! From the moment I chose a date, it was super easy to put them on hold and I never felt pressured to use them. After I had the trial, I felt so gorgeous that I was willing to do whatever it was to lock them into my date, but lucky for me, I didn't have to do anything!! On my actual wedding day, I was so stunned at how I could look so done up, yet still like myself which was something that was very important to me!
