Concrete engulfed the grounds. Much of it looked like add-ons. It's a pity that more bricks or stones weren't used to add more character and appeal. And oh what a hot July 23, 2025. My dog did well walking in the shaded areas with me. Live music seems non-stop here. Overall, it was a nice area with many shops, a few restaurants, at least one all-things dogs shop, and a simple yet really good ice cream parlor. Across the street in between some shops was a public restroom. The separate women's was a bit of a ramshackle to be honest. On top of that, my two young daughters kept laughing, giggling, and whispering at all the stupid messages and sexually-charged drawings on the walls. Metered street and lot parking nearby.

I loved the park's artistic flair and was very excited to see the creativity in the musical instruments. I liked it so much, when passing through this past Saturday in the freezing cold I just had to stop and share the experience with my dad. Even though it was freezing we were able to enjoy checking out the additional pieces which have been added since my last visit. Many of the threes had been wrapped in quilted creative pieces making the park bright like something out of Dr Seuss!!

The two dudes before me referred to this as the skate park in their reviews. I'm focusing on more than that since the city's website details this: "The park has 6.45 acres and contains a playground, Skate Park, restrooms, Dog Park and recently constructed Arvest Bank platform for performances." About the playground area... Free parking. For little kids, the hike up might be a little steep for little legs and strollers. The area was trash free. Many shade trees. The activities were spread out. The skate park was small, but so is the town. Options for autumn when Canada was "closed" (2 of 2)…read more - - - - - You may not know Thorncrown Chapel by its name, but you've most likely seen photos of it. It's a major example of "less is more" and "good things come in small packages." Thorncrown Chapel is a latticed timber structure - a nondenominational chapel that is Christian in its inspiration - sitting in the hilly, wooded terrain just outside of bohemian Eureka Springs, Arkansas. You will have to look for its small roadway from the highway to visit it. To say that it might resemble a popsicle stick model would be reductionist, but there is this affect in the way it looks. The difference is that the chapel is all about carefully selected, shaped, and connected wood members that make it a significant place in the world of American architecture. It was designed by the states's native son E. Fay Jones. He was the recipient of numerous awards, as is Thorncrown Chapel. The chapel is enclosed in glass. This brings in and keeps out the surroundings and elements, respectively. Sitting in here is a very serene experience. One could worship if they want - its scheme is a Christian one - or could just savor the silence. However, there is soothing instrumental music playing in the background that could intersect with today's new age variety. I thought that was humorous. They do not charge an entrance fee. They didn't when I visited. However, they do ask for donations and, if you visited, you should make a donation. There was a person on hand to answer questions. There might be events here, causing the chapel to open and close for short periods. One typical event might be a wedding. Closer to the entrance and away from the chapel is an office that tends to such affairs. Whether to visit Thorncrown Chapel garners the answer, "It depends." It is at the northwestern border of the state, just outside of Eureka Springs and below the Missouri border. However, it is far from Little Rock and Hot Springs, though not absurdly far from Fayetteville, home of the University of Arkansas. You will inevitably combine your visit with a visit to Eureka Springs. Eureka Springs is an artsy community shoehorned into a hilly mountain town that has restaurants, coffeehouses, gift shops, and the like ... and most likely garden variety stoners who work at these places. Think Nevada City, CA, Sedona, AZ, Galena, IL, Saratoga Springs, NY, and similar granolafied towns thrown into the middle of rural (and more conservative) America. I got derailed discussing Eureka Springs and its hippie vibe. If, to you, the distance is reasonable and doable, do visit Thorncrown Chapel. It's an interesting and unique mix of contextual, transparent, simple, and yet complex.

We did not stay at the resort. But we took canoe and kayak rentals and it was the best experience…read more Canoes and kayaks are usually booked during summer days. But if you call ahead and book, they will hold it for you for a couple of hours at least. We took the self-driven canoes and kayaks and we did not face any problem because the water current is slow and water is not too deep at all. Their rental start at 9am and you have to return the canoes and kayaks by 4pm. Believe me, you actually need that much time :) We reached at 9:30am and completed the paperwork and started kayaking at 10:30. We went upstream till the dam and then came back downstream and reached the same place where we parked our car. You can keep your stuff in a bag in a canoe. But the kayaks don't have that much space - you can carry a waterproof packet at the most. There is a very less chance you will get wet. Self-driven canoes are $20+tax and hold 2 people. Kayaks are $25+tax for 2 people and $20+tax for single person. Totally recommend this place! Good customer service and really a great place to spend a day!

Sadly, the loving care that was once evident everywhere is no longer there. The cabins are in serious need of maintenance. I called a few times prior to finally booking online because I couldn't catch anyone on the phone. Our keys were pinned to a corkboard at the office when we arrived around 3:25 pm. When we checked out the next morning at 8:36, there was also no one in the office, although a housekeeping(?) vehicle drove past us to the cabin. It was a very impersonal experience and not at all what I experienced as a child and also when I returned with my own young children years ago. I did text and call Kelly as I would have preferred to give this feedback in person, as well as settle my account. No shampoo or body wash in the bathrooms, but there were some soap bars. Bring a hair dryer - there isn't one. Pro tip: We didn't think there was a bath mat, but it was folded under the tissue holder on the back of the toilet. Water was hot and the pressure was decent. Our cabin (no 2) had gray hairs on one of the pillowcases and the sheets had multiple tiny holes. There was a streak of black on the ceiling of our cabin above the bed that might have been mold but honestly am not sure. The expensive tv ads that run in the DFW and OKC market could be better spent on Thompson's water seal for the exteriors and refreshing the ancient carpet and sheets/beds. That said, if you think of it as a glamping experience it might not be so bad. Sadly, this will most likely be our last visit here. Giving it two stars for the creek and river views.
