The parking was easy to find, the earlier you arrive the easier it is when the event concludes; we used the lot on Buchtel across University and the first 40 minutes in the car after was complete standstill, hence not quite 5 stars. The arena is clean and feels safe. There really is not a bad seat in the whole place, literally every seat has a great view. Plenty of quality concessions, and a comfortable cool, not cold, ambient temperature. Great value, good for hockey fans of all ages. Great atmosphere to watch great hockey, Go Pioneers!! read more

Magness Arena - From Upper Section 7 - Stadiums & Arenas Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Magness is one of the best venues, for anything but especially hockey. You can't go wrong with any event you attend. The DU campus is beautiful, it's worth walking around. Go PIOS! read more

Nice rink Went to see the grandson play multiple games on a full rink. Got to sit exactly where we wanted for free. read more

Won the mens league here and Sam Markwood (director) couldn't have handled it more immaturely. We get accused of cheating, after they checked every player's ID before the game, we offered to give blood during the impromptu first intermission roster check. Sammy then gave our championship gear to the team we had just beaten. All of this after a aggressive grandma supporting the other team came to our locker room to confront one of our players (dangerous situation). Sam has the qualifications to be a rodeo clown, but not to be in charge of any type of league anywhere. Overall very disappointed, don't recommend playing here, go dawgs. read more

I haven't actually been here to watch DU play. So unfortunately, I haven't been able to take advantage of all that Magness Arena has to offer. I do however come here to see my BF play in his rec league hockey games (Go Cones!) and I have definitely enjoyed our games here. Even more so when they win! ++ The officiating seems to be spot on which is nice. Things don't seem to get as out of hand as we've seen at other venues. ++ For the most recent season (summer 2016) there was a decent mix of both Saturday and Sunday games. ++ The seats are super comfortable and there is not a bad seat in the house. ++ The arena is actually pretty warm, at least from the spectating side of the glass. -- The rec league games have a tendency to be a bit later than I would like, but there's not much to do about that. -- Though it was a short season and only featured 4 teams. Guess everyone had summer plans... All in all, I'm happy with the team's choice to move back to DU and look forward to many more games at Magness! read more

Magness Arena - Empty rink before the game. - Stadiums & Arenas Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Go Pios Go! If you are a lover of good hockey, then head on over to Magness and catch to National Champs! Love the smaller arena with a great student section. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Plenty of campus parking. Easy in and out. Lots of food and drink options (but they are pricey). Love it! read more

cannot pay cash for anything. plastic only. very inconvenient for children wishing to buy their own food and group ticket holders that may have many unrelated children attending a game. consessions are way over priced (exactly the same as pro sport venues). what happened to college sports being a good deal? college hockey tickets are so over priced it will make your head spin. read more

I've been in this building many times before to swim in the Olympic sized pool for triathlon training, but this was my first time in the actual Arena. DU hockey fans are great, way more chill than at the semi-pro or professional levels, but still decked out in Pioneer gear and excited to be there. We ate before we came, but, as we made our way to our seats, we saw a carving station where you could get your choice of meat on a salad for $9. I was like, what!?! And, it looked delicious. I'll definitely try this next time I go. I bought our tickets online, so wasn't quite sure what to expect seating-wise, but wasn't disappointed. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, as all of them are super close to the rink. Cheapest ticket possible for the same experience!?! Yes please! Go Pioneers! read more

My wife and my Dad joined me this past Sunday at Magness Arena to see the Colorado Avalanche scrimmage game. None of us had never been to this arena, and we were all pleasantly surprised. There is not a bad seat in the house, and the arena offers an up-close view of the game. The arena also looks new and very well maintained. I look forward to coming here for games/events in the future! read more

Magness Arena - Colorado Avalanche burgandy vs. white scrimmage game - 9/21/14. - Stadiums & Arenas Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I've only been here for a few hockey games the BF has been in and have come to love this venue! Despite the fact they are no professional team, watching hockey in this arena feels like a pro game! -cozy seats. -perfect temp in there just perfect :) read more

Magness Arena.....Cozy is one word to describe it. It's not too big, it's not too small, but it's just right! Where have I heard that before? I havent quite figured out the parking situation on the campus, but there is 5hr metered parking across from the arena and times that I've driven to Magness, I've parked at a meter, without paying and have never received a ticket. This of course is only during games that Ive done this. There is a light rail stop across from campus as well. I have yet to go here for a DU hockey game and one day I will, but I have been here for both DU Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball as well. The accoustics are OK for an arena of this size. The ticket prices are good for basketball programs that are both on the rise. Bathrooms are clean and the concessions are decent. There is not a bad seat in the building and for a school of the size of DU this arena fits the bill. read more

Really great college atmosphere. The seats were great all around and the staff was nice at every turn. The big reveal.....they serve mixed drinks at a college game. Good and dangerous. Go Fighting Sioux. read more

Decent view of the ice surfaces in Joy Burns and great seats for Magness. Organization is definitely spotty but some of them really try. Listen folks, this is top quality ice for the Pioneers. Accept that fact and you will be in 7th heaven for the privilege to skate here like I am. If you go in expecting top quality service and organization you will be disappointed from time to time. Top level play is low in their 2 mixed level leagues and referees seem OK. Ice times are a little late on some nights. Lower levels are a little more chippy but not unbearable. Drop in is great with mid range and higher skill level from time to time (Sundays are usually fastest). Schedule is a little random but lots of stick and puck available. An amazing array of highly talented coaches are seen frequently on the ice here. Can't ask for more. This is an Adult League review and it looks like they have a very, very strong youth program. read more

This place is as amazing and enchanting as the rest of the DU campus. It's clean and friendly and plenty of free things to win/earn. Including but not limited to: free guacamole at the rio, free which which cookies and sometimes a free sub the next day, free spirit towel when you add your info to the touch screens. They serve beer and other refreshments and snacks. It's a great value and great fun for all! read more

Love the Magness Arena at DU! I have seen two concerts here, Jane's Addiction and Stone Temple Pilots. For a larger venue it is not too bad. You can see the performers and bands pretty well...though still you may feel like you are too far so best to bring a pair of binoculars anyway. Traffic control for the crowds is handled fairly well before and after the shows. I am looking forward to going back again though I don't really go to large venues that much anymore. read more

It's hard to say anything bad about Magness. And since I'm all for doing things the easiest possible way, I won't. Magness is a top-notch facility for College puck, It's clean, bright, large and there's nary a bad seat in the barn. It's best for DU games on nights when the students are in town, as there are sure to be a bevy of creative chants from the student section (The South End.) Beer selection is decent, especially if you're using the kiosks instead of the main concession areas. The best food & beer (and even over-priced booze if you want it) is located on the West side of the arena. Everything from Molson and Jack Daniels to Burritos and deli sandwiches and toasted nuts. It's all stadium-fare, really, but that's where the best of it lies. I've never been here for anything but hockey, so I don't know how it is for Squeakyball, concerts, or whatever else they put on in there (they've got a separate area by the natatorium for v-ball, 'nastics, etc.) But for Hockey, it's fantastic. Oh, and CC SUCKS! CC SUCKS! CC SUCKS! read more

My fiance and I purchased season DU tickets this year it has been worthwhile. Watching a DU game is really fun in this arena. The food seems good and upscale at first, only to find it makes you somewhat ill after eating it (carving station). They have a full cocktail bar, nacho bar, carving station, dip n' dots, etc... They play this bizarre cotton eyed joe song every game. The arena is beautiful and the team is really fun to watch and cheer on. For players, they have stick and puck almost every day, drop-in, classes and leagues. Even though I am not good I love to imagine the entire arena cheering for me. read more

I think Magness is a great venue. The size is perfect for a concert. The acoustics are killer, and there isn't really anywhere that you can't see the stage. I've been on the floor and actually moved into the seats along the side to see better. The people working the floor are pretty strict that you stay where you are, and don't cross any white lines into the center aisle, which is hard for me, cause I like to get down. So venturing into the seats where there was more room to move, wasn't a bad idea. I think if we ever get back to a show there, I won't spend the extra for a floor seat. read more

A wonderful arena for Hockey!!! The DU Hockey team is one of the best teams in the nation and its home fans are just as fanatic and loyal. It's not a very big venue but very cozy!!! The prices for the food is a bit overpriced...but you must get the Cinnamon Glazed Almonds by the Nutty Bavarian...MMMMMMM!!! Yes, they're expensive, but so worth it. Seats are comfortable, had a good view of the action...sitting pretty high but could still see the rink, not the puck!!! The score board in the middle could use some updating!!! DU Hockey is worth the money, especially if they play a rival or some other ranked opponent. read more

flew in to see the killers . it was a great venue, they even had some decent beers on tap. Canadian Molston was great!! along with the jack n cokes! the security dudes were cool! oh btw, jacks n cokes were cheap too!! and there is plenty of clean restrooms!! love it read more

Game day! This is a great venue to watch hockey and basketball. Ticket prices are decent, although there's always a "convenience fee" which is annoying. They serve beer and OK food, and there's plenty of room to walk around if you need to. Very clean bathrooms too. read more
