Her poor business managment skills, lack of communication, and ability to make up an excuse for every issue is just the start. It was so bad working with Danielle and this company that we were reaching out to other catering companies days before our wedding in an effort to ensure we were going to have food. Below is a few of the issues we had with this business for our August 2022 wedding. - Zero communication after paying deposit. - Excuse for every issue in not being able to communicate. - 30 min late arriving to venue for wedding - They forgot knives for our 200 guests - Ran out of drink cups that they were supplying within 5 minutes of serving - Half the staff that was promised - They forgot table runners - Unprofessional staff Saving the best for last.... We had 40 people that DID NOT eat. We were notified the morning of the wedding that guests would need to serve themselves for everything but meat, that was not our original plan. The sides ran out so quickly and the meat was not served to 40 people. We paid for 220 people. Called Danielle multiple times the week before to let her know that we would be more around 200. (Trying to be courteous) We had 194 folks show up and still they still ran out. At the end of the day, save yourself the awful experience my wife and I had to go through and find someone else to cater your event.

Ample space inside the barn for a party over 100. Our son had a wedding there in Sept. Kitchen is a little tight & the oven wasn't cleaned so we had a temporary smoke issue upon firing it up. Two fridges. But overall the venue was perfect and spacious with a unique setting that made us happy to have our kids experience the perfect wedding. If you're creative- you'll love it. They also had lots of decor and amenities to spruce up the interior. Separate changing room inside. Owners are very friendly and responsive. Please respect them and don't abuse the property if you select it. Logistics can be challenging if you're not a Castle Rock or other local. But it's doable and we proved that. We found a mobile bartender; Castle Rock restaurant cater it - and were able to find a DJ and a pastor willing to accommodate us. If you're worried about weather - you can make it work. As long as you're under 150 total folks I believe. But if the weather is good- it's perfect.

Granted it's in the middle of nowhere, which is a pretty big ask of the guests who have to get to/from the venue without a lot of lodging nearby (we found a cabin about five miles away), but the beauty from the hilltop is undeniable when the weather is clear. With several different spaces to use on property it really allowed the bride to get creative and spread out. The oddest thing is most definitely the sleeping arrangements, which once seeing in person made me incredibly grateful for the cabin nearby. If you plan on offering the sleeping arrangements to your guests, make sure those guests know each other well. Like, really well. Correction, really, really, REALLY well. It's like going to camp with rooms piled high with bunkbeds and no less than 10 people sharing each bathroom. It's intimate to say the least. So there you have it. As a guest that didn't stay on property, I thought the Hilltop Lodge was pleasant and beautiful, but if I had to stay on the property overnight or longer I'd probably end up sleeping in my rental car in the park by the lake instead.

You can't get any better service than her. It's got a reasonably good atmosphere. While slightly cramped, it's nothing you can't easily move around in. As for their product selection, it's pretty large. I felt like they covered all major holidays/events, with reasonable prices. My Mom and I went in about an hour before closing, and still got great service plus the products we needed. Overall, it's a small party store with the party supplies you need, and an employee who will raise your mood just from conversing with her.
