My wife and I hiked here yesterday (June 22 2105). We thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't see another…read morehuman being as advertised. Relatively easy to find and convenient. The GPS in our car couldn't find it but our phone could. Finding any description of it on the Internet proved difficult. I noticed a marker on an online map and then did an online search. This yielded the previous Yelp review and a short section on the Missouri Department of Conservation. (Missouri Parks and apps to locate hiking areas provide no information.) So, unfortunately, or fortunately, however you choose to look at it, finding out about it takes an effort. We liked the hike. It's about 2.7 miles out and back (5.4 miles total) so not a loop. It's competitive but not overly strenuous. The biggest drawback? A couple of sections included lots of loose stones, so exercise real caution or you might turn on ankle or something. My wife expressed disappointment that it offered no vistas. Good views might await you if in late fall or winter. But in summer you can see nothing due to the foliage. But we highly recommend it. Especially if you enjoy solitude and a decent workout.

Feeling a bit hesitant at first to do it on bike but it was the best feeling. It was a perfect 68, clear skies and lilac blooms along the way. The perfection was almost overwhelming. A tram is also available for a round trip adventure but the bike was just too fun to pass up. Along the way we saw all kinds of little critters, snakes, fish and birds. Stopped at the tree house, chapel and most of the waterfalls. On bike with all the stops about 2 hours, walking could easily be 3+. Bikes are $15 each and I highly recommend getting there early so you have your pick cause the good ones go fast. Some have baskets and you should get one of those and then fill it with a picnic lunch. Little under $20 per person for entry, with discounts for veterans, seniors and children. Large parking but the place is popular, so again if possible arrive early.

The White River Valley Trail System is an awesome spot for anyone who loves a challenge. The…read moreparking area is spacious and well-maintained, with clean restrooms and clear welcome signs to get you started. Once you hit the trail these are technical paths with plenty of rocks, roots, and serious elevation changes. It's a tough hike or ride that requires skill and stamina. The trails aren't marked very well, you have to keep an eye on the trees. One of the trails connects to a paved road that leads down to the river, where you'll find access for fishing and some really nice views of the hatchery. Overall, this trail system is beautiful and challenging, perfect if you're looking for a solid workout and don't mind a bit of rough terrain. Definitely not for beginners, but experienced hikers and mountain bikers will love it.

The lower trails are quite easy to hike, the ones further in get more difficult. Drop a pin when you park-- since the trails aren't marked well you might have some difficulty getting out if you are on a schedule. When you drop the pin, you can often take a short cut back to the parking area.

Kids (and adults) will love scrambling on all the large rocks. Adults with enjoy the beauty of creation. And if you are brave enough, you will find a cathedral-type cave at the end of your journey. You do have to squeeze to find it, but the trip back into the cave is worth it--just be careful of any low hanging bats (lol!). My wife and I have lived in NWA for 5+ years and we do this hike at least once a year. Sometimes just us, but usually with a group and no one has ever complained about the distance or that they were bored. So good! I love this hike and I know you will too!!

Furthermore, our good friends Alvin and Charlie run the nearby Magnetic Springs Resort. (Hey, it's a gay friendly, clothing optional place. Great for what it is but probably not a prime choice for heterosexual Southern Baptist types who are in town for a weekend of Bible study and Trump worship.) You really need to stop by these historic springs if you're in the Eureka Springs area -- lots of doctors and artists (and temperance advocate Carrie Nation!) lived in this area a hundred and twenty years ago. Lots of nearby bars and restaurants, as well as shops and galleries. (This is just around the bend from Main Street, for Pete's sake.)

I think this was pretty easy to find and that's from someone who had never been in this area before. It's just a beautiful area, and this trail hits a lot of the natural scenery. There's a bathroom at the trailhead, and a decent amount of parking as well. Didn't see a lot of wildlife but there are boatloads of ticks in this area in the summer, so come prepared with lots of bug spray! Bonus for our trip this year, but this was one of the only hiking trails in the area that was open. There were several tornadoes around Memorial Day 2024 that left ton of trees uprooted and toppled, so this trail is clear as of June 2024.

Its a nice trail thats easy to moderate, its about 1 1/2 miles in length, a large loop. Very enjoyable when the leaves are turning in the Fall or when hundreds of dogwoods are blooming in the Spring. One the whole family can enjoy, only steep in a few places. I'll post some pics of the bluffs, etc
