Nice views, nice trails. Of course I'm a fan. Not the oooh's & ahhh's I usually give to beautiful views. Worked up a sweat jogging in my boots trying to see it all by myself since my road trip buddies couldn't hang with the walk. Glad I did and didn't leave it for next time. Got some nice selfies and definitely recommend you get a work out in here with all the great eateries in Branson, you might need it. I did! If you are coming for a stroll give your self a good two hours. If you are coming for a workout you could run it an hour or less.

This is a very manageable paved walkway that winds upward through not-too-thick forest as you get to an observation tower at the top. Free, scenic, and close to Bransons other attractions, make it worth checking out for any visitor that has a free hour.

Paved trail leading to tower

Beautiful place. We had been here many times before. The view where you park is amazing. We were missing out on something though. There is a paved path. That leads to a tower. You can climb up and the views are amazing. The path is located next to the vehicle entrance. Keep walking along the wall towards the entrance and you will run into it. There is a public restroom building painted dark brown as you approach it. It's in the trees and easy to miss. The path to the tower is paved the entire way. There are benches every so often. It's uphill all the way to the tower. Not a super steep grade but definitely uphill. My 70 year old dad who is in good shape could handle it no problem. The steps up the tower have higher risers than typical steps. I know there are a lot of elderly tourists in Branson. I'd say give it a try. If you get tired at any point it's all downhill on the way back. At the very least stop in and check out the view from the parking lot. It's amazing!

Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area - Becoming a little over grown, I bet in the next few weeks, it will be very overgrown

Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area

Somewhere in Branson, tucked behind the tourist shops and fudge factories, we decided to go full…read morenature mode and hit the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area--which sounds way more intense than it actually is. I was half-expecting to see a bear with a banjo or a raccoon running a moonshine still. Instead, we got about 140 acres of surprisingly legit wilderness... with signs. Lots of signs. Branson knows how to label a rock. The trail started off innocent enough--wood chips, some chirping birds, a suspicious squirrel staring us down. Then came the stairs. Not like "oh look, a couple of steps," but 315 stone steps carved into the side of a bluff like Mother Nature was training for a StairMaster commercial. Whoever built these things must have been part mountain goat, part lunatic. Down we went, each step echoing with the soundtrack of my thighs weeping. Somewhere between Step 89 and existential crisis, we passed a little cave where I'm 83% sure a wizard lives. It was cool, literally and metaphorically. We didn't go in though--look, we respect magical real estate. At the bottom was a view of Lake Taneycomo so pretty it made me forgive the stair situation. There were trees, chirping birds, and a breeze that whispered, "Hey, good luck going back up." We lingered at a little waterfall trickle (emphasis on trickle--it hadn't rained much) and contemplated faking an injury to avoid the climb. Eventually, we powered back up, legs shaking, pride shattered, but hearts full. Or maybe that was just dehydration. Back at the top, we found a porch swing near the ruins of an old homestead, which felt like a reward from the hiking gods. If you ever wanted to swing gently while staring into the distance and pretending you're in a Nicholas Sparks movie, this is your spot. All in all, 5 stars would hike again. Just next time, I'm bringing hiking poles.

This is a beautiful hidden gem right in the heart of Branson. I found it here on Yelp and my friend…read moreand I decided to stop by and walk during one day we were in the area. It was fall and there were lots of leaves on the ground, but we could still make out the trails which was nice. The main, short trail is very wide so many people can walk it at the same time. The longer trails were more narrow. I only walked a short portion of one and realized I was probably not experienced enough for it lol - it was very steep and twisty. I liked that there are options for all fitness levels and every trail seemed to have nice views. They also have nice clean restrooms, picnic areas and a kids play area in the front. Great place to stop for a break while on the strip - and its FREE.
